In this video Ian Peterman answers a common question from inventors and early‑stage startups: who needs to be involved to successfully bring a product to market? He outlines six distinct domains that require dedicated expertise: (1) Legal – patents, trademarks, copyrights, and proper business entity setup; (2) Business – accounting, finance, marketing, corporate structure, and team capacity; (3) Design – design thinking, external design input, and creative refinement; (4) Engineering – material selection, structural safety, and engineering review to ensure the design can be manufactured; (5) Prototyping – creation of a final, fully functional prototype that matches production specifications, using appropriate tools and processes; (6) Manufacturing – design‑for‑manufacturing, scaling production, and coordinating design, engineering, and manufacturing to avoid costly redesigns. Peterman emphasizes that while a founder can outsource or learn these areas, having qualified experts (or firms) in each domain dramatically raises the odds of a successful product launch. He concludes with a call to action to subscribe and visit his firm’s website for further assistance.
