Dehypnotize Yourself From False Beliefs

Jake Burhans explains how limiting beliefs programmed in childhood keep us stuck, and how to rewire them through visualization and affirmations. Neurons that fire together wire together, so new thoughts create new neural pathways. Shift into relaxed alpha and theta states through breathing and meditation to reprogram your subconscious mind.

What is going on, folks? Welcome to Chapter 4 of Buy Back Your Time. We are going to be talking about dehypnotizing yourself from false beliefs. I have a new camera setup here so you can see me a little bit more clearly on the introduction as well as once we're into the presentation. Presentation will be a little bit smaller, but I will be bigger since I tend to just yap a lot the whole time anyways. So you want to see me yapping. If you have not subscribed to the YouTube channel, do that. I'm coming out with a full course on psycho-cybernetics. If you haven't watched the previous videos, definitely gonna want to do that because this may— might be a little bit confusing for you. So go back, watch the intro. It's in a playlist called Psycho-Cybernetics Intro, Chapter 1, 2, 3. We are now on 4, okay, of 14 chapters. So it's all about reprogramming your mind, your self-image, something that I've been doing over the past few years as we've scaled our businesses up and as we continue to build new businesses. So not only in entrepreneurship but in your personal life, very important, uh, concept here of self-image, the psychology of self-image. So we are gonna get right into it here. So we are on, again, chapter 4 is where we are at right now. Dehypnotize yourself from false beliefs. You believed your way into limitation, you can believe your way out. This is so important, the power of belief. I've talked about this in previous videos, but Hebb's Law: neurons that fire together wire together. Super important to understand. As you think new thoughts, you literally reprogram your mind to form new neural pathways, new synaptic connections, and you rewire your brain to a new state of being. So we're all hypnotized by our previous beliefs. And where did a lot of our beliefs come from? Again, you talk about the subconscious mind, okay? From ages 0 to 7, we are in a brainwave state called theta. Our analytical mind has not formed yet. Our analytical mind forms around the ages of 12 to 13, and that's where we can really determine and decipher information. Like, information comes in and we decide, hey, do we agree with that? Do we not agree with that? Is that something we want to believe in, or do we not want to believe in it? 0 to 7, we are like a computer program. And our, our, our environment, you know, our parents, the people around, everything that's coming in is just being downloaded as a belief. This is where people get these limiting beliefs of, I can't be wealthy because that's greedy, or it's gonna be hard, not to struggle for success, or I'm not good enough, or whatever the case may be. All these programs are from 0 to 7, and we don't even know them as adults. It's one of the biggest uphill battles we fight. We fight to feel like that we're enough, or that we can be successful in a certain field, or that, that it's okay to follow our passions and our dreams because our, you know, our parents told us we have to go get a job and do a normal thing, and that you want to be an actor, that's crazy. Those beliefs that were installed in you from 0 to 7 are still in your adulthood right now. So a big part of it is going back to childhood and understanding what were your limiting beliefs. Part of mine was, you know, the need to be accepted. You know, I think that I wasn't as accepted as I would have liked growing up, elementary school, middle school, things like that, and even into high school a little bit. So a lot of what I did in entrepreneurship was to go get acceptance. Oh, I'm gonna have this business, people are gonna look at me differently, I'll be accepted. So that was kind of a limiting belief that I had for myself, right? But we have these beliefs that are programmed into us. We're like, we're hypnotized by them, right? Again, many of them, many of them are— of the limitations were accepted unconsciously, unconsciously. Without effort or logic. Oh, hold on. But we can rewrite them. That's, that's the, the biggest point here is that we can, we can rewrite these beliefs by thinking new thoughts. That's the beautiful thing about Hebb's law: neurons that fire together wire together. So if you can think new thoughts and think into a new state of being, you can literally rewire your mindset to a new state of being. So the body is like the subconscious mind. This is what Joe Dispensa talks about. So what happens when you think a thought? A neurotransmitter is signaled in the brain, which releases a chemical signature called a neuropeptide, which travels down to the hormonal sites on your body and produces a certain emotional frequency or emotional state. So when you're thinking fear, anxiety, worry