20000125 || Bhagavad-gītā 9.34 (with Russian Translation) || Moscow, Russia #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

A recorded spiritual lecture by Jaya Pataka Swami focused on Bhagavad-gītā verse 9.34 (with a related reference to the 18th chapter). The speaker explains the instruction to be fully absorbed (yuktvaiva) in Krishna consciousness, stresses the practical effectiveness of chanting Hare Krishna, and emphasizes the necessity of association with devotees for sustaining devotional practice. The talk includes multiple international preaching anecdotes (Middle East, a desert city), descriptions of large devotional events (indoor rath yatra), reminiscences about Lord Chaitanya and Radha/Radharani, and a note about Mayapur floods as an exhortation to expand preaching.
Lam Sam Propalanagami scan Guru. It's too small. I brought my glasses by my side. Chakra Harsh Nam. Engage your mind always in thinking of me. Become my devotee. Offer obeisances to me and worship me. Being completely absorbed in me. Surely you will come to me.
Krishna Bhakti at the Pona Krishna Krishna Itakna Formis provision the walk to show the Kakim personality.
The instruction in this verse are very important and have been mentioned twice in the Bhagavad Gita. Here in the ninth chapter as well as in the 18th chapter. In the ninth chapter, this is the most confidential knowledge. And this is given as the last verse in the most confidential knowledge much. And in the 18th chapter it's given as a prelude to the most important verse of the Bhagavad Gita of surrendering to Ka. Almost the same. But it says, I promise you, you will come to. In this verse it says to be Yukt Vaiva completely absorbed in Ka consciousness. Ka consciousness is a spiritual science. If anyone practices it properly, then they get the results. It's not exactly a mechanical process, but it's a process and it definitely produces observable results. So you want to see. Normally, it's hard to take to Ka consciousness. Great personalities have taken in the past. However, Lord Chaitanya has made it very easy to take shelter of him even in his difficult age of color. In fact, he made it so easy by chanting the holy names of Krishna that many great Acharyas they come to the conclusion that this Kali Yuga must be the greatest of all the ages. Because Krishna has become so easily accessible. This is his spreading special mercy in this age. So the secret of Ka consciousness is here. How we need to absorb our consciousness in Ka service. We know for temple devotees they're given a full program from morning to night so that they can absorb their consciousness in Ka. We know that also one can practice Ka consciousness from the home. But the secret of success is also to absorb your consciousness in Ka. But instead of having a whole regimented text ashram facility to do that, the devotees on their own to organize it. Sometimes the Lord is they find difficulty to organize their life in such a way. Some disciple recently who was staying very in a devotee's community. But then he went to some other place. He came to see me in great anxiety. When I came out of the close association of devotees. I found it very difficult to practice my Ka consciousness. And I started to fall into Maya. So therefore, throughout all the teachings of Lord Chaitanya and his Acharyas, they always say association with devotees is most important. That's how we organize bhakti, rickshaw groups and different congregational programs to facilitate devotees getting association program. How many of you ever faced a difficulty when you didn't have good association of devotees? They thought Maya was stronger. So that's the society of Krishna Consciousness is meant to give this association to everybody. All the devotees, if we're together, will become stronger. He organized programs 500 years ago so all the devotees could gather together and do Harinam program. He had every Namahat member had to visit five people's homes, new people every day, plus in the evening attend some type of spiritual program. So you can see that we really had a lot of absorption in Krishna's service. Now students are busy studying the pastor examination. The head of the house is busy earning money to maintain the household. Mothers are busy caring for the children. So many times you just said, well, I don't have time. But we understand also the secret of devotional service is that everything we do, we should do is an offering to Ka. Raise your children for Ka, live in an ashram for Krishna. Whatever you do, you do it also to please Krishna, be connected to pleasing Guru and Krishna. It's very easy to do that if you're the Pujari. And it's more difficult the more indirect the activities are. But even in other environments, one can preach in those places or can use the money for practicing Ka consciousness. I came here from. I was yesterday in Slovenia and then before that I was in the Middle East. In Middle east they had three and a half years ago they had 50 devotees in this one country. It's Islamic country and it's against the law to preach in that country. But non Hindus can practice their religion in their homes. And the Sultan has given one temple for the