how I replaced my income online before quitting my 9-5

Personal narrative by Jim (Jim Feng) explaining how he replaced his income online without quitting his 9–5. He describes graduating in 2022, taking a tech-sales role at IBM while living in Toronto, then experimenting (and initially failing) with a social-media-marketing-agency course and multiple dropshipping attempts before later achieving substantial online revenue (claims over $1M across three years and first $10,000/month while still employed).

My name is Jim Feng and over the last three years I made over a million dollars online. But the craziest part is when I first got started, I didn't quit my job, right in order to do this. I didn't just randomly show up one day at work and I was like, alright, today's the day. Throw in my resignation letter and just never show up to work and never work another day in my life. That's not at all what I did. And in this video today I'll be showing you exactly and talking about exactly how I was able to replace my income online before quitting my 9 to 5 job, how I was able to get started with other ways of making money and I didn't need to quit my job to get started. And the reason I'm making this video is because I'm just so fed up with just watching and seeing so many people get fooled into thinking that in order to create financial freedom, in order to make money online, they need to quit their job, right? Because I think there's just so many people online, you know, I literally just got it right. Right now I AM Literally, it's 12pm Noon here in Toronto and I'm a little go for lunch, right? And right before this, what prompted me to film this video was I literally just saw an ad of a guy literally standing in front of a Lambo being like, yo, if you start, if you buy my course and start drop shipping, you'd be able to quit your 9 to 5 and turn into a millionaire, right? And it's just so, so, so, so not true at all how that works. And I'm here to tell you that if you're looking to figure out how to make money online, how to increase your income, you do not at all need to burn the ships and jump right into starting a business and quit your 9 to 5. You do not need to do that. And in this video, I'll be walking you through exactly how I was able to do it, how I was literally able to go from 0 to $10,000 per month, my first $10,000 per month while working my full time 9 to 5 job, my full time job that required 40 hours a week where I was going to office every single day. And I'll be sharing with you exactly how to do that. So to start, in order to really understand, understand why I believe that you don't need to quit your 9 to 5 right away in order to start an online business and increase your income, I first want to share a little bit more about my story. And it's not going to be some hypey marketing story, but rather just so that you understand where I was coming from, right? Because every single one of us, we each have our own experiences that really shape us, who we are and increases or decreases the probability that we actually succeed in different online businesses and in whatever our goals are, right? And I don't want to this sound like some crazy mindset stuff, but just want to give you kind of what my $0.02 are, right? So basically back in 2022, around that time, I literally just graduated college, right? Graduated university, I studied business in university and I was actually able to, once I graduate, I got an offer to work at IBM in a tech sales role. And that's basically what I was doing, right? Tech sales role. It was a six figure job, it was a big great company, my parents are really proud, my friends were really happy and on paper everything was good, right? And it was, right. I was making decent money, I had benefits, I liked my colleagues, I for the most part really liked my job, right. Obviously there were certain aspects of my job that I just hated. You know, I didn't really like going to work every single day, right? I would literally take me, take me half an hour to an hour every single day of getting stuck in traffic, just driving to work. And you know, I just knew that being a young person who just graduated university and moving into the workforce, I knew that my job at IBM, I wouldn't want to be doing that for the next 30, 40 years of my life. Until I retired when I was 65 years old, I did not at all want to do that. But more importantly, one of the biggest reasons why I knew that I needed to find another way, another way of making money, preferably online, was because I knew that in Toronto things were really expensive, right? The average house in Toronto goes for over a million dollars. And I knew that even though I was making six figures a year after taxes, after paying for rent, after paying for my car, my insurance, all of these different things, paying for clothes, paying for food, I knew that, you know, the math just did math basically, right? I knew that the chances of me being able to provide for my loved ones, being able to buy, buy a home, get, you know, get married, all of these different things, these things are expensive and I knew that I probably wouldn't be able to do that while at my job in a financially smart and intelligent way. So basically that's essentially what I was doing, right? It was a 40 hour a week job where I was going to office Three to four times a week. And I just knew that I needed to start something else to make money online. And that's exactly what I did, right? So the very first thing I did was I bought a course, right? And I remember that course was teaching me how to start something called a social media marketing agency, where essentially I was partnering up with these different brands, like these e commerce brands like Nike or Gymshark or Lululemon, and us essentially helping them create their email marketing. So, for example, if you ever bought clothes from Nike or if you ever go on Gymshark and you just go on the website, there's gonna be like an opt in box that's like, register your email and receive like 10% off. And then once you put in your email over there inside of your email inbox, right after that, they'll send you an email with like a coupon code and things like that that gives you 10% off. That's exactly what that course was teaching me how to do. And, and I remember when I first got started, I was just so motivated. I was like, all right, this is the thing that's going to allow me to quit my job. I'm just gonna go all into this, I'm going to dive right into it and I'm gonna become a millionaire. But that's again, not at all what happened because I actually started my social media marketing agency and I did that for around half a year. And by the way, this was while I was still in university, right? So there's a little bit of an overlap of when I first bought this social media marketing course. I was in my final few months at university and I actually ended up graduating during that time, right? And basically six months passed by and I still never made a single dollar, right? I actually signed two clients, two of these e commerce brands. They were selling like supplements, like a mushroom supplement or something weird like that, right? But I didn't charge money, right? Because my thought process was, okay, if I just work for free, I could get experience and I could do all of these things, but that is simply not true. So I did that for six months. I signed two clients, didn't make any money, and I was basically working for free. And one day I just woke up and I was like, all right, enough is enough, right? I've done this for six months. I didn't make a single dollar online. What am I really doing here? So then I proceeded to buy another course, right? And it was a course on drop shipping, organic drop shipping, where essentially I would just be making TikTok videos of different products that I'm buying off, like, AliExpress, Alibaba, these different things. And I would link people to my Shopify store, and I would mark it up, right? I would buy the products for, like, five, six dollars, and I'd sell it online for, like, $25, $30. And that's exactly what I did. And I actually ended up buying a couple of different products and, you know, trying to make it work, but, you know, surprise, surprise, I didn't make any money. And I actually ended up losing even, like, actually losing money, right? Cause I would have to buy all of these different products and actually lost a couple hundred bucks. Now, around this time, I was also in.
