+1 #1057: Exploding Fist Bumps of Love

Brian Johnson and his son Emerson demonstrate their morning rituals, including a leaping monkey hug, imaginary love flying from body parts, and Emerson's exploding fist bumps of love, a normal fist bump that turns into a sign of affection.
Chapters
Hi, this is Brian.
Hi, this is Emerson.
Welcome back to another Optimize plus one. So this morning I was wrapping up yet another AM one deep work session when I heard the tap, tap, tap little knock on the office door. I smiled. Then I flipped the switch from work mode to love mode and assumed my position behind the door to get ready for a leaping monkey hug from Emerson. The door opens, he's wearing his orange, white, black striped PJs that are ineffably cute on his super fast growing, lean little seven year old body. I smile and then he does his thing. Show him a monkey hug. Oh yeah. Oh, arms and legs. Let's go. Oh, you're such a good hugger, dude. Yeah, Monkey hug. Nice work. I wrap him up as he wraps me up. Then I lay him on the ground and look into his eyes and I say, I love you, buddy. He squeezes me tight again and he says, what did you say?
I love you.
I love you. He said, I love you, daddy. Then he says, oh, look what I found behind your back.
Oh.
And he gives me one of these. Game on. To which I reply, well, that's funny because I just saw two of these.
Fly out of your ears.
To which he replies, well, that's funny because I just saw two of these fly out of your elbows. Where did they come from? Out of my elbows. Oh, boom, there they are. Then we might have taken a tour of our bodies and had love flying out of our ears and eyes and noses and mouths and hair and beards. Just my beard, huh? Yeah, you don't have a beard yet. Oh, there they are. They're flying out again. Now, although I do highly recommend the I love you game, that's not qu quite the point of today's plus one. This is. Now, I think we'd all agree that exploding fist bumps are pretty epic, but I hereby introduce you to Emerson's exploding fist Bumps of love. Here's how it goes. Get ready for your normal exploding fist bump action. Like that, right? So we do the normal boom. Then on the explosion, turn that action into love. Right? Should we show them again? Like so. Boom. Nice, dude. And that's today's plus one. Here's to many micro moments of exploding fist bumps of love with the ones we love today.
And we love today every day. And every day.
Should we do one more?
One more, One more.
Boom. We also came up with a high five of love. Boom.
