Learn These Leadership Skills or Bankrupt Your Business

In this solo motivational talk, Jacqueline Elliott addresses entrepreneurs and small‑business owners, arguing that lasting success starts with building the leader before the business. She shares personal anecdotes about the sacrifices she made when founding her training company, then outlines a framework for creating repeatable habits and systems that can be duplicated as the organization grows. Elliott contrasts short‑term revenue‑focused thinking with a long‑term vision, urging listeners to define specific five‑year outcomes, document processes, and cultivate discipline in all areas of life. She stresses the importance of vulnerability, coaching, and culture when building teams, describing how leaders must model behavior, communicate clearly, and inspire through personal example. Throughout, she challenges the audience to reflect on their mindset, resilience, and willingness to pivot, and concludes with a call‑to‑action to attend in‑person events at her Arizona headquarters for deeper guidance.

Hey, bro. Spend months in the corner, just me and my bag. I'm used to this, I'm known to that. I know I just gotta adapt. Hey, let's wait on your Spotify rap. Hi! What is up, guys? Thank you so much. I really appreciate you guys being here. What an awesome crowd and a good-looking one. That really is helpful when you're I'm talking to people that actually look good out there. So thank you for that. I talk a lot about leadership and it's very, very important to me. It really is. For those of you that are just starting and those of you that have been in the business that have seen some results or maybe struggling a little bit, how you build a thriving business that right now you can be excited about but also stay excited about for the future. Build the leader before you build the business. I truly, truly believe in building that leader before you build a business. We became millionaires before we even made a dollar. And we decided— and the only way to get to that point was to make sure we had that right foundation. So with all of this, I'm going to talk to you about building the foundation and thinking as a business owner. You know, sometimes we want the quick money and the quick wins. And that's okay. We want to stay ambitious in that way. But I'm going to talk to you about how to keep it lasting. I'm going to give you some scenarios and I'm going to give you a lot of examples I'm going to help you think through things so you can plan for today and the future. I promise you, if you start in the right place with the right heart, the money will come. That's easy. We know how to make money. We don't have problems with money. We're trying to build more leaders. So today I'm going to talk to you in that way as a leader. Okay, these are the 2 roads. Road 1, revenue now. I know you're going to learn how to make revenue now. That's great. How are we going to keep it? How are we going to multiply? Whether it's you by yourself right now and you're barely trying to figure it out, I need you to start thinking like a business owner and how you're going to duplicate this stuff. Okay, I'm going to get you ready for that today. What habits are you already building? Road 1 habits or Road 2 habits? Ask yourself that question. Have you started making calls? Have you recorded yourself making those calls? What about when you bring in some help? What is it going to look like? Oh, come watch me work. And then what happens when you have 3 people? They're all watching you, right? And then what happens when you have 5 people? How are you going to multiply that? Are they still going to be watching you? Are you going to set them up with somebody that closes the deals, but maybe they don't really do things the way that you want to because you're giving them too many exceptions along the way because a deal closes? What habits are you creating? What's one thing you can document or standardize this week so it doesn't become a problem later? Think about it. Is it your phone calls? It's how you hunt for deals. What kind of deals are you looking for? 5 years from now, what do you want your business to look like? You have to be really specific. Everybody knows where they want to go. Everybody knows which direction they're at. But look at your daily habits that you have. What's your home life look like? What's your discipline looks like in everything that you do? How you do one thing is how you do everything. Or maybe you just came in and you told your family, hey, believe in me, I'm going to start this thing and it's the right thing to do. But like, what about when your family doesn't believe you and they've already trusted you to do something and you let them down? What's different this time? How do your eyes look? How convinced are you? Like, are you willing to put your back against the wall and be like, hey, I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna make sure it works? Are you looking for the easy way out? That's a question. That's the power of outlasting. Do you have any idea how much hate we got when we started our company? How many sacrifices we needed to make? How many mistakes we made in the past that people were throwing in our faces? We made a lot of sacrifices. If I would have gone to my family and told them, hey guys, I'm selling everything, we're gonna go sleep on mattresses and we're gonna go start this training company and we're gonna have people from all over the the world come and see us. What do you think my family would have said? You're crazy. What are you doing? Are you okay? Like, what do you mean you're gonna go sell your house? You're gonna go get everything you worked so hard for? You're gonna go live in this little tiny place and put your kids on there in little cots next to you? Are you kidding me? Like, what's wrong with you? Everybody, when they start something big, has to make some sacrifices. What are you complaining about today? Maybe, you know, you have to find leads. Maybe you have to sell your car. Maybe you have to do different things. Maybe you're talking to the wrong people about what you're trying to build and they're talking you out of stuff and