Hi, this is Brian. Welcome back to another heroic plus one. In our last plus one we pulled an inspirational quote out from one of my all time favorite books, Creating youg Best Life by Caroline Adams Miller. Then I challenged you to leave the land of the living dead and give us all you got. I repeat, Dr. Edwin Locke, one of the world's leading scholars on the science of goal setting, tells us, and I quote him, there are two kinds of people in the world, the vulnerable and the dead. Those who live only to avoid hurt are the living dead. Today I want to shine a bright light on another head exploding emoji wisdom gem from the same book. But first, fun fact. I have personally typed out every single one of the quotes we have in our heroic app. You know how many we have in there? Neither did I until I asked the team. We have nearly 10,000 quotes in our heroic Quote database. Here's another fun fact. I've been a quote nerd for decades. I can vividly remember typing out the quotes I printed out for a philosophical pilgrimage nearly 25 years ago after selling my first business in the year 2000, during which I studied Socrates in Athens, Aurelius near the Danube in Hungary, and Jesus in Jerusalem and Rumi in Turkey. In fact, I still have the journal I kept on that trip and I have the printout of those quotes. And in front of me as I type this, check out a picture of that journal in this +1 and those quotes as well. Now here's today's wisdom gem. It's from Mary Kay Ash. Note Caroline Adams Miller shares this at the beginning of one of the chapters talking about the importance of having goals. Mary Kay tells us, and I quote her, an average person with average talent and ambition and average education can outstrip the most brilliant genius in our society if that person has clear, focused goals. I repeat, an average person with average talent and ambition and average education can outstrip the most brilliant genius in our society if that person has clear, focused goals. Now, as I type that, I thought of another plus one called the Making of a Master. Check it out. I recently shared, discussing Emerson's heroic Chess Grandmaster request, in which I combined two ones that were separated by over a year. The theme of that +1 the importance of having a clear goal target. So today's plus one. What do you want in your life? Have you unplugged from what Steven Pressfield would call BS Inc. Long enough to take the time to figure that out? Then have you taken the time to distill that desire and into a clear, challenging goal if so, awesome, carry on dominating. If not awesome, get on that. I repeat one more time. An average person with average talent and ambition and average education can outstrip the most brilliant genius in our society if that person has clear, focused goals. With that wisdom gem in mind, let's take clear aim at that clear target and dominate today.