Hindus which is a one way road at the end of the road. So nobody can go there accidentally. Just only the Hindus will go there. So they started the Bhakti Bhiksha program of small groups meeting together and met did that program really nicely. After every six months they were doubling the size of devotees. And then they have also difficulty that people move from that place all the time. It's not nobody lives, it's not a permanent place that people live. They work and then they move somewhere else. So now they have over 2,000 devotees. After three and a half years they don't have a temple. Hundreds of devotees are initiated and they have got over over a hundred bhaktived groups and outreach groups. Outreach means like special Preaching groups, more simple program. Everybody is so absorbed in the preaching. They have to work every day. When they come back home, then they take their meal and then they go out and they do different preaching programs. Husband, wife, children, everybody is involved. They have a rath yatra in that country. No, you can't have a rath yatra in that country. So they have indoor rath yatra in the temple, the one Hindu temple there's. They had a hall like this, but it's bigger than this, much bigger. Maybe six or eight times bigger than this room. So in the middle they put chairs and they put ropes so people can sit in the middle. And then they make a passage going around electrical lights and everything. And they had going around and around the hall, people pulling. For a couple hours it was going on, people coming and going. It was really packed with people. They said five to 6,000 people participated. It was so crowded that the women were getting pressed. So we let the women take around the rath one time and the children one time and the men like that. So I was, you know, I thought that was really nice that they can't do anything outside. They make indoor attachment. And then I went to a another city which was more than 2000 kilometers, about 2,1500 kilometers away in the middle of the desert. The whole flight just looking at sand and sand. Then we reached there in this small city in the desert. One of the devotees got transferred there for two months because he's an accountant. He had to check the books of the branch off office of his business. And when he was there he got about 100 people to Shanghai. There's a 12 people, 16 rounds and 50 people between 4 to 12 and the other 50 something. So I flew down there for a lunch program because I didn't have enough time. I went there at 12:30 in the afternoon and came back at 6:30. So 50 people, they told me they came to the program, midday lunch program. So one person said, you know, I want to. At the end of my class they asked a question and they said that I want to chant Hare Ka but I want to know what devotees get from chanting. So I asked the devotees what they can say, those who have already started chanting. So one devotee raised their hand and said, well, I've just been chanting a short time, but I have got some good experience. I used to be a complete materialist and I just thinking how I can join my senses. But since I started chanting I found my consciousness is changing. And now our natural desire to want to serve ka is increasing this has made me very peaceful. And this has also made me more able to deal with the problems in my workplace, problems in my home. Now I'm more peaceful. Like, this was a simple answer, but it sounded, you know, just show that we're in the middle of the desert. Somebody chants Hare Krishna works. Here we are -20 degrees and Worlds in Russia, middle of the winter. But if we chant Har Krishna, does it work? How do you think Cherry? Hare Krishna is working? So it's really exciting to me, helping people to become Ka conscious, to see people experimenting and applying Ka consciousness in their life and getting results. Ka consciousness really works. It really makes people peaceful, makes them happy. Maya is there to make us all on a mental platform. Maya tries to put us on a mental platform. Try to give some reason not to chant Hare Ka and distract us and weaken us. But if we keep on chanting, then we are protected. So that is the secret here, that we have to always be yuktuvaiva. We have to always be absorbed in Ka service. In the seventh Canto Srimad Bhagavatam, first chapter, Narada Muni explains to Judas Tir Maharaj the importance of being attached to Ka. Krishna is all good, all transcendental. Any way that somebody thinks about Krishna, somehow it's good for them. So perfection of spiritual life is to be attached to Krishna, he said. Even he said the demons who are attached to Krishna, they also got liberation. They're mentioned here in this verse. But it's not recommended to follow their process. Devotees don't make impersonal realization anyway. He was a consistent envious person against Krishna. From his childhood. When he could barely speak, he started to offend Krishna. Throughout his entire life, all he did was talk against Krishna. Anything with Krishna he was against. He was obsessed by Krishna. Finally, in the Rajasuya sacrifice, judiciary asked who should I offer the first worship to. So his proposed offered to Krishna, he