So the AP Computer Science program offers two main courses, AP Computer Science and AP Computer Science Principles. Each focuses on different aspects of computer science and programming and here's the overview of what each class typically includes. So the AP Computer AP Computer Science so this course is equivalent to the first semester college level course in computer science focused primarily on object object oriented programming and Java. Topics covered include key concept including object orient, programming, OOP class objects, methods, encapsulation, inheritance and poly polymorphism and Java programming language including syntax variables, control structure like if else, loop and input, output operation, array, array, list and strong and string manipulation and algorithm data structure including searching and sorting algorithm like binary, search, merge, sort, iteration and recursion, basic data structure, program solving and debugging, writing and testing program identify and fix errors AP Exam Focus Free response questions involving writing code multiple choice questions testing around understanding of Java and OOP concepts AP Computer Science Principle this course provides a broader introduction to computer science and computational thinking. It's less focused on programming in a single language, but more about exploring the broader impact of computing in society. The key concept including computational thinking, thinking and problem solving, algorithm and problem solving, strategy abstraction, modeling data and information including how data is represented and manipulated by computer and data analyze and visualization the Internet and cyber security, how the Internet works, protocols and security concepts, privacy and encapsulation, global impact of computation, social, ethical and and cultural impact of technology real world application of computing programming including introduction to programming concept often use language like Python, JavaScript, block based programming and creative object study student created objects to demonstrate the understanding of computing concepts.
