Jimmy Fung walks through building a VSL for lead generation, covering the structure from headline through close, how to prove credibility without case studies, and the cold-email setup needed to make it work.

So in today's video I will be walking you through a live consulting call I had just yesterday with one of my clients. His name is called Emo and he had a lot of questions surrounding how to build a VSL for his lead generation agency, a video sales letter. So I have a lot of YouTube videos on my channel talking about the theory behind how to make an effective video sales letter but a lot of people still have a ton of questions or the struggling with actually building a video sales letter for for their own lead generation agency. So in today's video I will be walking through a live consulting call I had with email yesterday where he had a lot of questions, he had a lot of problems and if you're watching this video maybe you have similar questions or similar problems.
So email.
When we started working together, he doesn't even know what a lead generation agency is.
So he just thought it was a.
Good business model due to its simplicity, the fact that you know it's highly.
Profitable and the fact that you're really.
Only learning one key skill which is learning how to send cold emails. And that's why we started working together. He has no previous business experience, no business acumen, none of that stuff.
Right.
So a lot of the questions he were asking they're probably going to be pretty relevant to you if you're looking to start your own lead generation agency as well. So hope you enjoyed this video. If you do drop me a subscribe, drop me a like down below and drop me a comment if you do have any questions or any comments.
Hope you enjoy.
Those are kind of what I'm thinking.
How I would do it is I would do a mix. So what I would do I It sounds like you read through this. I would think about why it is in this structure because I think the psychology like maybe not the specific words but the psychology which is, you know, headline is pretty obvious. But then the very important part is qualifying people, right. Making sure this is. You're calling out to make sure it's relevant. Right. And then the meat of it is the step by step process. So how I would do it is this is one that I created actually it's titled I sent 1 million cold emails. Everything you need to know. This is a vsl, right? I've got a lot even though the specific call to action is for people who are looking to build a lead generation agency. But I've gotten a lot of calls with B2B businesses who booked a call like they searched up my agency and they the car. But the main premise How I do it a lot like 99% of my videos are actually VSL. So you can take a look as well and see how I. Because the way I do it because I've done so many of these is more like I don't necessarily follow the framework like step by step. I take that framework and I apply inside the video and I add like kind of like a unique, my own unique angle on it, if that makes sense. So the way I start my videos is obviously I have a little bit of an intro, my name, blah blah, blah, right? In this video you will be learning how to set everything you need to know about code emails. This is what my experience is after sending a million. The reason I say that is for credibility, right? The first things I do is obviously I have, I have social proof, right like to like my name is Jimmy Fung and I run a lead generation agency, right? So very straightforward. But we have worked with 50 plus clients in Boom, boom, boom, boom niche, right? And then I just jump into like case studies, right, like for credibility. But because I, I have them, right? Case studies. And then what I do is I go really hard on showcasing my credibility in the sense where like for example, I'm pulling up my. Because I have, I'm pulling up my own calendar where I'm like as you can see, using this exact same system, I was able to book 100 sales calls in a single month. Here's my calendar to show you. This works, right?
So yeah, this, I would say this is probably also where I'm stuck when I was trying to think about how to structure my. Then the logic logical. Like first thing to put would be of course like some thing that captures attention first but then like proof for like establishing myself as an authority or like an expert, that kind of thing. And, and then like social proof is like the, the thing that most people use. But I don't really have so much. I mean I could use maybe storytelling but I'm not so good at storytelling at this point. And I could also maybe just list some. But that would be like, like SEO. Maybe I could frame my experience with SEO agency like more, more like Lydian and it would like seem. Seem kind of good in that way. One other thing I heard people doing without case studies or like clients already with testimonials is to like really going very in depth in the steps. And you do, you definitely do that like super well in all your stuff because you go so in depth and this is how it works and this is what we do. But, but maybe I could do something like that to go like very much deep into the steps. But my problem right now is that I don't really, I mean I gone through the training and my email, but I don't really understand the steps, to be honest, in the delivery. So that's kind of my block there, you see, Because I think the key for me now to create the good VSL is to create clarity in what exact steps that I, I guide the customer with like holding hands through, through the steps that I will take them through. So, so how would you approach that? Like when I don't feel down, maybe, maybe I just need to understand like really how the process very well and then just explain it.
Okay.
But that takes a long time.