all the time for weeks on end, months on end, years on end, what are you doing? You're releasing that chemical signature right, into your body, and you're programming your body to feel that feeling. And then one day you wake up and you are just fearful, anxious, and worried, right? And you don't even know why. It's because your body, over the course of months and years, has been conditioned to just emit that emotional frequency. And then the body becomes the mind because you wake up feeling those things, and it's a self-perpetuating downward loop of you you feeling these things and then you're thinking those thoughts. You feel anxious, so then it leads to anxious thoughts, more anxious neurotransmitter signaled, more anxious neuropeptides to the hormonal centers. Hormonal centers adapt to that chemical signature over time. That's the other thing. Those hormonal sites on your body, like if you're feeling guilt all the time, they will adapt and grow bigger. Just like a person who drinks coffee and you get that little caffeine buzz and then 3 months later you gotta drink 3 cups of coffee to get the same caffeine buzz. It's the same thing with your body. You keep sending it that guilt hormone, it needs more and more and more of that. So that's how we— our bodies— that's why it's so hard to break the habit of being ourselves, as Dr. Joe Dispenza would say, because we're chemically conditioned to feel these emotions. So when we try to think a new thought, your body pulls you back into those old emotional patterns. But that's the process of reprogramming your mind. Okay, or reprogramming your body to a new, new state. You have to continually think these thoughts through repetition, and you reprogram the body because every time you're sending that chemical signature of love or peace or gratitude, you're fighting that existing emotional frequency of whatever it is. So you got to— it's like droplets. You got to fill the bucket. The bucket's all muddy. You got to put enough water in the bucket to let that clean water rise and let the dirty water fall out of the bucket. But you got to keep going every day with that, with the new thoughts. So that's how you're basically reprogramming yourself with new beliefs and new, new emotions. Yeah, so, and the other thing with beliefs too, I think just to note, is like aside from the emotional frequency kind of side of it, is we can choose to believe whatever we want, right? If you want to believe today is gonna be hard, guess what? It's going to be hard. As Henry Ford said, if you think you can or you think you can't, you are right. So if you want to wake up and fight for your limitations and fight for the day being hard, and entrepreneurship is going to be a struggle, and it's going to be hard, and I got to struggle for 5 years to get to where I want to go, great, that's going to be your reality. You win, congratulations. Or do you want to think that, hey, yeah, it's going to take some time to accomplish things, but are you going to enjoy the process? Is it going to be fun? Is it gonna be easy? Is it gonna be light, right? I think part of choosing the beliefs you want also has to do with your reticular activating system. Just like when you go buy a new car, you hadn't seen that car anywhere on the road, now you see it everywhere. It's because your brain, your brain works like that. Whatever you focus on, it shows you more of. So if you focus on doubt and negativity and how things are gonna be hard, your brain's gonna give you every reason to back that belief up. And you're like, yep, I knew it was gonna be hard. Because you said it was gonna be hard. You told yourself it's gonna be hard, so your brain looked for that. If you say it's gonna be easy and I'm gonna figure it out, XYZ, then your brain's gonna look for opportunities to give you success and to, and to help you push through. So you're creating your reality every single second by what you believe, okay? So understand that you are hypnotized by these old beliefs. A lot of them came from childhood. You have the power to choose. Hebb's law: neurons that fire together wire together. So start thinking new thoughts every day, reprogram your body to a new emotional frequency, and then also understand that you can choose anything you want. Whatever you focus on, your world's gonna give you more of that. Those are the foundations there. So relaxation is the gateway to change. The key is that you were programmed in a relaxed state, so now you must deprogram the same way. So Bob Proctor talks about this in his Born Rich series. At the end, he has a meditation Neville Goddard talks about it. Obviously, Psycho-Cybernetics talks about it. But you need to be— your subconscious mind, which is the, the mind below, like, your conscious mind, like right now you're conscious, it, it runs 95% of your life. It's your habits, your programs, what you believe about the world. When you're not consciously thinking, this is what's acting. So what we need to do is get into a relaxed state and The