3 ways to regulate your nervous system so you can perform at the highest level. One is just good old-fashioned breathing. You want to make your exhale longer than your inhale, so 4 seconds in, 6 seconds out. You do that 5 to 6 times, you will notice a physiological difference in how you feel. Number 2 is the posture and the movement of your body. Are you moving quickly? Are you rushing around? Are you slouched over? These are signaling physiologically to your body that you're in a threat state. Slow yourself down. Walk slowly, move slowly, think slowly. Number 3 is the tension in your muscles. Are you tense? Are your shoulders tight? Is your jaw tight? You have a pit in your stomach? Understand where that is. Develop that skill of interoception and be able to relax the body. When you relax the body, you signal safety. Save this video for the next time you are dysregulated so you can regulate.
