BUILT for Impact Ep. 13: Quantum Leap Explained: How to Embody Your Future Self w/o Self-Sabotage

Jake Burhans explains quantum leaps as immediate identity shifts, not gradual changes. You decide to become a new version of yourself, rewire your neural state, and visualize your future self until external reality catches up. The gap between your new identity and old circumstances creates discomfort, but consistent action and unwavering faith close it.

What if the biggest breakthrough of your life doesn't require years of effort, but a single decision? Not a slow grind, not a long transformational arc, not a someday goal. A moment where you choose a different version of yourself and everything shifts from that point forward. People throw around the term quantum leap like it's mystical or reserved for the lucky, but it really isn't. It's not magic, it's not luck, it's not wishful thinking. It's mechanics. Identity, neuroscience, behavior, cause and effect, all pointing to one reality. You don't gradually become your future self over time. You choose the identity now, and your actions, habits, and results begin to reorganize around that decision. Welcome back to Built for Impact. I'm Jake Burhans, and this is the podcast where inner peace meets high performance and where building your dream life starts from the inside out. Inside the BUILD Framework, as always, breaking limiting beliefs, upgrading your operating system, imagining your future, letting go of the past, and transcending into you 2.0. Today's episode sits right at the core of identity creation. And reality design. Um, we're gonna unpack something I think people misunderstand, or maybe you've never even heard about it. Quantum leap. What the heck is that? We're gonna talk about the mechanics of that, how that works, how it's related to identity, and really, like I said, the, the mechanics of it. And I think once you understand it, you'll never chase change the same way again. You never will. So what is a quantum leap first, scientifically speaking? It's when an electron in an atom jumps from one energy level to another energy level without moving through time and space. So it's literally vibrating at one level and then it just disappears and boom, instantly appears at the next level. You could think about this like a tuning fork. So a tuning fork is like a little fork that you hit and it plays a certain note. Imagine you played a tuning, you hit a tuning fork at a certain note in Los Angeles, and at the same exact time, The tuning fork in New York begins to play the same note, another tuning fork made of the same metal. So it's not like that the vibration from that sound had to travel across all the states from California all the way to New York before the New York tuning fork started playing that resonance. No, it immediately did it, right? It was a quantum leap. It moves beyond space and time. Space and time is just a construct of our 3D world, right? We have to move through space and time to get from here to there. It's this point of consciousness to that point of consciousness. But beneath that is the quantum field and everything moves energetically. So a quantum leap isn't really about becoming, it's like choosing it in this moment. So when you make a quantum leap, you're, you're shifting your identity. You're saying, I am this person now. Most people are waiting first for external proof before they believe they could change. True identity doesn't come from evidence. It's gonna come from your decision. You decide to be something first before it shows up in your external world. So someone who wants to become a runner, the moment that you decide it internally, you are a runner, not after the mile is run. So you want to be a speaker, you decide that in your head, I am a speaker, right? And then when speaking opportunities come to you, you naturally step into those opportunities., but you don't speak an event and then decide that you're a speaker if you really wanna be successful. I mean, it may, it may work out like that, but if you really wanna create something big, it's an identity shift. So you're literally shifting your state of energy. It's choosing. How do you do that? Well, you have to first break your limiting beliefs and believe that you can actually do it. Then you have to upgrade your operating system, raise your energy to the level of that identity. You do that through visualization. So you can sit down and you can visualize, what is it— what does it feel like to be a world-class speaker or a musician or a creator on social media? How am I going to feel? How am I going to show up when I make content? Like, my level of confidence, my level of authenticity, my humor— what is that energy? What is that frequency? Because when you tap into that frequency in your meditations In your visualization sessions, you tap into a radio station. Tapping into a frequency is like tapping into a radio station, and on that radio station, a certain set of thoughts are gonna come, which lead to a certain set of emotions, which lead to behaviors, which leads to actions, right? And which leads to results. So you tap into the feeling of the end state, as Neville Goddard would say. You just gotta tap into that feeling. And if you're in frequency is information, Energy is information. So when you're in that energy, you get new information. Like I said, new thoughts, emotions, behaviors, actions, new results. So when you change your energy, because we are made up of atoms and particles as human beings, we're made up of energy. If a single little atom, electron in an atom does this, if we're made up of all those electrons and atoms, then we do this as a whole unit. When we decide to go from this lower, denser scarcity energy to this elevated Higher