Short first-person hiring advice from Jacqueline Elliott (YouTube #shorts). Elliott argues against hiring only conventionally "qualified" candidates and instead prefers hiring "underdogs" — individuals who have overcome hardship (e.g., started from "rock bottom", difficult childhoods) because they can empathize with and better support others, serve as living examples of change, and are motivated to help clients.

Building what we have has taken a lot of work. Okay. It's not an easy thing, But I think a lot of people, when they're hiring, they try to find qualified people. They're like, the best. They've done something else, you know, or whatever that kind of compliments them, and they're trying to get that incorporated. What we do is we actually go to the underdogs, because we're the underdogs. We go to the products of our training. The one that started from rock bottom, the one that had to prove himself, the one that needed to go through the grind, that probably had a bad childhood when they were small, something like that, you know, something that they had that impact impacted them, that they're like, man, you know what? I am ready to do good and change somebody's life. Somebody that somebody's going to be on the phone with them, and the other person on the line could be going through hell. And this person is going to really understand them and really take that to heart and be like, you know what? I was in your shoes, and I can help you. Because I learned with Andy or Jacqueline or the Elliot group that I can be better. And I am this and this. I'm the example now, and that's what we want.