Yeah, that's how I would do it. I'd open the video and say, hi, my name is Email. For the past five years I've been working, I've been running an SEO agency where no, obviously it's SEO. So people know what that is. And what I've realized during that five year period where we worked with 50 plus clients is every single business, the number one challenge is acquiring more attention and getting more clients, which is why they do SEO. The problem with SEO is it's a more inbound strategy. And once you implement the SEO strategies, it might take months before people start getting inbound leads. So what I started realizing was I started wondering what are people doing to generate attention? Using up outbound as opposed to inbound. And that's exactly how I stumbled across this cold ecosystem. And the reason why I'm offering it to business owners is because I understand that the largest problem that they have is generating attention and getting more leads in a predictable manner without cold calling, without LinkedIn, without leveraging long term strategies such as SEO. That's how I intro it. So I would story. Right. You're talking about.
That's exactly what I need. Yeah, that's exactly what, what I couldn't come up with. I think that's. That sounds like, like the, the thing. This is recorded, right? So, so I could go through that. Yeah, perfect.
Yeah. And that way you are, you're still talking about credibility in a sense. Like not directly. Oh yeah, we did it for this person. Right. Look at, look at all of these case studies. But more so people remember stories and you're explaining what you do, who you are, why you are helping these people, but you're wrapping it behind the story, talking about like, oh yeah, in your experience the largest problem is. And then you're listening to pain points. You're literally listing the problems, right? And you're explaining why what you're doing is different, it's better, and how you came across it. Right. So that's your intro. And then in the more step by step process, if we were to borrow cold emails, specifically cold emails, the very first step, there's a couple steps. I think the very first one is setting up the email account. So let's take a look at this. Right? Because I. Okay, so the first one is front end email sending. Step one, okay, well that's what I call it. You could call it something else. Right. But the step one is setting up the actual email accounts, right? So buying the domains and the email, the Microsoft Outlook email account. So literally what you have, that's step one, you need that, right? Obviously, right. Step two is email deliverability. So what that looks like is making sure that your emails are warming up using a tool like Smart Lead or using instantly making sure that you have your DMARC records, your DKIM records and your SPF records. That's email deliverability. Right. That's step two.
How, how clear, like should I be like total open, like you like disclosing. Exactly. In detail? Like we do that many accounts, that many, you know, in that detail, or is it better to be a bit more, you know, when we send emails in that situation, what kind of level, level of granular. Granularity would you go into as much.
Detail as you can? So the reason why I'm doing it in detail is because my goal is for anyone who is. Okay, okay. So Russell Brunson, he actually has a book, it's called Expert Secrets. And what he's talking about is the biggest thing that, the biggest myth that people have is they think before they teach people. Because vsl, like this is a very educational style VSL where I'm teaching people. People think in order to teach other people, you need to be a master. You need to be the ultimate expert at whatever you're talking about. But that's a myth because what you need is you need to be one step ahead of the person you're teaching. So if someone knows how to walk, you teach them how to run. That doesn't mean you need to be like in the Olympics or something. But as long as you know something that the other person do not, then you could teach them. So in the same way way you want to structure these educational style videos is most people, they understand at the high level what cold emails is. They understand. Certain people understand what warming is. Right. Like that's pretty Common knowledge, I'd say. But people don't know. Like, they have a lot of questions about the specific. Like, so you buy one domain, how many email accounts do you set up? Right. How many emails are you able to send? Right. A lot of people don't know that. And I know this because I get a lot of comments and questions on my own YouTube videos about these specific things. Things. So your goal is to have whoever's watching this video, at the end of the video, they look back at this and they're like, oh, I learned a lot of stuff that I did not previously know. And if they're able to walk away from that video with that, like, idea, oh, I just learned something new. You will automatically be the expert because you're teaching them something that they don't know. Right? So that's what.
It makes sense. I actually have that book, but I did not bring it. I was almost bringing it back to the song that I gave it to my brother and said, read this book. It's very good. But I haven't read it myself. But I heard that idea sometime before I recognize it. I haven't lived by it. So. Super interesting. And I think I really need to embody this. And just my question is, do you never worry about maybe giving away too much or. I know my former colleagues who still run SEO agency, they are very worried about going out on YouTube and because, like, competitors can see. Could see their processes. Maybe. I think maybe it's like the wrong mindset. It's better to. But I'm still. I'm still feeling. Because I come from that a bit. This kind of. Should I really, like, disclose this kind of things? Is this really, like, the right way? Way to. To. To. To do business or like to. To. You know, you understand what I mean? Like, how. How to approach it? How do you think about that?
