Izzy Kiver teaches that a sanctuary is any place, person, ritual, or tradition that anchors your life and lets you recharge. The most effective ones are simple and personal. Regular return to your sanctuary, especially in hard times, gives you emotional energy and clarity to pursue what matters.

My dear child, the sixth teaching is sanctuary. A sanctuary can be a place or a person that you choose to be the anchor point in your life. A sanctuary is something that you dedicate, you build, and you nourish and nurture. Your spouse may become your sanctuary. A certain garden or a special place, a room in the house, can be your very own sanctuary. To develop a sanctuary, you must nurture it, you must appreciate it, you must be able to come back to it whenever things are difficult, whenever you feel the world is against A sanctuary is special because it allows you to come back to be yourself, come back to who you are. Sanctuary is not something to be taken for granted. It doesn't have to be flamboyant. It doesn't have to be fanfaired and fancy. The best sanctuaries are often simple. A tradition, a ritual, a retreat. A sanctuary is what allows you to pull away from all the madness, all the chaos, everything that feels like it's taking up all of your time and energy. And a sanctuary allows you to retreat, to recharge, to become yourself again. And be more of who you are. And so I advise you, my child, find your sanctuary and hold on to it. Nourish it, treat it well, because it is the very thing that will give you the energy and the ability to bleed with success in your vision.
