Brian Johnson delivers a short mini-chapter retelling a story (attributed to Deepak Chopra) about two Goddesses of wealth—Lakshmi (wealth) and Saraswati (knowledge). He advises pursuing self-knowledge and wisdom (Saraswati); in doing so, wealth (Lakshmi) will follow as a byproduct. The video mixes philosophical guidance with a brief personal aside.
Chapters
Hi, this is Brian with another mini chapter from A Philosopher's Notes. This one's called the Goddesses of Wealth. Deepak Chopra tells a story about the two Goddesses of wealth, Lakshmi and Saraswati. It goes something like Lakshmi is the traditional Goddess of wealth. The problem is if you go straight after her by constantly chasing the bling, she'll tend to avoid you. Saraswati is the Goddess of Knowledge. If you go after her by pursuing self knowledge, wisdom and all that goodness, an interesting thing happens. Apparently Lakshmi is a jealous Goddess. If she sees you flirting with Saraswati, she'll chase after you. Now I'm a one Goddess kind of guy and her name is Alexandra. But I like that story. The Goddesses of Wealth. Let's pursue wisdom and knowledge. Go after Saraswati. Let Lakshmi chase us. Let our results be the best byproduct of our own self knowledge and our own growth. That is what it's all about. Hope you enjoyed. Look forward to sharing more with you soon. Have an awesome day.
