What if there was a repeatable process, an inner operating system that could upgrade your entire life? Not some motivational pound your chest hype, not this think positive stuff, but a framework grounded in neuroscience, energy, behavior, and identity that actually transform you into the person you know you're capable of being. Most people believe change happens slowly, painfully. You gotta struggle inconsistently. But the truth is, when you know how to operate your inner world, change becomes inevitable. This episode is the foundation of everything I teach. This is the built framework, and once you understand it, your life will never be the same. Welcome back to Built for Impact. I'm Jake Burhans, and this is the podcast where inner peace meets high performance and where building your dream life starts from the inside out. Today is a special episode because this is, this is the one I've never actually recorded until now. The full breakdown of the BUILD Framework. So B, break limiting beliefs. U, upgrade your operating system. I, imagine your future. L, let go of the past. T, transcend into your new self. Or transcend into your 2.0 identity. This is literally the inner system for reprogramming your inner world, or the, the 5-step system for reprogramming your inner world. This is how you design your identity, rewrite your patterns, and create your reality consciously. So let's walk through each of these pillars and some of the mechanics behind them. I'll keep it a brief, high-level overview here, but first is break limiting beliefs. Oh my gosh, is this a big one? Everything starts here. So your paradigm, your internal model of the world, shapes your entire reality. Humans once believed the earth was flat, and that belief shaped what we thought was possible until the paradigm shifted. We used to think that we couldn't run a 4-minute mile until whatever his name was, Roger Bannister, broke the 4-minute mile. And then everyone started running a 4-minute mile because they believed it was possible. That right there shows the power of belief. But our personal beliefs work the exact same way, right? There's essentially 3 core truths that form the foundation of breaking your own limiting beliefs. First, it's understanding that your paradigm shapes the way you see the world. Okay? It's not shaped by events, but it's shaped by the meaning that you've assigned to those events. So if you shift your paradigm, you shift the possibility. Meaning if your paradigm of the world is you have to struggle and work hard just to make, barely get by and make a living. That's what you're going to see. That's what your brain's going to show you. That's what your reticular activating system is going to make apparent for you. The paradigm or the reality where you have to scrape by and just make enough money. Or the world where you're not able to speak your truth because when you were a child, your parents told you you need to behave and stay in line and you don't feel comfortable expressing yourself. That's the paradigm you have of the world, of how things are. But what if you believe, what if the things that you believe just aren't the way you believe them to be. That's the biggest thing is questioning your paradigms. That's how you crack the glass ceiling. But your paradigm shapes your world. The second thing is you are not your thoughts. One, one of the most common things I talk about is that you are the awareness that observes your thoughts, which allows you to, to create separation between a thought or an emotion or an event and your reaction to that. So when you have these limiting beliefs, It starts by being able to identify those beliefs and separate from them. Say, hey, this is not who I am anymore, and let it go. Same thing with your emotions. You have an angry or frustrated or lacking emotion, you identify it and you let it go. You have to understand that you are not your thoughts or emotions. You're the awareness observing it. And the more you can practice using that awareness muscle, the more you're able to detach from the old identity and select thoughts and emotions that are in alignment with your new identity. The third thing about beliefs is understanding that everything is energy, understanding quantum physics, because from a quantum perspective, attention or awareness is actually what collapses energy in the field into reality. So what you repeatedly observe, you bring into form. This is what the observer effect in quantum physics shows us. It shows us that as awareness is placed onto a potential reality, something in your imagination, the longer you hold your awareness on that, It literally collapses into form. The observer effect showed that when awareness was put on these particles, or these, these subatomic particles, or atoms, that existed as energy, as soon as awareness was put on them, they collapsed into matter. That's what the experiment was. So, if everything in the world is energy, our thoughts, our emotions, the material things we see, and everything is energy, whatever we put our awareness on becomes real. So when you understand that your paradigm shapes your world, and you can shift your paradigm, to one that's beneficial, one where opportunity comes to you naturally. You're always lucky, you're positive, you love life. That's your paradigm. It gets to be easy. You understand you are not your thoughts or emotions, and you're able to select ones that benefit your new identity. And you understand that because everything is energy, what you put your awareness on actually matters and actually physically creates your reality. You understand the purpose of all three of those things. You can begin to break your limiting beliefs. 