A Caribbean island home ships in a single container with custom aluminum frames and a folded roof that unfurls on site like a sail, tensioning itself while capturing rainwater for the building.

one project in on a remote island and everything is coming by boat. So then it was a question of how do we make something, you know, as efficient as possible that can fit in a container and not have a lot of wasted space and, you know, be very strong. And that project was interesting because it was all made out of custom aluminum extruded structures that I designed and built and engineered and a giant folded tensile roof membrane so that that whole roof would which is a massive area in the Caribbean, folds up into a container, and then it unfurls like a sail, and it tensions, and it captures water and directs water into that. That's the sail house process.
