A short YouTube motivational monologue (voice: Jacqueline Elliott) that asks listeners to examine what's holding them back — family, friends, or self-doubt — and contrasts perceived opportunity structures between Mexico and the speaker's current country. The speaker uses an anecdote about someone named Carlos (from the speaker's hometown in Mexico) to argue that in Mexico social factors like family name limit success, whereas in the current country individual belief and persistent effort make success possible; the clip ends with an exhortation to self-reflect and act.

What's holding you back for your next endeavor? Is it your family? Is it your friends? Is it you? Do you not believe in yourself? We live in such a giving world nowadays. You know, I was listening to Carlos's story earlier, and I think it's really interesting. He's from the same place in Mexico that I'm from. And in Mexico, it's like, you have to have the right last name in order to make it. It's not like here. Like here, you can just believe in something. All you got. You can be. You can be living on the streets, and if you fight hard for what you want, you will make some noise and make it happen. That's where we live now. It's a beautif. Beautiful country. Most countries aren't like that. So ask yourself that question. What's holding you back?