Let me ask you this. What is your favorite type of food?
Mexican.
Mexican food. Okay, got it. When you're trying to eat Mexican food, you probably go out to a restaurant to eat it, right? Yeah, yeah. But the recipes, they exist online. They exist on YouTube. Like, you could probably find a guidebook, YouTube videos of people. Okay, let's say it's tacos, for example, right? Because I don't know specifically, let's say it's tacos. You could watch a YouTube video step by step of a guy making the tacos. But yet you still go out to a restaurant, pay the money to make you tacos. Why is that? Well, the reason. There's a couple reasons, right? The first one is the restaurant probably makes it better, right? Most likely, I don't know, maybe you're good at cooking, right? But as an example, right, you're going out to a restaurant because they're good at it, because you don't want to do it, because it's a lot of work to do it inside your own house, inside your own kitchen, and it's just a massive hassle. So you do it because the better, it saves you time and it saves you convenience. And the exact same thing applies to this service or any service. It is the type of people that will pay you money, that will pay you $3,000, $4,000. It's not that they can't do it themselves. They're paying you to do it because you will do it better. They don't want to do it themselves because they don't want to spend 20 hours setting up these email accounts. Or it's just too much work and they're lazy and they're like, I'd rather exchange my money and have someone do it for me. Right? Those are the main reasons. The type of people that are going to do it themselves, they're going to do it themselves whether you post this video or not, right? Because those type of people, they're resourceful, right? Like a lot of people, if they want to learn how to do it, they're going to learn how to do it themselves. You know what I mean? Right. They're not going to be paying someone to help them with it anyways. They'll just figure it out. So that what you're selling especially.
Especially now, maybe not 15 years ago, 10 years ago, but. But now especially. Yeah.
Right. Yeah. So the demographic that you're appealing to is not the people who are starting their business with a lot of hours on their hand, ready to. Because. Because the only people who try to learn it themselves are people who are near the beginning stages of their business. Because, for example, if your business is making a lot of money, meaning you're busy, right? Like you don't have 30 hours a week to learn a new skill. You don't. You just don't have that time, right? Which is why people hire, right? Which is why people hire other people to do it for them. Because they're busy doing their own thing as a recruitment agency, they're busy hiring actual roles. They don't have the time to learn cold emails, right? So the type of people who do that are people in the beginning stages of their business, but those are also not the same people who will be able to afford to pay you $3000, right? Because someone's starting up making 5000amonth, they can't afford to pay $3000 to do cold emails, right? That you know, the math doesn't matter. The people who can afford to pay for your services are people who have established businesses, they're making money, they're busy people, right. They don't have the time to do it and for them they rather pay someone who does it for them. Right? Which is what you're doing done for you. So what you're doing right now by going into detail is you're establishing credibility. That's what you're doing. Because the normal dude, the normal Joe on the streets, they're not going to unders, they're not going to be able to know. Oh yeah. To set up the system you need three email accounts for one domain. And to make sure you have good deliverability you need to do X, you need to do Y, you need to do Z. The average guy doesn't know that, right. And by doing it like this, you're speaking to the people who you want to sell to but you're more importantly you're showing that you actually know what you're talking about. I think that's the main idea behind it. So yes, there will people, people who watch a video, like there's a lot of people watch this video, right. And they're gonna try to do it themselves. But those are also not the same people that you'd be selling a three thousand dollar service to because they have no intention of ever right until down the line.
And then you build your brand through them because then you have their trust. If they succeed then you still build the brand. Yeah, it's a good point. Like I think I'm just different mindset but you, you got me to think differently there. That, that's, that that's very true. So then, then I can like, like don't hold back anything basically. Or like is there some case where, where like you, you break the rule of like being totally like showing everything? Like is there some case where you would break that rule also?
