how I mastered the law of detachment to make millions in my 20s

YouTube transcript of Jimmy Fung (age 25) describing how adopting the “law of detachment” (letting go of fixation on outcomes) shifted his mindset and produced rapid financial and personal progress. He contrasts earlier struggles (year-long failure with dropshipping/agency) with later success in AI lead generation, credits focusing on daily inputs and identity ("becoming the millionaire self") rather than results, and gives a fitness analogy. The piece closes with a call-to-action to adopt the successful-version mindset.

I'm 25 years old and I literally made millions of dollars. And last month alone I made a little bit over $50,000. And it's pretty simple how I make my money, but that's really not what we're here to talk about today. Instead, I want to talk about what actually got me to the point where I can make $50,000 a month. And I could tell you exactly how I did it, all of the steps. Because it came from just simply not caring anymore. It came from completely detaching myself from reality. And. And I know it kind of sounds crazy to say that you get the richest when you're able to just let go, but it's true. You probably heard people say before, like, just let go. And it sounds super cliche, but the best advice that I could give anyone is to just let go, reality, let go completely. Because you're probably too way too attached to the results. And I know that this might come across as some bullshit mindset video, but it's 100% true. And once I internalize what, what I'm sharing in this video today, it kind of becomes inevitable for you to start seeing results and start seeing success with whatever it is they're trying to do with making money. All of these stuff. Because if you're putting in the work every single day and you're just still not seeing any results, it's probably because you're too focused on the outcome. Imagine if you are only focused on the internal, not the external, and you focus on becoming the best version of yourself. So speaking like your millionaire self, acting like your millionaire self and becoming the millionaire self instead of just obsessing over all of the results that come from it. And that's when you're able to just get your dream life. And what I'm talking about, it's called the law of detachment. And I know many of you guys have probably heard of this before, but just might not fully understand it or comprehend it. And let me actually first tell you exactly how this changed my life. Because when I was first getting started with my own journey, I of making money online, I actually got started with different business models like a marketing agency and a drop shipping store. And I remember that my entire goal was to make my first $1,000 online. I remember literally waking up every single day and being like, okay, what can I do to make a thousand dollars? Am I closer yet? I still haven't made a thousand dollars yet. What the fuck's going wrong, right? And I remember that was literally my entire thought process. And I remember months went by, literally around a year went by and I still struggling to make money. In fact, I didn't make a single dollar at all. Every single day. I just putting in, putting in the work and still wasn't seeing any results. And I remember just struggling, like that's really what it is. But after a while, after all of those business models, right, I actually ended up starting what I currently do, which is AI lead generation, which is a whole separate business model. And I kind of started it without the goal of making money. I wasn't like, I wasn't waking up being like, okay, so what can I do to make money online? My goal is to make $1,000. That was what I was like when I was running my drop shipping, my marketing store. But this time I started it more so from the perspective of skill development, trying to really just enjoy the process, if that makes sense, and just focusing on the skills itself that I needed to develop in order to make my first $1,000 online, make my first dollars online at all. And long and behold, I actually ended up getting to my first $10,000 month within my first three months. Now, how did I do this and how come it took me three months to go from zero to earning $10,000 per month online? Meanwhile, my first two businesses, my marketing agency and my drop shipping store, I literally went almost a year without making a single dollar online. Why is that? Well, I think the biggest thing was I was detached from the result. Right when I started my lead generation business again, I wasn't waking up every single day being like, okay, so today's the day that I finally make a thousand dollars. I didn't do that. I was just focusing more so on the actual process, becoming the person who is capable of making some money online. And it doesn't have to be making a large amount of money. It doesn't have to be making millions of dollars. That wasn't at all my mindset. My mindset instead was, okay, the version of me, the version of Jimmy, who is making a thousand dollars from his online business, who's making $10,000 per month from his online business. This is what he was doing, right? Every single day. He was waking up, he was reading a book about sales or marketing or something about business to learn about the business fundamentals, marketing fundamentals, sales fundamentals. He was learning every single day in terms of how to actually go out and get clients. He was doing the actual stuff every single day. He wasn't just sitting there reading books, watching YouTube videos and not taking actions about it he was doing something, even if it was something relatively small, he was still making some kind of moves each and every day. He was showing up every single day, right? He was putting in the work each and every single day. And those are the tiny individual actions that led to the overall results of actually seeing some kind of results, right? And that's really what it comes down to. Because the biggest thing that I had to realize, that I had to learn was the struggle itself is the chase. And you probably hear that all the time. And again, I don't want this to be some kind of, like, cheesy video, but it really is true, right? The second that you're able to let go of what it is that you're actually chasing is you will actually end up getting what you are chasing, if that makes sense, right? You don't want to. You need to just stop micromanaging the outcome, if that makes sense, right? So, for example, right now, I'm 25 years old, and my biggest goal right now is to get these, right? That was my biggest goal for the longest time, was to build a ton of muscle, get some abs, right? Get these, basically. And for the longest time, I've been hitting the gym for the last two to three years, and I'm still not very decent, right? Like, I have some muscle, but I'm not exactly dazed, right? But