Jake Burhans argues that limiting beliefs stay alive because you keep defending them. Statements like "that's just how I am" are protective stories that reinforce the ceiling. Stop defending them and cracks appear. Awareness is the key to breaking the spell.

Most limiting beliefs don't survive because they're true. They survive because you're defending them. Anytime you say things like, that's just how I am, this always happens to me, it's always a struggle, you're not describing reality. You're protecting a familiar story. The repetition and justification you're repeatedly doing every single day is just wiring that belief into your system even further. It's like a glass ceiling. But the moment you stop arguing for that belief, cracks begin to form in the glass ceiling that's limiting you. You start to question it, and the foundation of it begins to crumble. Ultimately, awareness breaks the spell. Defense keeps it alive. At the end of the day, as long as you fight for your limiting beliefs, you get to keep them. This is day 8 of my Becoming Built for Impact 90-day challenge. If this made you pause, follow along.
