Hi, this is Brian. Welcome back to another Arete plus one Degree, a micro chapter from our new book, Arete Activate youe Heroic Potential. Let's get straight to work. Enlightened beings. There aren't any. In our last couple plus one degrees, we talked about the fact that we can't seize the day per se. We can only seize the moment. Enter not just carpe diem, but carpe punctum. In everyday Enlightenment, Dan Millman makes another brilliant point. He tells us that there are no enlightened beings. There are only more or less enlightened moments. Here's how he puts it. And I quote Dan no one feels the same way all the time. Even if you are angry, depressed, crazy, afraid or grieving, you'll have moments when you are distracted. There are no enlightened people. No nice, bad, smart, neurotic or stupid people either. Only people with more or less enlightened, nice, bad, smart, neurotic or stupid moments. Now that's a really powerful and empowering distinction. As wonderful as it would be, no one gets to a place where they're exonerated from all future work. Period. The issue isn't reaching that I've finally perfected myself once and for all. And isn't life great? Great state. It's about stringing together more and more enlightened moments in our day to day lives. And guess when the best time is to practice your new enlightenment. Yep, right now. Close the gap, live with Arete and remember, there are no enlightened people, only more or less enlightened moments. So carpe punctum. I hope you enjoyed that.
