How to Find Off-Market Deals for Internet Businesses (Under 5 Minutes!)

Someone who's bought or sold over ten internet businesses shares three sources for off-market deals: Feedspot's blogger directory for content sites, OffMarket.so for SaaS businesses, and Store Leads for Shopify brands. Off-market deals typically offer better terms than public marketplaces like Flippa.

So I've sold or bought over 10 little internet-based businesses ranging from like $500 blogs to $30 million holdings companies. And I advise people on buying internet-based businesses as well. And one of the most common questions I ask— get asked is, where do you find off-market deals? Keeping it rough, we don't need to worry about high production quality here. The idea is that in under 5 minutes, I'm going to show you how to find the best off-market deals for internet-based businesses today. Okay, so there's 3 different kinds of businesses overall that we look at and advise on. And obviously you can go look at Flippa or Empire Flippers or Acquire.com, any of those places to find businesses that are on market. But the best deals you're going to find are going to be off market. So the first place I'm going to show you is where we find content sites, i.e., blogs. And that's going to be bloggers.feedspot.com. This is a hidden little gem. We advise on a couple transactions that were found this way, and you're going to get an opportunity to Go and find bloggers who are talking about whatever it is, industry or niche that you want, um, you know, that you're interested in and get the list to reach out to them. You're just reaching out to them and offering them money, asking if they'd be interested in selling their business. Um, we will do another video on how to reach out to people and how to enrich that data and what emails to send them, what LinkedIn messages to send them. But for this video, staying under 5 minutes, the 3 places to find. That's number 1. That's going to be Feedspot. It's a fantastic place to find off-market content businesses for sale. Now let's look at number 2 if we want software businesses. The next place is going to be offmarket.so. Now, candidly, I bought this. I bought this because it fits right into my ecosystem talking about buying deals and selling deals. It's a database SaaS, right? Find your perfect acquisition in minutes, not months. I'm not going to walk you through the whole thing right now, but in general, We've got a nice database of software businesses and we track the growth they have, the reviews they have, the niche they're in. So that you, let's say you want to own a Shopify app that is about conversion rate optimization. You put that into our system and it's going to pull all the Shopify apps. It's going to show you their growing trend lines. And then we get all that information and collect it for you and then pull their contact information for the owners so you can reach out to them. And make them offers to buy their businesses. Once again, you're going to find yourself in much better situations for, um, good deals if you're doing off-market deals. And the third place I'm about to show you is actually another interesting spot. We're going to integrate all that, everything, all the places, we're going to integrate them all into OffMarket.so. But right now we, um, as of Jan '21, it's all, um, software businesses like apps and stuff. Um, but the last place I'm going to show you is for e-com brands. So I'm going to show it to you right now. And the last one right here is going to be Store Leads. This is e-commerce brands. Be tracking, you know, Shopify brands, revenue they do, um, and give you an idea of the contact information for them as well. People often use this actually to reach out to sell services, but you could just be pitching them on buying them yourself. So the three are, um, uh, Feedspot, OffMarket.so, because they're my favorites, um, and then Store Leads. Um, for e-commerce brands. Again, we're going to put these all into the same place. I'll make a different video. Comment below what other kinds of businesses you want to buy and make sure to like and subscribe. I will make sure to put together content on, um, templated outreach messages, um, for buying a business and how to structure that negotiation process. Cause it can be very different at $500 versus $5 million. So anyway, keeping this message short, keeping this video clean, and hopefully you guys found it useful. Cheers.