Yeah, well I think just be smart about it because I do try to give away everything I know even on my YouTube but there's very specific things I don't do. Right. Like for example I don't show my own cold email campaign like word for word. Like I, I have it inside the program of like the specific email sequence I use to generate calls. But I'm not going to give that on YouTube because I also don't want a thousand people copying what I'm writing word for word, right? Because that's what people do, right? And it's gonna not. It's gonna stop working essentially, right? So I don't do that. But like, I think when you're teaching people, so what I do do, I don't give away the word for word. But what I do instead is I come up with like a sample email and explain to them why it works, right? That's that, like the logic behind it. You know what I mean? So like, the reason why you want to use, say this specific sentence is because of X, Y and Z. The reason why this call to action is good is because xyz. But what I don't do is I don't just be like, here is my example word for word. Here's the answer. Like, the people who watch it, they'll need some level of problem solving, right? They'll have to look at what I'm saying and kind of think for themselves as to how they want to. How they want to go and about approaching that as opposed to just being like, oh, this is the exact word for word. Let me just copy this, right? So I think that's kind of what I do. To answer your question, I would not really, I wouldn't necessarily gatekeep anything. I would just teach people like, as in as much detail as you can, right? Think about example. If you're teaching the best friend how to set up send coach from what you know, Amazing. You know what I mean? It's like that.
Yeah, great. I love it. Yeah. Okay, cool. So. So that's, that's like a good part of the vehicle covered. Like now I understand more what to do then, then maybe in the maybe late second half or something or mid second half, then it maybe I could put in some more kind of when we are like approaching the close, like creating some comparisons, you know, uh, will you do that? Like, like before and after? You know, many people do. Um, like, are there any other, like, things I could, could like do or like, where could I look to find, you know, what kind of questions should I ask to kind of tailor my unique twist on my vehicle? You know, that that's what I'm trying to get at, you know, where, where, where would you recommend like, like where, where, where would you lucky if you didn't know what you knew? You know?
Yeah.
To, to.
Okay, so I think to answer your question, the main thing is the reason why you also want to share as much as you can is because remember how I mentioned that the people that we are selling to are not the people who are going to try it for free. Right. Like, the people who are free, they're trying for free whether yo. Like, no matter what. Right. They're just gonna figure it out. But what you want to do is, as you're watching, as someone watching the video, the. What they're gonna think to themselves are three things. The first one is, this is a lot of work. I don't want to spend 10 hours of my life doing this. The second thing you want to think is, this sounds complicated. I don't want to try this myself and have it not work because it just sounds too hard and I don't know what I'm doing. And the third thing you want people to think is, okay, if I could find a way to trade my money to get someone who saved me my time and make sure this works right away, I'm gonna pay them. Those are the three things you want people to think. And at the end of the video, you're gonna call that out specifically because people are already thinking it. So you're gonna reinforce what people are thinking.
This is so good. Yeah. Because when I understand where I want to get them, then I can have a goal for how I structure. I think that's also definitely something I've been missing to, like, know where I want to get their mind to, you know, because then I can. Can like, structure things. So that definitely clears things up a bit, like, how to do that. But also I'm still like, a bit uncertain about that. Like, maybe more into, like, what is my goal in the beginning of this sales letter? Like, where do I want them to, like, what is what. What do I actually want to accomplish? You know? And then, Then. Then I go into. Now it's clear for sure. Like in the. Let's say, the presentation of the steps or like, the handling of the system. This is what I will take you through. This is the experience. This is how. How I remove the. Make it easy and remove the effort and sacrifice.
Yeah.
And that. That. That is clear. Then, for example. For example, to make it, we have like, the dream outcome, right. And we have like, the objections. And then. Then the one one thing would be, I guess, to you more. The more I could address the objections to. To make them feel it's achievable. Then the. So then I need to figure out, like, what are like, the actual objections.
Yeah.
Then I need also to understand the person and like, empathize with them more of it, I guess. And it's hard, it's hard to like, empathize just because I don't really understand the person who runs like recruitment agency.
I don't.
I had one customer like that in, so I can have a bit of reference, but I don't know any other people with. Besides the customers that had. In the SEO agency. Yeah.
