Jack Conte delivers a poetic monologue about life's urgency, using nautical imagery of sinking boats and crashing waves. He repeats that "the time has come for all good men to sink or swim or die" while pleading for "a bit more time," balancing stark images of decay with a universal longing to pause life's fleeting moments.

Chapters

The time has come for all good men to sink or swim or die. The boats are broke and the bow is stuck and the waves are crashing high. Oh, wouldn't it be nice to have a bit more time? Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to have a bit more time? The time has come for all good men to sink or swim or die. The time has come for all good men to jump or float or fly. The cockpit cracked and the captain croaked and the wind is tearing by. Wouldn't it be nice to have a bit more time? Yeah. Wouldn't it be nice to have a bit more time? Yeah. Oh, Jack. Time for all good men to want or wish or try. Our brains are blank and our bones are breaking and the years are blowing by. Oh, I need this help.