objected. He's this, he's that. He's not qualified. It's so bad. I can't say the things he said. It's really nasty, Dima. He was pulling out his weapon. Okay, just look to Krishna for permission, please. Lions, don't get bothered if the jackals howl kept on speaking offensive things. Bima was holding on his weapon so hard, his knuckles were turning white. Biting his lip. He just. He just can't hold it back. He gets to smash this guy. Any minute there's going to be a bloody mess in the middle of the sacrifice. And the sacrifice is not finished. So then Krishna decides better do Something save the sacrifice. It cuts off the head at supersonic speed, faster than the speed of light. With the accuracy more than a laser cuts off the head, the head falls down upside on the top of the head. Not a single drop spills out from the demon's body. His soul came in front of everybody. Was there more than millions of sons in front of everyone. It entered into Krishna's body. The demons that get killed by Krishna, they get to merge and Krishna's effulgence. But later they take another birth or they go to some other place. So even when somebody was absorbed in Krishna enviousness, they also God delivered. If you're not 100% absorbed, then you don't get delivered. But if you leave a little devotional service favorably, that has all the good results. So let's use this example that Krishna is so pure. Even as those people who are inimical of Krishna and thinking they're Krishna, they somehow have terrified in the end what to speak if somebody's thinking of Krishna in a favorable way. Narada told Yudhisthi and Maharaj that you Pandavas, you are very absorbed in Ka because of your natural affection. Affectionate to your children like that, maybe to your friends. The Pandava's friend was Krishna. So their natural affection was perfectly dovetailed because their friend was Krishna. How would you like to have Krishna as a friend? The Yadus, they were attached to Krishna. Naram only said because he was a family member. I would like to be born in the same family as Krishna, have pastimes like that. For them, it was very natural to have affection for Krishna. They had so much affection for Krishna, so much love for Krishna. And so their attachment to Ka was out of their intense love. Of course, I don't need to ask you how many would like to have intense love for Ka? But then our Dharamuni said, and for us, you know, devotees, we're not so fortunate like you Pandavas and Vajravasis, Jadus. How do the rest of us. How do we become Krishna consciousness? E as Narada Muni said, we do devotional service. And by doing devotional service, you also become attached to Ka. And that attachment to Ka, that's what we need to somehow get many means. I mean positive means, let's lay the side of demon means. We want to become attached to Krishna. So we regularly chant and serve and serve his devotees and serve his loved ones and devis and holy name. You develop attachment. What should tell you? When he took Sannyas, he headed straight west towards Vrindavan he went maybe 70, 80 kilometers actually. Then he decided to go back to the Ganges. As he was approaching the Ganges, all the young people, all the kids, everyone was saying Hare Krishna to him. So he wondered. One man said, you must be some incarnation or something. House everybody, chance Hare Krishna when I see you. He said, no, how far is it from here to the Ganges? That's why the breeze coming from the Ganges just makes you attached to Ka. What's the word for breeze in Russian? So I know another Russian word. And Lord Chaitanya said that the Ganges is actually liquid Krishna premier. So then Lord, she says simply by bathing in the Ganges, it helps one to develop Bhava ka. Even seeing the Ganges, drinking the Ganges water or the wind, the breeze coming. So that's one of the advantages In Mayapur you get a lot of Ganges. Greece also is there too. Because I mean, it's special because in Mayapur Dham it naturally helps you to become attached to your Chaitanya. And wherever Gura Nuttai is worshiped, that place also becomes like a little Consulate general of the holy Dhamma. So you can also get some. It's more effective to develop one's attachment to the boy. Now. This year my Ampur flooded four times. And because of usually. Sometimes it floods every 10 years or so. But never flooded four times. And one time was second biggest flood in history. Inside the temple with more than 2 meters of water. The bodies came from Mangalagi and boats they had to duck under the doorway. I don't have to go inside the DD room for RTS only Didier was only 5cm above the water waste. So Prabhupada wrote in Caitanya Cheramina that when Mayapur floods, he's sending a message that he wants the preaching to be expanded from the birthplace of Lord Chaitanya all over the world. Put so we urgently need devotees help to expand the preaching all over the world. Take the message over Chittani. I brought here some water from the G. Who wants some? Can you pay the price? Of course. We also accept any donations. But the price is this. I told you before about the glorious of the Ganges, right? So this year I would say I had to go to my airport many times because