they're just waiting for you to complain so they can tell you, I told you so. What does your circle look like? I want you to really know if you can't really think, hey, what does my life look like around this business in 3 to 5 years? And you can't be specific about what you want. it to look like, how would you expect to get there? You're going to have to be the visionary and architect your own life. If it's chances, dude, you're gonna get smoked. How you did everything in 2025, if you go with that same attitude and work ethic, is not gonna be the same results in 2026. You see the way AI is moving, you see all of these things. Everybody's gonna smoke you if you give the same effort that you did in 2025. And you probably think, well, I'll do this later, but right now you have more time than ever to do everything. That you need to. You're never going to get more time than you have today. You got your kids, you got your wife, or maybe you're single in here. Whatever it is, you complain about time right now. Hey, this is the news. You're never going to get more time. As you get more success, as you do more deals, as you make more money, you're going to have less and less time. Hey you, if you're watching this because something in your life or business feels harder than it should, And you're ready for more than just a YouTube video to solve it, come see us. We run in-person events out of our headquarters in Arizona. Text me at 623-224-9411 right now, and I'll point you in the right direction. Let's keep going. How do you become that person that you're proud of? How do you become that person that has that discipline, that authority, that one that basically has that on switch all the time? A lot of times we're complaining about our situation. When is it going to get easy? When is it going to get easy? If somebody wants to get promoted within our company, hey, solve a big problem in our company, I promise you, you will make an unlimited amount of money. Same thing goes for you. I want you to think about you and self-reflect as you're going through and building the person that you need to become. How coachable are you? How fast can you pivot when you make a mistake? As you're building a team, this is important. It's a two-way street. Okay, people can look up to you for your strengths, but they will connect with you through your weaknesses, through your vulnerability, through the struggles and all the stuff that goes in that way. But How do you inspire them? How do you make them believe like they're— hey, you know, I've been where you are and we're going to grow together. You know, with all of our team, the biggest thing that we've had when people come and work with us at the Elliott Group is like, man, you know, like they see the standard, they see all this stuff, and they almost feel a little intimidated. Do I even deserve to be here? I have to paint a picture that, man, I believe in you. You have the ability to do this, this, this, and that. And I have to paint that picture just like with your kids. Part of— I keep talking about this stuff because part of being a good leader is that I had to learn how to talk to my kids. You might have 3 kids. I have 3 kids. I know I talk to one of my kids and I tell him, hey, go make your bed. And he's like, okay, Mom, I'll do it right now. Hey, buddy, you gotta make your bed. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Mom, I got it, I got it, got it. Hey, bud, if you don't make your bed, I'm gonna beat your ass. It's like, okay, now he's listening, right? And then the other one, you're like, hey, go make your bed. It's like, okay, Mom. Oh no, I already did it. It's like, you're gonna have to learn how to communicate with your people, but you have to believe in them in order to do so. No matter what their personality is, the belief has to come from you as a leader, right? They have to understand that. So you have to be really good at painting pictures, transferring that emotion, believing in your product, not complaining. What does your mind look like as you're talking about the opportunity? Are you the one that's like, hey, you look nice, and you're like, oh my gosh, did you notice I have my hair is all messed up? Or yeah, oh, your shoes are cute. Oh yeah, but did you notice this is— are you negative? Can you take a compliment? Can you show the bright side of things? Are you smiling enough? Are you complaining of the things that went wrong? Are you inspired by somebody that complains about everything? How is your mind? To inspire and lead others, you're going to have to be that example so that people want to be like you. All of a sudden, they want to please you. It's not about money. They don't even care. It's all about the culture that you're providing and the person that you are. You're not saying one thing and doing another. You're leading from the front and you're not too good. Do you talk to them as business owners or employees when you bring in people? What does that look like? Can you build a legacy that multiplies? And some of you guys can't even think that far right now. Okay, and I'm telling you, when we started our business, we were like, hey, you know what, we're just gonna— we're just gonna sell, we're gonna make money. And that's awesome, that's good. We, we did that, but we also hit a big stump because we were helping people make money, we were doing okay, but we weren't fulfilled. We were helping people and they were still going out, they were cheating on their wives, they were out, they had addictions, they're addicted to porn. They're addicted to drugs. They were doing all of these things and we were thinking we were helping all of these people make money but they weren't making the right choices. So, if you start building the right leaders, you can really have the opportunity to actually build people and lives. But if you can't think that way right now and you can't envision that, later on when you make a little money, you're going to feel empty and that's why you have a lot of business owners that are so lost right now. So, that's why I'm planning these scenarios to you right now so you understand what it looks like to actually build something that lasts.
