You're listening to Optimize with Brian Johnson. More wisdom in less time. Hi, this is Brian. We've got another micro class. This one is on the tortoise versus the hare versus Smokey. New character I'm going to introduce you to. Great guy. This is Inspired from the 10x rule. Great book. Check out the philosopher's note on that for a bunch of big ideas. For now, the tortoise versus the hare versus Smokey. So we know how this little fable goes, right? The hare, hello, rabbit. Starts out really fast. He screams out of the gate. And then what happens? He burns himself out. Whoa, sad face. And then the tortoise starts out super slow, right? But he keeps on going. He keeps on going. He keeps on going. He keeps on going. Slowly, steadily, and bam, he wins. Congratulations, tortoise. Now, Grant Cardone tells us. That's nice, but why isn't there a third character? The third character would take the best elements of the hare, the best elements of the tortoise. Right? So we'd have the speed of the hare plus the endurance of the tortoise. And what would he do? He'd smoke both of them. If you were able to get out of the finish line, get out of the starting gate rather with a ton of speed and you were able to endure throughout the race, he says you'd have a different fable. The fable would be called Smoked because this guy would smoke both of those guys. Now, I think we should call that third mythological character Smokey, who takes the best of the tortoise and the best of the hare. Speed plus endurance. That's how we want to approach. That's the essence of 10xing our lives. And guess what? How do you do that? How do you live with a high level of both intensity and endurance? Very, very simple. You master your fundamentals, you figure out how you create an engine that keeps on going. You don't burn yourself out. You prioritize exercise, you prioritize nutrition, you prioritize rest. You prioritize training your mind via meditation. And throughout the day, you have a very, very solid foundation, AKA engine that allows you to be both intense and fast and endure. That's Smokey. So think of Smokey. And how can you optimize whichever one of these could use some optimizing. Lean into your strengths, make your weaknesses even stronger and get it on. Remember, fundamentals are big. There you go. Hope you enjoyed. Look forward to sharing more with you soon. Here's to Smokey. Hi, this is Brian. I hope you enjoyed that micro class. Yes.
