Hi, this is Brian. Welcome back to another Arete One degree from the new book Arete, activate your heroic potential. We're having fun looking at some of my favorite ideas from 451 ideas I share in the new book. If you get it, I hope you love it. This one is on Extreme Ownership. Navy SEAL Wisdom on leadership US Navy Seals Jocko Willink and Leif Babin were two of the most senior leaders on the ground in the most intense battles of Iraq. They wrote a great book about how to lead called Extreme Ownership. The number one rule? Quit making excuses. Instead, take extreme ownership of everything in your life. Emphasis on extreme and everything. What would that look like? Well, in essence, with that level of ownership, you'd never, but only never, make an excuse or blame anyone about anything. Ever. Not at work, not at home, not on the road between home and work. You'd resolve to choose the most optimal response to any given situation, learning from whatever setbacks arise as you immediately focus on the next best step. Period. Repeat forever at work, at home. On the road between home and work. Extreme Ownership. Hooyah.
