DataDash, a crypto YouTuber with 500,000 subscribers, traces his path from failed early YouTube channels through marijuana penny stocks to Bitcoin. So to kick it off from the start, when I was a child, I was pretty happy and content with the way things were. You know, I had a loving family growing up, but I think one of the biggest issues I had in hindsight was that I didn't have much of a passion in my earlier years. You know, I was always okay in school, kind of getting by, but I never really had anything that stuck with me. One thing I did try when I was a bit younger is creating YouTube videos with my friends. Back in 2007, I made about probably a dozen channels that ended up failing in the process. But in the fall of 2011, a teacher had noticed my engagement and participation in a discussion topic topic we had in our social studies class. And he kind of nudged me on the shoulders to watch the 2012 Republican presidential debate. And I kind of thought to myself, you know, okay, I'm not going to go into this with much enthusiasm myself, with politics, please, like, I don't have any kind of passions. Why would I do good at this? So they started talking about foreign policy, and down the list, the same thing over and over. That was until they went on to a gentleman named Ron Paul, who shared a completely different take on the issues. Looking back on it, I really owe a lot to Ron for leading me to where I am today. To put it lightly, this event sparked a dopamine mean rush in my head, leading me down a rabbit hole of studying things I wouldn't have even dreamed of learning about, such as foreign policy, economics, finance, you name it. And as a few weeks passed, I started diving into the 2008 recession, learning about the housing crisis, and inevitably learning about the Federal Reserve. I learned very quickly that due to excessive printing of new money from the Federal Reserve, I had to start hedging myself and my wealth. Well, what little I had at the time. And funny enough, I hadn't been excited for anything like this throughout my life. I can finally remember my dad picking me up from school on my bir as we went straight to the bank to open up my first brokerage account so I could purchase my first stock. From there, I started diving deeper into finance, investing in the stock market and buying just about anything, from risky marijuana penny stocks to Chinese solar companies. I came across a YouTube video titled what is Bitcoin? It mentioned promises of decentralization, mentioning how it utilized miners minting new coins to secure peer to peer transactions, which all the time really flew over my head, to be honest. And this is where I made what is probably the most exp. Mistake I'll ever make within my life. Instead of going to the website to learn more about the technology and what it offered, I as a trader at the time wanted to see if there was an actual market to buy Bitcoin. And to my surprise there was a website called bitstamp. I found Bitcoin's price feed on the website and immediately laughed at myself. $3 per coin? Seriously? People are spending $3 on some fake Internet money? To be honest, I had a genuinely negative opinion on Bitcoin. I can't lie, I grew to becoming so skep the financial world after learning about the 2008 financial crisis. And to be honest, it all seemed too good to be true at the start. But In February of 2017 it revisited its all time high price of $1200. I read the Bitcoin white paper and after about an hour it felt like a slap across the face. The solution I'd been looking for for all these years was right under my nose. In the years since, I've been buying crypto and analyzing the market through my YouTube channel, Data Dash, which has amassed over 500,000 subscribers globally. Cryptocurrencies are clearly a once in a lifetime opportunity, breakthrough innovation. And they will continue to impact our lives in miraculous ways similar to how the Internet or electricity reshaped our day to day lives. But if you take anything away from this video, remember this. As you go throughout your life and you discover new emerging trends and technologies in the market, make sure that you don't become your own worst enemy. What I mean by that is to always make sure you maintain a fresh perspective. Always keep open to new ideas. And on top of that as well, understand that even though you may not see value in something today, that there still may be value there that is yet to be understood. Who knows, it just might change your life.
