The Equanimity Game Marcus Aurelius, the 2nd century Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher who you might know from his cameo in the beginning of the Gladiator, tells us, when force of circumstance upsets your equanimity, lose no time in recovering your self control and do not remain out of tune longer than you can help. Habitual recurrence to the harmony will increase your mastery of it. End quote. That's strong. When you find yourself off balance and life has kicked you in the butt, see how fast you can get back in balance. The more you practice this, the better you'll get. Little footnote here. Marcus Aurelius is one of my heroes. Highly recommend his Meditations, which is basically a collection of bite sized nuggets of wisdom from the journals. He kept reminding himself of the Stoic ideals to which he was committed.
