LIFE 101 Storyboards - Episode #20

Brian Johnson records an informal Sunday storyboard (LIFE 101 Storyboards - Episode #20) outlining a book/DVD program that will condense ~100 favorite "big ideas" into 10 guiding principles for personal development. He rapidly lists and briefly comments on many candidate ideas—intention and impeccability, follow-your-bliss/disciplines, creator vs. victim, optimism and the "three Ps", courage, shadow projection, highest goal/spiritual alchemy, meditation/alpha state, stretch/comfort/panic zones, Covey's Quadrant II, the eulogy exercise, gratitude/primary foods, Integral Theory, 80/20, flow, mastery/10,000 hours, hedgehog concept, journaling, emotional guidance systems, plus-one/minus-one growth framing, Joseph Campbell metaphors, and several others—framing them as components of a curriculum and future videos. Tone is enthusiastic, exploratory, and practitioner-focused.

Foreign. What's up? This is Brian. It is Sunday at 2:00'. Clock. I just spent the last four hours. I got inspired to create kind of an outline or storyboard for my book and for the kind of DVD program that I want to create that brings all of the 1000 big ideas into 10 principles in my favorite hundred big ideas. So you've seen this thing a bunch of times if you've watched these videos. It's my 10 principles. This is kind of like a little crazy mind map of it. And then what I just did was I just figured, time to rock it. I don't know what happened, but I just got totally inspired and decided I wanted to map out all 100 one of my favorite big ideas that are going to constitute life 101. Starting with intention and impeccability. Then the 10 principles. Then how we hold the tension between our ideal and our current reality. And then the last video that I did on letting outcomes take care of themselves and focusing on intention rituals and creative production goals. Then my whole idea that actualization occurs. When we think diligently, patiently, persistently and playfully, we're bound to be successful. So consistency over intensity. We've got follow your bliss. Principle number six. Number seven. This is going to change. So kind of arbitrary. Just what came to me. I did the first 80 of these without looking at anything and then I needed to go over and flip through my notes. But anyway, so we've got follow your bliss. We've got the idea of being a creator and not a victim. So that'll be fun. Victim versus creator. Optimism and how to learn optimism. The three Ps of optimism, courage, how. How it comes from the French word for heart and how it pumps blood to all the other virtues. Really cool. We've got the idea of shadow projection, how we can take care of that whenever we see something we don't like in someone else. We should ask, how am I that I'm going to go off on that? The highest goal. This idea that when we make the highest goal, connecting to source, anything that happens to us is actually a good thing because it helps us get closer to that we can alchemize it. That's pretty cool. Don't take anything personally. The alpha state in meditation. A lot of people have been asking me how to meditate. I'm going to teach one perspective on how to do that. We talked about the stretch zone versus the panic zone and the comfort zone in the last video. We've got Stephen Covey's Quadrant 2. That's a really big idea that's inspired me. 110-year-old version of you comes back to today. What do they tell you? What lessons have you learned that you want to share? Blissipline. Everyone has a problem with discipline. I think it's awesome. How do we get our bliss upline on gratitude? So big appreciations, states and stages. That's a big idea. From Ken Wilber. Integral theory. It's huge. We'll talk about that. 8020 principle, flow. These are all great things. Yes. And rather than either or, the four archetypes of happiness are really cool. Greatness equals consistency on the fundamentals. That's a quote from one of my friends and favorite teachers, Robin Sharma. We've got mastery. It's all about practice. We've got optimalism versus perfectionism. We've got signature strengths and how important they are to the science of happiness. We've got the hedgehog concept. Where our passion meets what we can be best in the world at. Meets what the world needs from us. Right at the nexus of those is where we want to spend our time. We've got 100 questions exercise which is awesome. The trading effect. How we grow in anything. We overload ourselves. We challenge ourselves a little bit. We over compensate in our recovery and we become a better, stronger human being. Whether that's a muscle or an emotion. Sizes you versus your problem. That's from T. Harv Eker's Great Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. We've got a eulogy idea. Imagining your own funeral. That's really powerful. Emotional guidance systems from Abraham Hicks. That's huge. We're going to call it. Go off on that. That'll be fun. We've got plus one or minus one. Abraham Maslow says in any given moment you can step forward into growth or back into safety. I have a cool way of looking at that. Plus one or minus one. Joseph Campbell says, am I the light or am I the light bulb? Well, I say we're both. And I say that our job is to be able to increase the wattage of our bulb and. And increase the connection to source. So really cool. I call that one enthusiasm and light bulbs. 10,000 hours. It's about how long it takes. Talent is overrated. We need to work hard if we want to see results. Loving what is. Accepting the moment. No useless talk. Removing criticism, complaining, blaming, gossiping. That's a really cool idea. Journaling. I'm going to talk about how I do, why you should do it, how I mind map. I've already videoed on that. But we'll go off on that. Primary foods. That's a cool idea. The pursuit of happiness. In Thomas Jefferson's time, pursuit meant practice. Pretty cool stuff. Not chasing after, but practicing happiness. Spiritual indigestion. That one's cool. So many here. I will spare you all of them, but I've got a lot. I'm excited and can't wait to share more. I'll also probably do videos on all of these ideas too. So there you go. That's my morning. Sunday morning. There's my kale. Can't wait to eat that. Yummy. Trust. You're doing great. Happy New Year and we'll share more soon. See ya.