science behind this is that there's basically 4 brainwave states. You have beta, okay, which is us thinking, analytical. You have alpha brainwave states, which is like you're kind of daydreaming, you're kind of dozing off. Maybe you're driving, like dozing off, and you're like, wow, how did I even— I just passed like 3 exits, I wasn't even paying attention to driving. Kind of a scary thing, but that's you in alpha, or you're kind of like just, you know, daydreaming. Theta is a deep meditative state, but that is when your mind consciousness is awake but your body is completely asleep. So this is like deep meditators can get to that, and then delta is like deep, deep brainwave sleep. So in order to reprogram the subconscious mind, though, you got to get out of beta, you got to get out of this high analytical state, and you have to at least dip into the alpha state. Theta is really where it happens, but you need to be relaxed in this alpha state because when your conscious mind is kicked up and freaking going 100 miles an hour, you try to think of these new beliefs and your conscious mind is like, no, that could never happen, that, that's ridiculous, you've never done that before in your life. But when you quiet that monkey mind, as they call it in Buddhism, right? You got to quiet the monkey mind. You got to sit down, relax your body. And that's, that's like the visualization technique I've talked about before. Imagine there's concrete all over your body. You just sit there, take a few deep breaths. Or slower than that, you know, box breathe. 4 seconds in, 4 seconds hold, 4 seconds out, 4 seconds hold. The box breath is really good. Do that for 3 to 4 minutes and you'll literally feel your brain just like kick down a gear. And that's it kicking down from beta into alpha. And when there's less resistance from your conscious mind, you can reprogram the subconscious mind much better, right? Because, you know, like, your subconscious mind's like— when you stop thinking about wanting to be positive and you're going through your day and you get these negative thoughts and stuff, that's your subconscious programming. It's coming in below the conscious mind because you're not focusing on trying to be positive anymore. And what comes— what, what, what comes up to the surface, what your programming is, that's how you know what your programming is. So why don't we need to reprogram ourselves to think positively and abundantly and be hopeful and do all these things? So that's the goal of reprogramming in the relaxed state. So like I said, when you're relaxed, your critical mind softens and your subconscious is more open to the new input. So you can go do like a guided meditation on YouTube. There's tons of them. I'm gonna come out with some, but like Joe Dispenza has them, Neville Goddard, Bob Proctor, they all have these things. That's when true reprogramming can happen, is when you're relaxed. I want to be in a suggestible state. Install new beliefs through repetition. So Napoleon Hill talks about this in Think and Grow Rich, but it's the power of autosuggestion. And a lot of other people talk about— you can look into this concept, but again, the brain rewires itself through repetition. I'm gonna say this until it's drilled into your brain, but neurons that fire together wire together. So every time that you think a new thought, okay, you are rewiring your brain. So it's gonna take a little bit of time. You got to every single day have the conscious choice to wake up and think these new thoughts and be this new person. Every time you slip back into this old self, right, this old state of being, you're aware of it. Remember, you are not your thoughts, your emotions. You're the one aware of it. You, you, you become aware of it and, and then you say, no, that's not me. Deny, choose, be. There's this one guy, and, um, I forgot his name is, my buddy sent me a video, but deny, choose, be. That's what you need to do. Deny the old self, choose who you want to be, be that person. But it's a conscious effort. And the biggest thing is when you decide you want to be a new person and you flip your identity, there is now a gap. This is what Joe Dispenza calls the gap of becoming. So you are now this new person in the quantum field and in your head, but the external reality hasn't kicked in yet, right? Maybe your body is still programmed to the old self. So every single day you have to reprogram your body, and eventually the external world, your body, will catch up to where your mind is. But that's the gap of becoming, constantly wanting to drag you back down into those chemical signatures of guilt, fear, worry, doubt, whatever you've been programmed to, to emit, okay? So we have to— every day it's a conscious choice, every single day. If and you're gonna fall off the horse and you gotta get back on the horse and you fall off the horse, you get back on and you're doing this thing. But, and the biggest thing is you cannot judge yourself. I did this so much early off, I did this so much