Hey hero, if you're enjoying these daily plus ones, make sure you head to Heroic Us to access a ton more resources to help you move from theory to practice to mastery and express the best, most heroic version of yourself today. And now, here's Brian with today's plus one. Hi, this is Brian. Welcome back to another Optimize plus one. Continuing our good times with our stoic friends, how about a couple more gems from Seneca and Aurelius? Seneca once said, the worse a person is, the less he feels it. Think about that for a moment. The worse a person is, the less he feels it. And guess what? This corollary follows that truth. The worse a person is, the less he or she feels it, and the less he or she wants to hear about it from you. That's part one of this plus one. Here's part two the worse a person is, the more he's going to see the worst in you. Which leads us to one of my favorite gems from Marcus Aurelius. In Meditations he tells us, the approval of such men who do not even stand well in their own eyes has no value for him. Translation, if someone doesn't even like themselves, why would I care whether or not they like me? Say it with me now. The worse a person is, the less he feels it. And the worse the person is, the less he's going to like himself, whether he's aware of it or not. And the less he likes himself, the less he's going to like anyone else. Therefore, the approval of such men who do not even stand well in their own eyes has no value for him. Amen. Today's +1 2 parts 1. Keep that wisdom in mind today. And 2 flip it around. And know this. The worse you feel, the more you're going to see the worst in others. So if you're getting all snippety snappity with people around you, you might want to check in and see how you're feeling about yourself. And quit projecting all that dislike on onto everyone else. Just saying that is all. Make today awesome.