2 is upgrade your operating system. So once your beliefs shift, okay, it all starts with the belief. You need to upgrade what I call your life loop. So thoughts create emotions, which dictate behaviors, which dictate actions, which dictate results, which reinforce your own belief. So once you have that new belief, you're going to start having new thoughts. It's like tuning into a new radio station, right? New thoughts are going to have new emotions. New behaviors, new actions, and new results. So when you start by breaking those limiting beliefs, everything else shifts. And the key with upgrading your operating system is to really raise your frequency, raise your state of being, or raise your energy, because different emotional states that you tune into, I like to call, are different radio stations. So low frequency, like fear, doubt, worry, stress, right? Those are gonna give you a certain set of thoughts, which are gonna lead to a certain set of emotions, certain set of behaviors. Certain set of actions, certain set of results. When you're thinking fearful thoughts, right, it leads, you know, your emotions are fearful and worry, and that leads to certain behaviors that aren't really in alignment with where you're trying to go. Probably you're going to be more timid, you're going to be more reserved, you're going to be more closed off, your actions are going to be poor, they're not going to be well executed, and you're going to get bad results. But when you raise your frequency, your energy, like literally how you feel, your state of being, your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, actions. When you raise that, that energy, all those things change because your thoughts change and everything else is a chain reaction. So when you're in a state of like peace and love and those frequencies are higher frequency states of being, you can look that up, like look up a frequency chart, say, hey, like show me all the different hertz of the different frequencies from fear to love. And it'll show you how love and peace and joy and excitement are all at the top and they're higher vibrations. When you're tapped into that field of information, because energy is information in the quantum field. So if you're vibrating at a certain energy, you're getting different information, right? Different thoughts. And that triggers your whole life loop. So upgrading your operating system's really about reprogramming your life loop, which is all those things. Secondarily, it's also regulating your nervous system. Nervous system regulation is one of the most important things to understand because our nervous system is the bridge between basically energy in the spiritual world and the physical world. So as you raise your vibration, to higher states of frequency and your body's not used to that, it almost like trips the circuit breaker. It's too much energy and you go into fight or flight because your ego is like, oh, this is unsafe. This is unfamiliar. I need to go back to what's familiar. And as Joe Dispenza talks about, your body's actually chemically addicted to your old states of being. Fear, doubt, worry. When you think a certain thought, you're sick, you're sending chemicals to your body, right? Neurotransmitters in your brain are activated, which send neuropeptides to hormonal centers on your body. And you're literally conditioning your body to want a certain chemical. So if you always think fear, doubt, worry, guilt, that's what your body wants. So when you try to say, hey, I'm gonna be positive, your body chemically wants to, like an addict, wants to revert back to those old emotions. So you have to reprogram yourself over time. It's a conscious effort to every single day think new thoughts, new emotions, new behaviors, and select those things over time. So it, it takes time, right? It's like every time you choose a thought and emotion and behavior and action that's a in alignment with your 2.0 identity, it's like a drop in the bucket, but you gotta fill the bucket up with those. So the whole process is about falling off the horse and getting back on. That's the entire thing. But regulating your nervous system, using the breath when you do catch yourself in that fight or flight state, using your breath, whether it's box breathing or just slowing your breath down to bring you back into that parasympathetic state, that rest and digest, and get you outta the fight or flight system. 3, imagine your future. This is the visualization pillar, right? The mechanism that conditions your mind and body into your future identity. So you break limiting beliefs, you upgrade your operating system to hold higher level energy. You have all this power. Now you gotta direct it. Where do you want to go? Visualization, visualization is extremely powerful. All the studies show that when you visualize something vividly in your mind and your body's relaxed and you're imagining it, your brain can't tell the difference between that reality and a, the, the reality you're currently in. So if you're trying to reprogram your body to a new, to new thoughts and emotions that are abundant, that are loving, that are peaceful, that are joyful, think about the analogy I talked about. Every time you select a new thought, emotion, behavior, or action, you're, you're putting a drop in the bucket. Well, it's gonna take time. So you need to put 100 drops in the bucket. You know, you only have so many times throughout the day you do that, but you can get extra reps in through visualization. You can visualize yourself having those emotions. Those count as drops in the bucket, even though they're not happening in the physical world. Because the brain can't tell the difference between a vividly imagined reality and actual reality. There was a basketball experiment where people did free throws. 