Hello. I'm going to explain to you today the process of collecting the care sample for the htma. We will be digitally sending you a sheet that has all of the instructions. So there's an overview of everything that I'm explaining here to you today in this video. In that instruction sheet, we also will be sending you the actual requisition form for the test. This one you will need to fit print out so that you can fill this out and send it in. The sections that need to be completed are all highlighted in pink, so make sure that you complete all of that. You'll want to include the type of shampoo that you use, all of your personal information, check off your top five current symptoms, and then all of the payment section you can ignore. You just need to do the highlighted pink sections. You also will need a piece of clean white paper. I've cut it in half to make it a little better size to work with. On this paper, you are going to want to write your name as well as the type of shampoo you use and our account number with the lab, which is 9251. So write that in the middle on one side of the page. It's a little easier to write it on there. Before you collect the sample. Then just set that down with that information face down so you're collecting the hair on the clean side of the paper. I also have stainless steel scissors, we have hair cutting scissors, but if you have any stainless steel scissors at home, you don't necessarily need to purchase specifically hair science scissors. And then you'll need an envelope, just a regular envelope to send that back. And we'll provide the address that you'll need to put on there. When you're collecting the sample, you want to make sure that the hair is clean, that there's no product on it. If you use a heavy conditioner that leaves a lot of residue, you'll probably want to skip your conditioner for that wash. You want to make sure that it's dry before you start collecting the sample so that you have a better idea of how much you're getting. And then you also want to make sure that if you color your hair, if you chemically treat it in any way, that you have enough untreated root to collect just the section of root of your hair that is untreated. You don't want to include any hair that has been colored or chemically treated in any way. As far as where you want to collect this sample, technically you can collect it from anywhere, but it's Recommended to collect your samples from the back portion. The back lower mid to lower portion of the head. The hair tends to be a little denser back there, so you won't need as much overall to collect your sample. What we like to do is collect lots of little tiny snips so that you don't have a big bald spot. So you're just going to separate the hair out. Ideally, I'll use a comb. I don't have one with me today. Just kind of take out a very small little section, cut it as close to the root as possible and, oh, I should say you will want to print out that instruction sheet as well, unless you have a ruler handy, because you are only going to be keeping the inch closest to the scalp. So there's a little guide on our instruction sheet that shows you what an inch is. So you're going to only collect an inch worth of hair and you'll want to just drop that. Onto the clean paper. Once you've collected the sample, you want to make sure that the amount that you collect is approximately a heaping teaspoon worth of hair. We'll ask you to send a picture so that we can confirm that it looks like it's enough hair for this sample. Just place it in the middle of this white clean paper that we're going to use to kind of make you do a small makeshift envelope. This is not a full sample. I'll stress that we're just doing a small amount from our associate here. We don't want to take as much as needed from her. We'll include some pictures for you, though, with the instructions. So you're just going to fold this up into kind of a little makeshift envelope. So this hair sample is closed up for the lab. I'm just going to fold this and I'm just going to use regular Scotch tape to tape it up on the outside. As long as all of the tape is on the outside and the paper is clean, you can just collect this sample onto clean paper. Do not ever put the sample in a plastic bag and send it. If you put it in a plastic bag, they can't get the sample out due to static and they won't be able to have enough hair to test. So always collect this. You're just going to go ahead and take this and fold it up and include it in the envelope, the addressed envelope with your form and mail that off to the loan.
