Jake Burhans argues that we set goals because we're wired to grow, but chasing them creates stress. Instead of racing to each milestone, he says to savor the journey itself. That shift alone reduces the pressure.

Hey, if life's about the journey and you can't enjoy it, then what's the point? It is our natural human tendency to evolve and grow. That is literally the purpose of being here. That's why you set a goal, and the second that you get to the goal, you just set another goal. Why? Because it is a natural human yearning to want to grow and evolve and expand. So if you can understand that, you would stop chasing your goals so hard and stop being so stressed out that you haven't reached your goals yet. You're not meant to get there. And once you get there, it's gonna set another one because inherently deep down you just want to grow and you want to evolve. So stop asking yourself, how fast can I get there? And start asking yourself, how can I enjoy the journey more?