3 groups did free throws. One did free throws in real life, one did 'em in their mind, and one did not do free throws at all. The first 2 groups improved about both about 22%. I think it was 22 and 23% for the physical free throws and the imaginary free throws. So that just goes to show the power of the mind. But everyone, this visualization is not new stuff. I mean, Olympic athletes are doing it, professional athletes, speakers, musicians, performers. Everyone's visualizing before they go onto the stage, before they perform, before they do their thing, because it gives you some training, um, in your mind. And again, Hebb's law in neuroscience is neurons that fire together wire together. So as you do this repetition in your, in your mind, in the visualization, Every time you're putting a drop in the bucket, you're rewiring your brain to think differently. You're reprogramming your subconscious mind to, to think these new thoughts and emotions on autopilot so you don't have to keep doing it consciously, right? Just subconsciously, these abundant great thoughts will come up because that's how you're wired. So when new neurons fire together, they begin to wire together. Neurocircuitry changes, synaptic connections change, and you literally rewire your brain to a new, to a new state of being. Absolutely incredible. So visualization is huge. It helps you visualize who do you want to be. Sit down, imagine it. Imagination is incredible. Let go of the past. So as you rise up, you've broken your limiting beliefs, you've upgraded that operating system, you've regulated your nervous system, you can hold higher energy. You've imagined who you want to be. You can see it, you can feel it, you can smell it. You can taste it. But now as you go out into your old day, who's trying to drag you back? Your old self, that 1.0 identity, like cinder blocks on your ankles in the middle of the ocean. That's what it's like. And that old self, it wants to pull you back in. It wants to— the fearful thoughts come in, the guilty thoughts, the shameful thoughts, resentment, control, doubt, unworthiness. But you have to understand, again, you are the awareness. You acknowledge these things, you let them go. And you move on and that's the work. The work is literally just falling off the horse and getting back on, falling off, getting back on. And over time, you're able to stay on the horse longer before falling off. And then eventually you just barely fall off the horse. I mean, I fall off sometimes, but for the most part, you know, things are much, much different. Just an example of this, letting go. I had a realization the other day about how I used to just hang on to this stuff all the time. Like, even after work was over, I'd just be hanging on to these negative thoughts and emotions, and my whole evening would be ruined because I'd be in my head all evening about thinking about these negative thoughts, which led to a negative emotion, which is negative state of being, negative behaviors. I didn't want to go outside and do anything. I just want to sit here and wallow. And like, it affects your whole life. You got to let it go. You acknowledge a thought and then you let it go because your natural state is peace. So you gotta let go of the past. The only reason that you are suffering is because you are holding onto thoughts and emotions, negative thoughts and emotions, limiting beliefs, whatever the thought is. By you keeping your awareness on it, you make it real. Stop. Just, just let it go. It's not helping you do anything. The ego wants you to think that by worrying about it, it's somehow helping you figure it out. It's not. It's, it's just ruining your life. Letting go, that's an absolutely massive one. And then 5, transcend into your 2.0 identity. So you've broken the limiting beliefs, you've raised your energy, you've improved your life loop, you've regulated your nervous system, you can visualize the future self that you want to be. You let go of the old self as it tries to come up and drag you down under the current of the river, right? There comes a moment, sometimes subtle, sometimes bigger than that, where you feel the, the transcension. You feel like, oh my gosh, I'm actually way different. And this was that realization I had the other day where I was sitting here. I was like, wow, life is actually great when you just kind of live in peace. And yeah, these negative thoughts and emotions come up, but I just let 'em go. And hey, guess what? My life is still here. I didn't die. I didn't lose everything. It's okay to live in a peaceful state, actually. And to be honest, things go better. Better, you know, I'm in more of a creative state. I can think better. I can act better. I can solve problems better. I can respond to things more efficiently. That's the beauty of this. So when you're doing all 5 of these things, it's an everyday thing. It's a weekly thing. It's a monthly thing. And you're constantly spiraling up to your 2.0 identity until the day that you cease to exist here. That's the work. It's all about the journey, but you're constantly breaking the limiting beliefs, upgrading your operating system, imagining who you want to become, letting go of the old self and transcending. You just keep doing that, keep doing that, keep doing that. And that's the journey. That is the journey. So I want you to reflect on where in your life are you still letting old beliefs, old energy, old identity patterns run your reality when you know that there's a, a higher version of you waiting. So choose one of the five today. B-U-I-L or T, break a belief maybe that you wanna break. Maybe there's something in your energy you wanna upgrade, something you wanna imagine. Letting go of something heavy or transcending. Maybe, maybe you've done a lot of that and it's just time to, to transcend into something else. Which part of the BUILD Framework do I most need to lean into this week? That's my question for you. And what would it look like to practice it daily? That's the prompt. So this is the BUILD Framework. This is the inner system or the 5-step system for reprogramming your inner world and becoming the 2.0 version of yourself. This is how you build a life of impact from the inside out. If this episode helped you understand the BUILD philosophy on a deeper level, share it with someone who's on their own growth journey and make sure you're subscribed because next week we'll go deeper into how all these apply to your daily life. Until then, all the peace, all the power.
