Leaving your corporate job for a startup won't give you easier hours. You'll work constantly and intensely. The real payoff is autonomy and building something yours, not hitting a valuation target.
If you're leaving a corporate job to start your own business because you think running your own company is going to be somehow easier and you'll have better work-life balance, I think the truth is it's hard work running a startup and you need to be, you need to really put in the time, the effort, and be always on to make that work. But the reward and the freedom you get by doing your own thing is what it's not about, whether you're becoming the next $10 million business, $100 million business, but running your own company and having that kind of sense of self-satisfaction that you get. I think that's the amazing thing people want to do. But you're right, it doesn't work for accelerators. It doesn't work for VCs.
