+1 #1038: Welcome to Freedom

Hi, this is Brian. Welcome back to another Optimize plus one. In our last couple plus ones, we've been hanging out with Socrates and Hercules and Epictetus and most importantly, the goddess Arete. She promised us true happiness and the favor of the gods. But she told us. I will not delude you. I quote now with promises of future pleasure. I shall give you a true account of the facts exactly as the gods have ordained them. Nothing that is really good and admirable is granted by the gods to men without some effort in application. That's from Socrates Story on the choice of Hercules. So I had that line and the whole story of Hercules and his choice in mind as Alexandra and I were driving down from Ojai with the kids to our graduation event in Los Angeles. Then what did I see? I saw a bus drive by us with the side painted with the inviting words welcome to Freedom. Literally covered the whole bus. Welcome to Freedom. Wow. That sounds amazing. I'll take it. But then I looked a little closer. You know whose bus it was? A Casinos. And then I laughed out loud. Thank you, universe. I. I couldn't have asked for a better example of how our modern society dresses up. Vice as virtue. And that's today's plus one, the true path to freedom. That bus is driven by the goddess Arete. See you on it today, little PS the optimized coach Class 2 bus officially leaves the station in less than a week. What are you waiting for? If you feel so inspired, we'd love to have you join us.
