A short conversational excerpt from a YouTube video by Brian Johnson about using personal suffering as a gift to help others. Brian and another speaker discuss how navigating family and psychological challenges equips someone to guide others facing similar struggles (example: obesity), reframing scars as badges of strength and urging pride rather than shame.
Your suffering.
Is your greatest gift. My suffering is my greatest gift. The fact that I grew up in.
The environment in which I grew up with my dad's challenges, his dad's challenges, my own psychological challenges, and the process.
Through which I have navigated that, and my willingness to go back and say to people who are.
Currently going through that, I know what it feels like.
And I also know what I did to go from there to here, roughly. And I can help. There's no greater gift that we have.
For those who are struggling with obesity or being overweight or whatever, my response.
Is always, you solving that challenge is your greatest gift to the world, because so many people are going through the same struggles you're.
Going through or have gone through that.
I've been through that the individual who.
Needs to lose weight is going through. Or fill in the blank, because we've all got our challenges.
And then we wear those. Those scars like metals.
We're not ashamed of them. We're not embarrassed by them. Boom.
We stand in.
That power and say, I got it. I know exactly what that feels like.