Oh, how you want to do it at the end is so. So you see how like, even like the way what I'm talking about, it follows this framework, but it's not like words work the same. So because of those three things that you're getting people to think, right? I don't, I don't want to spend my time. This sounds too hard. I want to pay someone. You're calling this out. So you say something like, so that's about it. If you watch through this entire video and take action and implement everything I share with you about cold emails, you will be able to build a automated system that gets you three to five clients in the next 90 days. However, building this process might take you 20 to 30 hours of rent. So you're calling out. This might take you a lot of time. And even once you built it out, maybe it's not going to work, right? Whatever you're doing, maybe you made a small little mistake that compounded leading to the overall system just not getting you the results. So you call it the second thing, right? So you're calling that out. Or you can work with us where we will build the whole thing for you, where you don't lift a finger, meaning you don't spend your time doing this. And because we are experts at this, it will work from day one. So the emails that we send, you know, will work. So you're calling that out. That's the third thing that they're thinking about. And you're calling all three of these things out. And that's how you drive. Like, that's how you kind of make that compare and contrast. You're giving it away and saying, you could take action, follow this video and follow all these stuff that's completely viable. But if you try yourself, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, this will happen. That will cause it to not work and for you to waste a lot of your time. Or you could work with us where, because we were experts at this, this will work. You don't waste your time and you can just kind of focus on your actual business while we do it for you, and it will just work. You know what I mean? So in that same, like, you're like, you're Specifically calling out exactly what they're already thinking. You know what I mean? Like you're just reinforcing your belief and then you're called to action. So if this is something that you want us to build for you, then I have my calendar link in the description or if you're seeing this from an email that we sent you, just reply back, ask your questions or you know, set up a call and we will chat to see how we can help you. Right. And that's how you compare contrast and put the call to action onto it, which is, you know, driving it towards a call.
Yeah, I mean I, I asked when you said this kind of their, their goals. It's like to. This is too complicated. This is, you know, the thing you listed out before then I, I kind of got the. A feeling like a sense of, you know, because I, I need. I need to like like re. Feel. Feel the. Their objections and so I can like create emotion in the, in the call. That's what I think that that's where I need to go to create a successful like face letter. It's not enough to like just intex. Have it like intellectual and like because so I think needs. Things need to like kind of fall into place so I can like feel it and not only you know, understand it, you know that that is kind of. And they definitely clicked into place a bit with. When you listed these three things out and also with going like we're into depth with. With this video. Yeah, I think I definitely have like a good place to start and I.
Think to answer your question, I think how you're feeling because the term is called this is going to be your, I guess your first time doing it. I think that's a safe assumption. Obviously you're going to not have all the details that you're going to need, but that's why it's important to always iterate. But that's everything. It's like for example, the VSL that you start with is not going to be the same. Yes. All that you have in three months. Because three months from now you would have had a lot of conversations with a lot of recruitment agencies. Maybe you're hearing a lot of people giving you the same objection or asking the same question. And then you could go back and make version two of your VSL incorporating all of those objections, answering all of those common questions to make it better or even just even if you have nothing to add maybe three months from now because you're just going to be more comfortable. I don't Know, talking on camera or something like that, you know, that make your VSL better. Because I think the other aspect of VS2, right. Is the content is important because you can't just be Talking bullshit for 30 minutes or an hour because people won't listen to it. But the other aspect of it that makes it effective is in a way you're selling yourself. It's a video sales letter. You're selling yourself. There's a lot like there's an aspect of salesmanship there in the sense where like you're not like aggressively selling something in a pushy way, but it's your presentation style, it's how confident you are when you talk. Do you look professional? Like when you first. Because first impressions is a very, like, it's very important for videos. When people first click in your video, do you look professional or is there like a giant poster of a cartoon in your background?
Right.
Obviously that's not that professional either.
Also this, this there was, I think it was like a Harvard something like warmth. Like what was the other thing that, like warm trust, you know, that they really feel. Feel that. And then, then like later on in the call, it's like more about the competence and the authority kind of factor.
Exactly. That's totally.
Yeah.
If people don't trust you in the first like minute, they're not going to watch to find out what you have to say. Right. Or if, what lack of better words, it just sounds really boring type of thing. Right. Like people aren't going to do one hour video if it's just boring. Boring as hell. Right. So I think those are things that you will get better at as you do this. Right. Obviously the first one you do is not going to be like it's not going to be perfect. Right. That's, that's the truth. But those things do matter. And the better you do them, the better your results with the vsl, obviously. Right. It's kind of like for a job interview, right. Even if you are the most qualified candidate for a job, but you show up and you're wearing a hoodie, you have a messy bed in your background. What do you think your interviewer would think even if you went to the top university with the best grades, but you show up with a hoodie and you show up with a messy bed in your background. Like you're not like, you know what I mean? Right. They're going to be what's going on here? Like, like it's just not going to establish a good first impression. And whatever you talk about, they're gonna, it's gonna be less effective, right? People are gonna take away.
