An Automatic Target Recognition system uses sonar to detect ghost fishing gear, abandoned ships, and aircraft wrecks underwater. The AI identifies nets and traps that kill marine life, and is expanding to track fish stocks and whales for conservation.

What we do is we provide the software to pair with this sonar to provide accurate and timely detections and identify objects. So the system that we've generated is called an Automatic Target Recognition system, or ATR. And our ATR system pairs with side-scan and multibeam sonars to automatically detect nets, traps, and ropes, so ghost fishing gear, but also derelict vessels and planes. So finding wrecks for search and recovery, human bodies for search and rescue, and we're actually scaling this technology into many other applications such as detecting fish for fisheries, for sustainable fishing. We're looking into also detecting whales and marine mammals.