energy. We, we quantum leap in the field. So that's how it happens. The second you, you shift your identity and you get into a new frequency, and if you wanna think about frequency or energy as literally a state of being, I think that's easier to understand. People say, oh, you know, you gotta raise your frequency. I don't think anyone knows what that means. It's, it's your state of being. It's your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and actions, right? Or thought. Yeah. Thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and actions. So when you do that, you are the new person. Now, the thing that hap— the thing a lot of people get discouraged by is the external world is always gonna lag the internal shift. Like you talk about imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome's normal. Like you want to, uh, okay, you're gonna become the director of your company. In your mind, you have to believe that you're capable of becoming a director first before you can be the director. Cuz how are you gonna act in accordance to make the right decisions that actually put you in the position to be a director? You have to believe it first in your mind. So naturally the world's gonna lag. You're gonna, in your mind, you're gonna be that person. You're gonna think like him, act like him, behave like him. And over time, by doing that, the external world begins to reflect you as that sort of person. So the second that you step into this new identity, you collapse the old timeline when you, when you claim this new one. So choosing a new identity shuts down the neural pathways that kept the old one alive. So you have a certain set of neural pathways and synaptic connections in your brain based on the identity you believe yourself to be, right? So, and this is biology and physics. The second you choose a new identity, who you want to become, and you start thinking new thoughts, Hebb's law tells us that neurons that fire together wire together. So the more that you think new thoughts, right, and new emotions, new behaviors and new actions in alignment with this new identity, it's like drops in the bucket, drops in the bucket of the new identity. And over time you rewire your brain and body to a new identity, right? So it's not instantly perfect, right? If you, if you say, you know, maybe you're an anxious person all the time, say, hey, I'm gonna be confident, I'm gonna be confident, I'm gonna be confident. You're going to get off track, but you gotta get back on track. And it's not instantly perfect., but it's instantly different. And that's the work, right? That new identity. And over time, you're gonna start to see synchronicities in your world reflect this new version of yourself. You believe yourself to be the director of your company and you start thinking and acting and behaving like this person and doing all the things. People are gonna start to respond to you differently and you're gonna notice that. You will notice that they respond to you differently. You might have these like weird random conversations that kind of put you on the path towards potentially being a director. That have never happened before and leave you with no doubt that what you're doing, your visualization, your identity work, the inner work, is actually working. Happens all the time. It happens all the time to me. So understanding that the external world lags behind the internal shift is really, really important because the internal identity shifts instantly, but the external takes time to reorganize. And that makes sense because you can shift your identity instantly, at the snap of fingers, you could be a new person if you believe it. But it takes time for the external world to catch up and for the universe to put things into place for you to get there. So that's when you have to have faith, right? You have to have faith that it's going to happen, right? The physical world moves slower than consciousness. So if you have a new, a new fitness identity, I'm, I go to the gym, right? I'm into fitness. Okay, that can be your identity. That's awesome. But you don't get to get a new physique overnight. Right? Same thing. You could have a leadership identity. I am a leader now. Awesome. You are a leader, but now you gotta think, behave, and act like a leader, right? You gotta do the things. And then eventually over time, because you've taken so much action and in alignment with that new identity, there's no choice but for the world to perceive you as this new version of yourself. We get it totally backwards. Like we want to be a business owner. We wanna be a speaker, we wanna be whatever we wanna be. We wanna be a social media influencer. We wanna wait for the external world to show us first so that we can then have the identity. It doesn't even make any sense. It's completely backwards. Obviously you have to have the identity in your mind first before the external world reflects it. You have to have the identity and then you have to behave like that person when nothing in your external world shows you otherwise. It's honestly like delusion. It's pretty delusional, but that's how you have to be, because in your mind it's not delusional and you're not faking it. You're faithing it. You are faithing it. You're having faith, belief in the unseen that it is possible. Now, at the quantum level, what's happening? You have quantum leaped into a new energetic field. Now, why is it important, the, the quantum side of this? Because if everything is energy in this universe, quantum entanglement in quantum physics tells us that particles and energy is connected beyond time and space, meaning that if you're tapping into a new energy, the energy of this new identity, other energy on that level is going to be drawn to you. What does