Yeah, yeah. These are like super like, like the basic things that definitely need to, to be in place, but like also things that are a little bit like, like maybe less, less obvious. All those people make mistake with those. But, but I was like at my co working a high ticket speaker consultant and like our consultant for coaching and it was like super nice about being a public speaker or like being a speaker on bsl, like anything. And the best takeaway I think I got from that one is to like changing in my mind so that the need and the pain from the other person is like greater than myself. You know, kind of reframing it so that you do it in service and contribution. And I think that probably is a thing that communicates this kind of warmth and. Like this kind of feeling that you're genuine. He's doing like no preparation, but he have this like the same kind of framework as Alex Muslim, like dream outcome. And then basically his talk is just handling objections and it can be changing beliefs and helping persons. But I think, and in your foundation, I was thinking in the first part of the course then you listed out this kind of beliefs. I think that also I really need to feel that I'm helping and that I'm valuable in relieving the pain. I think that for me will make a big difference to get get into that kind of state of mind, you know? Absolutely. Do you have any like, like advice or idea there, like in terms of that, you know?
Yeah. And the truth is, is that's not even like a fake belief. That's the truth.
Because yeah, it is, it is.
Every business owner, they just. This is a massive problem, right? Because the solution, okay, so obviously the specific solution is you're selling leads, you're selling cold emails. But what you're really selling as a solution is I will help you make more revenue in your business by helping you get new clients. That's what you are, that's the outcome that you're selling. And if you think about it from the other side, every business, they want more. Like, I mean everyone wants to make a million dollars, right? But why are they not able to make a million dollars in their business? Well, there's a lot of different reasons, but most likely the top reason, or at least near the top of that reason is because they're not able to get as many clients. Now obviously there's also like operational issues, they don't charge enough money like all of those other things. But that's Back, back end issues. The top end issue is the struggling to get new customers, paying them a lot of money, and as a result, you are giving them the solution. And this is a very good perspective to have even on your sales call. Because one of the largest mistakes that I personally made when I was first getting started was I would follow like, I would watch like YouTube videos and I would see like those, you know, like those sales script, sample sales script, whatever, and I would just take it. And I went through a lot of sales courses as well. And what I realized is those frameworks work for those people. But the most important thing that worked for me was treating it like a conversation and understanding that these people, they just, these business owners, they just have a problem. I'm the solution and I'm just going to ask some questions, find out what they're doing right now, what they're stuck on, why are they stuck there, and then more likely than not, they're going to say something along the lines of, well, the problem we have is we don't have meetings. The problem we have is we don't have enough clients. The meetings we are getting, it's not that consistent. So one week we might get three, the next week we might get six that we got, they might get one, we might get none. Right. It's inconsistent. That's the problem. When you say inconsistent, how do you mean? How are you currently going about generating new meetings? Oh, well, I am right now I'm relying on word of mouth and referrals. Right. I'm just asking.
Yeah, that's, that's a worry like that, that's something that, that people can be like very worried about like daily, you know, I don't know how, how if the money is going to, gonna make it, will I be able to do that vacation with my family that in three months that I'm planning? Maybe what cut it, you know, and maybe people have a loan and the prices on the loan is increasing, whatever. I, I think that's very key for me. I still have, I, I, it's not, you know, you know, when you have this kind of things and you're like on an intellectual level. Feels so true. But it's not like embodied like really for me. Like, I don't know, it's like just hard to like really, really feel that that thing for, for some reason I think that that's probably also. I, I think maybe I like really need to work on that like in my notebook and like kind of think, think through things. And I like that people like, really need this. But. But it's true. Like, besides maybe the product, it's. It's maybe the. The biggest thing.
Yeah.
And we can provide a lot of value. Value there.
And I think it's like, it's just a tough mindset to have in the beginning because you've never done it before, Right. And I think a lot. I think a lot of these things, they change over time. As you see, like, the results, you see that it works. You see that you're actually helping people, and it starts reinforcing inside your mind that it is true. Right. So in the beginning, it's like you have to, like, just tell yourself it's like that, right? Like, kind of like faking that. That belief. But even though you might be faking it in the beginning, the truth is, is that's how you should be thinking about it anyways.