early. I would just judge myself for, oh my God, I can't believe I'm out of the frequency. I can't believe I'm back into my old self. That in and of itself is a negative frequency. You do not want to be in that. You gotta forgive yourself, let it go. You went back, look, and this is like a key little, shift in your mindset. Instead of looking at as a negative, like, oh my gosh, I'm back into the old state of being, be like, this is amazing, I'm aware that I'm in the old state of being, let me choose the new state of being. Great, this is awesome, what a win. It's literally like a bicep curl, all right? It's like a bicep curl every single time you catch yourself going back into the old state of being and you choose to go into a new state of being. Bicep curl, mental bicep curl, think about that. I am statements are huge too, right? I am, I am confident. I am powerful. You're literally reprogramming. And again, if you feel like this is fake, a lot of times you're gonna feel like it's fake. Oh, this is stupid. I'm confident. I'm powerful. I'm wealthy. Yeah, I'm freaking living paycheck to paycheck. You say it enough though. I'm telling you, you say it enough, in a few months, 3 months, you start to go by you, like, and you start to think like, oh, maybe I, maybe I could be wealthy actually. Maybe I am confident. Another couple months go by and you're like, and then you're just like a new person. Like, I am confident. Like, I'm getting this money. I'm getting this bag regardless. I know I am. That's the thing. I talk about method actors all the time. Is, you know, they play a role in their personal life to try to get into the role of the Grinch or something, right? And then they forget that, hey man, you're not actually the Grinch, you're Jake Burhans. So we do the same thing with our thoughts though. I am statements are super powerful. You do this consistently, you will reprogram your subconscious. The last thing here is you are on your own journey. Oh my gosh, this is like, this is literally such an important concept. Comparison— I should have put this in there as a quote— comparison is the thief of joy, okay? It is the ultimate thief of joy. And I catch myself all the time sometimes like comparing real quick, and I, but I can nip it right in the bud right away. I'm like, nope, I'm on my own journey. I'm on my own path. I'm doing my own thing. It's going to come to me exactly when it's meant to come to me in divine timing. It's going to be absolutely perfect, and I'm loving the journey. Don't be looking at other people on social media. Don't be looking at other people's businesses. Don't be looking at other people's bodies. Don't be looking at other people's relationships. Focus on you, okay? Everyone starts at a different point with a different skill set, with different resources, with different circumstances. You, you absolutely cannot compare. It's all about getting better than you're— than you were yesterday. That's literally all that it's about. Get better than you were yesterday. Be happy that you got 1% better. Like, every little incremental gain is perfect because you're going to get what's coming for you. What's coming for you can't miss you if it's meant for you. So just relax, do the work every day, fall in love with the work, and the goal is to become the highest expression of yourself. So again, recap: false beliefs were formed effortlessly, so So you don't need to force— false beliefs were formed effortlessly. Sorry, car horn went off there. I'm not gonna edit that out. Focus. See, this is what I got to work on too, right? Like, you know, I want to be speaking in public, things happen, gotta refocus, you got to play it off, act like it's not a big deal. Key themes: false beliefs were formed effortlessly. So you don't need force to change them. Yeah, so your false beliefs, again, you got to get into that relaxed state so you can kick down your brainwaves and reprogram the subconscious mind so the conscious mind doesn't get in the way. Get into that relaxed state, breathe, think about your body as concrete, whatever you need to do, visualize it. Hebb's Law: neurons that fire together wire together. And then don't compare, calibrate to the version of you that you want to become. Don't compare, just be you. All right, please be you. I want you to write down some affirmation statements, I am statements of what you are. I would say, you know, I am like— things that I would say is like, I'm a multiple 7-figure business owner, right? I am a global leader in personal development. I am whatever I want to be personally, right? Those are some of my stuff, but you can write down whatever you want to write down. Write those things down, believe that they can be true, and just repeat them every day or review them every week and just remind yourself. Understand that you are the person you want to be the second that you decide it, okay? The second you decide you are that person, you just need to step into it. All the peace, all the power. I will see you next video.
