Ian Peterman argues that the world's biggest problems drive innovation. He explores energy solutions including photovoltaics, batteries, and nuclear and renewable energy, framing scarcity and challenge as the engine behind technological breakthroughs.

The world's greatest problems are the world's greatest opportunities. And that's where I get very, very enthusiastic about innovation. I think it just has been that humankind just hasn't either been aware or hasn't applied technology. But look at where we've evolved. I mean, okay, we had coal, right? And we had fossil fuel. And, you know, now we have light that turns with a photovoltaic cell. It turns it into electricity and we could store it in batteries. I mean, that's pretty advanced. And as I was saying, if we look at the planet as a site, like we look at what nature has to offer, I mean, we've got incredible nuclear energy that's just about the right distance away that we want nuclear energy. And there's more abundant energy that falls on the planet every day than we would need. We just need to use it efficiently.