meanwhile, over the last few months, I caught myself thinking, okay, so over the last two years of me going to the gym, I just haven't been able to achieve what I've been trying to do, which is, in this case, getting these. So instead, maybe the way I'm thinking about this is I'm just thinking about this in completely the wrong way. So now the way I think about it is whenever I wake up, I'm thinking about, okay, how can I get 1% heavier every week? How can I lift 1% heavier every week? How you get 1% stronger every week? How could I eat better and get a cleaner diet? How can I stay active each and every single day? And by doing that, over the last two months, I literally put on more muscle onto my. Onto my body frame than I literally did over, like, the last two years, right? And it's not because I was waking up every single day being like, okay, how can I get more muscle? How could I get more deced? Instead, I was asking myself, okay, the D's version of Jimmy, what is he doing every single day? What type of foods is he eating, right? How much protein is he consuming? What's his sleeping like? How Active, is he. Is he going walks, is he going runs, how often is he at the gym? And by thinking about it like that, I'm able to replicate and duplicate those inputs that will inevitably lead to. Lead to the outcome that I'm looking for. And it's the exact same thing, exact same way that you want to think about inside of your business journey. If you are, right now, if you are in college just trying to earn some income online because you just know that you don't want to work a job after you graduate, or maybe you are in a 9 to 5 job, you've been doing it for a couple of years, and you realize that it's just not very fulfilling. It's not what you're looking to do for the rest of your life. And you're looking to earn income online, right? The best thing you can do is think about the version of yourself who is successfully making money. And it's probably going to be hard, right? It obviously is going to be hard because maybe you even have some doubts right now as to whether this is all even possible and whether you can even make $1,000 online or $5,000 online or even $10,000 line. And that's completely normal. But I want you to sit there, I'm challenging you to just sit there for even 10 minutes and think about the version of you who is making money, even a dollar, even a hundred bucks, even $1,000. What type of actions are they doing? What time are they waking up every single morning? What does the morning routine look like? Sure, maybe they're going to school during the day, maybe they're going to work during the day, but how about after school? How about after work? What are they doing? Are they going home every single night and smoking weed and drinking beer every single day? Or are they going home, they're going to the gym, listening to some podcast about the gym, maybe reading some books, maybe watching some YouTube videos, taking action on certain things in business that will lead to them making money. What exactly is that version of you who is successfully making money, what it is that they're doing? And that's the biggest takeaway that I want you to focus on. Right? Is even for me, the second I stopped thinking about the outcome of making money was when I surprisingly started making the most money I've ever started making. And that's entirely the law of detachment. You're detaching yourself from the outcome, but instead you're not do. You're not focusing in a way where you're detaching yourself from Reality, right? You're not like, that's not at all what I'm talking about. Instead, what I'm talking about is focusing on the inputs that inevitably leads to the outcome. What exactly the results that you're looking for, right? So, for example, back to that example of my own fitness journey, right? That I'm focusing now on the journey of just becoming healthier. And I know for certain that over time it will lead to me just having a better physique and just looking way better, right? I'm moving away from. I'm moving to the version of me. Like I'm asking myself, what is the D's version of me? How would they be moving? Right? What would the successful version of you be doing? How would that person be moving? Right? What actions would it be doing each and every single day? And the second that you're able to really internalize the thought is the second that success in business or success in whatever aspect of life that you're trying to focus on, it's just going to be way easier to you. It's just going to come and flow to you, right? And that's just the way the universe is, right? The universe is energy, right? Money is just energy. But what do you have to do in order to get that form of currency? Is the number one question you should be asking. Right? And I'm filming this video today because I want to put this video out onto Internet so that when, you know, when I'm five years older than I am now or 10 years from now, I'm able to look back and see the mindset that I was able to have at this point in time. Right? What is the biggest mindset shift that unlocked the ability for me to make money online? Right? And again, a lot of people think that it's about like the tactical stuff, right? Like the specific skill sets that you have to do, the specific things, the tactics, the email scripts, all of these different things. And sure, yes, those things are important. But ultimately, the biggest lesson that I've learned is success in business, success in life. 90% of it is mindset. It's about what you think and hear, and that's the most important thing. It's your mental, right? Someone who has the right mindset is able to replicate their success, right? I'm sure you've probably heard the quote or stories of people saying that if you saw like a billionaire and they lost it all, they'd probably be able to make it back in a relatively short period of time. Why is that? Right. It's obviously they have the skills, but it's not even about that. It's about their mental. It's about the mindset. It's about the way that they're actually going about thinking about specific things, right? About success, the type of person that they need to become in order to recreate their success. But that's pretty much it that I wanted to share for this video. Hopefully you found it valuable. Hopefully you liked it. If you did, make sure you drop me a. Like, make sure you drop me a success or make sure you drop me a subscribe. And I think the biggest takeaway, if there's one thing that you want to take away from this video is ask. Just ask yourself, what is the success? What is the successful version of you doing each and every single day? What type of actions are they doing every day? How would that person move? And I want to challenge you to start taking those actions, to move in that way. But that's it for me today. And I'll see you in the next one. See ya.