Yeah.
And that's a very good. That will allow you to do well on sales calls. Because I think. Because I think the other thing too, right. Is a lot of people, they look at this specific business model or any business model, right? They look at the business model and they just see as a. I'm a get rich quick, I'm gonna just do this and make $10,000 off of these other people. Right? But. And I think that's not like, I wouldn't say that's objectively bad because I think that's, you know, the purpose anyone's in business is to make money. Right. So that's the truth. But the best way the people I've seen that have succeeded the most the quickest and myself is the perspective is, yeah, I'm aware that I'm making money, but I'm making money because I'm solving a massive problem, right? The larger problem I solve, the more money I make. So the people who succeed in any type of business has that kind of, like, mentality, that mindset where I'm here to solve a problem, and that's why I'm making $10,000, because my problem is a $100,000 problem, and I'm being paid 10%, a tiny percentage of the solution that I'm solving. Right. So that's a good mindset to have. And that's just the mindset that I don't. I don't know if people need it. But I think the people who have that mindset are more likely to succeed than the people who just look at it at Imma just do this, make a couple thousand dollars, and, you know, I just got, you know, made thousand Dollars by doing absolutely nothing type of thing. Right. So that's a good mindset to have, man.
But yeah, make total sense that, that it's, it resonates very strongly. But with what I, I believe and heard. Yeah, I think I need to work on that and I'm getting there.
Also.
Also, let's see, there's like in my mind the objection is that oh, there's all this kind of other like email like things is that, you know, it's, it's like so all it have been like existing for like so many years. There's this other new more cool things like like and the, there's like AI that is this kind of systems that automate LinkedIn outreach. You know, there's so many other better and cooler things, you know, that I kind of have that a bit in the back of my mind that is kind of competing with, you know, how would you deal with that? Like kind of just reframing so like, like what? Because you see so much of what email can do. So for you it's like easier to compare and say, oh, the email is like still like very valuable because of this and this and this reason, you know. Yeah. How would you, like, how do you think about that?
The number one thing that I learned, this is one of the biggest things that I learned while I was starting my lead generation agency, is never sell to someone who doesn't believe in the, in the vehicle. So for example, it's like you're trying to sell a BMW car to someone who doesn't even like BMWs. Right. There's zero chance that, well, there is a 1% chance, but you're going to have to do hoops to sell that BMW to someone who doesn't. But instead if you were selling a BMW to someone who is neutral or likes BMWs and your chance is a lot higher. And that's exactly the same as this, Right. I think cold emails is not like some random thing that just randomly appeared like half a year ago. It's been around for a long time. A lot of people know that it exists. They might not know specifically like the specifics behind it, but they're probably getting cold emails if they're a business owner. I get like 30 cold emails a day. Right? You get, you just get pitched so you know it exists. And if a lot of people are doing it, then it means it works. Right. I think that's a lot.
I mean I would say I'm a person that is very easy to sell about cold email, but I still don't believe it like 100 in my heart because I haven't used it and create a result. But I just see people talking about it. You know, it's kind of by analogy. I believe it's like by analogy but not by experience yet. And that, that is actually a very good, good situation now because this is actually you towards me. This is a situation that I will be with my customers maybe months from now. You know, the good customers that you talk about, the, the, the ones that I want to pitch. So, so what would you like to to kind of, you know, set that fire into the situation? What would you like for sure?
I think the main is you're not come with the angle that you know for certain that code emails work. And obviously in the beginning you might not believe that, but that's the truth. Right. Let's do work. Whether they believe code emails work or not, it will work and only sell to people to believe coding must work. So as part of the sales conversation, when you're having this like you know, on a zoom call with a prospect, one of the questions I always ask as a qualifying question is so how do you feel about coding those? Do you feel like cold emails can help you generate X, Y and Z meetings in the next month and if they say no, I don't believe cold emails will work or no, I think cold emails is spamming people. I think code most is illegal, then I don't even sell to those people. I'm just saying okay, no worries man. Thanks for your time today. I don't think there's a good fit here. Appreciate your time. So I just end it because there's no point in selling it like that.
