The Third Teaching — Vision

Izzy Kiver argues that a clear vision spanning 7 to 10 years is essential for achieving greatness. Without it, you're a ship without a compass. Vision filters obstacles, drives action, and becomes the moral compass that fuels courage, purpose, and happiness.

My dear child, the third teaching: Vision. In order to do anything great in this life, you must have a clear vision for where you want to go and how you will get there. Every great endeavor, every wonderful thing that has ever come into this world came through a plan and action. These are the third and fourth teachings: vision and courage. To have a vision in your life means you have a clear path, something that is so meaningful to you that no matter how many obstacles come your way, you ignore them. You don't see obstacles. You only see the path you laid out in front of you. Great actors are faced with infinite amounts of rejection, the world yelling at them, the world failure. And you too will encounter all of these things in pursuit of your vision. The difference between you and any other person that has tried in the past will be your vision. It is vision that drives countries to success. It is vision that creates entire movements that capture the world. It's vision that allows you to become something so much greater than yourself. Vision and a sense of purpose and belonging. These are the things that will give you a life of happiness and success. Without a clear vision, you're like a ship at sea without any direction. You may wander and go in circles endlessly until you drown. It is vision that is the moral compass, the geophysical compass that takes you places that you want to be, whether it is to climb to a new social class, to bring peace in your country, to become the person that you tell yourself every single day you're going to be. It is only vision that gets you there. Vision brings you faith. Vision bleeds into courage. Vision guides your sense of purpose. Your sense of happiness and understanding all come from vision, which is why my gift for you today is to have a clear and focused vision and direction in your life. Something you can stand by. Something that is meaningful to you. And something that you can really, really stick to for the next 7 to 10 years. Vision is everything.