that mean? Well, phone calls that put you on the path to becoming the director of your company, or certain introductions or certain conversations Those are all energy cuz everything's energy in the work universe. So in order to attract those experiences to you, those phone calls, those opportunities, those events, those circumstances, those people, those things, they're all energy. Things are just energy. So to attract them to yourself, you have to get on the energy, the same energy plane as those things, which is why you visualize, tap into what it would feel like to be there, and you stay in that frequency and those things come to you. That's what a synchronicity is, and it works through what they call quantum entanglement. But you have to have the faith because most people fail, right? They, oh, I'm going to be a— I think social media is the best case. I'm going through this right now because I'm posting all the time. I get no likes, but I know that my message is important and I love preaching the message. I just got to wait for the external world to catch up. That's it. Got to keep doing the thing. In my mind, I already am what I want to be, and I just keep doing that until I give the world no option but to reflect it back to me as me being this person. As me being a personal development coach or whatever, whatever it is that I wanna be, a leader, an entrepreneur. But most people are failing because they break during that lag. They choose the new identity, but the world hasn't changed yet, so they panic, right? And they, and they collapse into the old version of themselves. 'Cause I believe, oh, it must not be true. Didn't have any faith. Didn't have any faith. No one likes my content. My results look the same. Hey, listen, just keep going. Because you are that person. If you believe in yourself and never quit, you'll get there. But that doubt snaps you back into the old identity and just rebuilds the old timeline. And what does it mean to step into a new timeline? That's another thing. When you step into a new timeline, it means that life is an unfolding of events. So right now you're on a certain timeline. Your base level of frequency leads to a certain set of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and actions. You're on a certain timeline producing certain results. And life basically exists, exists on infinite parallel timelines, meaning depending on your state of being, your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and actions, your frequency, you're gonna get a new timeline. So if I raise my frequency to the timeline of being the director of my company, that's gonna lead to a whole new chain of events. New, like I said, new thoughts, emotions, actions, but new people are gonna talk to you. You're gonna have different conversations. You're gonna have different opportunities, different circumstances. Different responses to those, those circumstances. So by shifting your identity and your energy, you instantly shift into a new timeline, a new unfolding of life. But that faith is just so important. You have to believe that it's, that it's working. And I think the synchronicities help when you see things that put you on the path, you believe, but it's, it's, um, it's a test. It's a true test to have that faith. But if you hold long enough, reality bends, it bends with those synchronicities. When identity, behavior, and emotions stay consistent, the world eventually aligns, right? Those opportunities appear, momentum builds, results accelerate. What looks like a jump, right, is just the physical world catching up to your chosen identity. So basically you have this ra— elevated identity. You gotta let the external world work to meet you up there. It's like the identity gap that Joe Dispenza talks about. So that's why I say your future is created by alignment, not force. Meaning you're not out there just forcing and pushing it. You're aligning with that energy and you're letting it come to you. And the last thing is there's no need to rush. You're already there, right? You can't rush the events of the universe. You can only control your action. So once you're in this new identity, just be consistent. Take the action every single day to do that. Work when inspired, rest when tired. That's what I say. Work when inspired, rest when tired. But you are not gonna rush to get there. You're already there. The second you're like rushing around and, and pushing and pushing and forcing and forcing to get there, that's an energy of lack. That's signaling on the, at the energetic level to the universe that you do not have it. You do not have it because you're forcing and you're struggling to get there. Because if you already have it, you'd be at peace, you'd be relaxed, you'd just be acting like that person already. You just gotta forget about the external results. Show up like you are that person. You show up like you're that person and know you're that person. That's it. So bringing this together, a quantum leap isn't a miracle, right? It's really alignment with that new energy. The internal shift is immediate. The external shift is delayed. Your only job is to hold the identity until reality recalibrates. So where in your life are you collapsing back into this old identity because the world hasn't caught up yet? That's what I want you to ask yourself. And what identity could you choose today that would collapse your current timeline instantly? That's the work. This is built. This is the operating system. This is the bridge between inner peace and high performance. If this resonated with you, please share it with someone who's ready to choose that new identity and jump timelines with you. Um, subscribe so you don't miss next week's episode. Until then, all the peace, all the power.