of the floods. And whenever I go, the flood waters went down. Just coincidence. Whether for rotostomy. The day before Rastami the temple was filled with water. But Rad asked to me. The water went down and the temple was dry. Nice festival. And then after the rastomy in the afternoon we are doing an initiation ceremony. And then the water started to rise on the doors of the temple. We had like mud keeping the water out. Came over just as we finish. As we're going around in the fire. Then there's a picture of the fire smoking. And it's in the midst of the water that he went and let Radhastami. The temple was dry. Ganga came down for Radhastami to offer respect to Ararati. So we should be determined to offer our mind to Krishna. Be Krishna, worship Krishna, Offer Krishna our obeisances and be absorbed and serving him. Simple formula. I remember that day was very special day. Day we had a joint class. Two, three gurus gave the class that day. She's looking so beautiful. There are no words to explain how beautiful she. She was looking. We read her past name. How Ramuni. He went to see Radharani when she was a baby. First he went to see Krishna. When he saw Krishna, he was very happy in the house of Danda Maharaj. He told Nandaniya soda that you should simply take care of your child. This is your dharma. This is your religion. Wherever this child stays, that place. In that place lives Narayana. Why is that? Who can say? You don't know? Yeah. Because he is the original Narayan. But the way Narayana presented it, you know, it's like, you know, wherever he lives, you know, it's like Narayan is there. No. You don't think that my son is God? The book. I mean wherever Prabhupada was, you could feel Krishna's presence. Then Radha Muni decided, I want to see Radharani. She must be here somewhere. Because wherever Krishna comes, then Ra comes. He'd go to every house and he was. Oh, Naramuni, come in. Have a seat. Bathe his feet, offer him puja. What can we do to serve you? No, no. I just came here to bless your family. Do you have any newborn children? Bring them here. I'll bless them. So they brought the babies, blessing the baby. How many like to have a baby? Other Grihastas like to have their babies blessed by Naranamoni. And of course his real purpose was different. He was looking for someone. But he couldn't find it. Somehow he saw something. He thought, oh, let me try Bishop Banu Maharaj's house. And they brought. They also respected. They brought their son out. Their little one year old son. He'll be a good friend of Krishna and Balara. Something like that. Yeah. Do you have any other children by any chance? Well, we have A little daughter. But we're shy to bring her to you because she's. She's born blind. She hasn't opened her eyes since her birth. When I appear, I won't open my eyes until I can see Krishna. Krishna will be the first person I see. So until Krishna is in front of her, she just keeps her eyes shut. So they came out and they put baby Radharani in Naranamuri's hands. He is overwhelmed just touching her even as a little baby. He's completely overwhelmed in love of Krishna. His hairs are standing on him. He's completely stunned. He can't move. Tears are pouring from his eyes. He can't speak. He's choked up. He never seen anyone as beautiful Even as a baby ran around. He was more beautiful than anyone he had ever seen. He stayed in that stunned state holding Ranirani for one and a half hours. The parents don't know what to do. Then he came out and he. He gave back a child to them and said, you are very, very, very fortunate. This is a very special daughter. She'll be all right. In the future, you should simply worship this daughter. Just, I mean, take care of your daughter. That should be. As parents, forget other religious duties. This is your prime religious duty. Just care for this daughter wherever she lives. Lakshmi resides in that house in the forest. And he was just meditating and Radharani and saying to her, how can I be your servant? How could I be one of these gopis? How could I be your maidservant? It was so wonderful. What does one have to do to be to become a gopi? To become a servant, a radarani? Anybody here like to be a servant like that? He was praying. He was thinking, if I could just see Radha Rani as she looked when she was 14 years old with all her girlfriends, her stockings. And Radharani appeared with the eight gopis. And he pays his prostate of basins. And right around he tells one of the gopis, I think it was Baka Induleka Ranga Devi Sude, I think it was. Tell them what you have to do. Tell them how some people got to become Mahabhara's servants. And this is all thanks to the Padma Purana Puranya. So they mention how there must be about 18 or 20 examples of great Rishis and sages and yoginis who did tremendous tapasya and austerities to become a servant of Radharani. So one yogi was standing, one devotee was standing on his was standing on his tippy toes looking up at the sun up in the air. Like that. For five days of Brahma meditating on Radha and Krishna. Two brothers were standing on their heads, yoga position on their head with their feet up in the air chanting a mantra and meditating on Radhakrishna pastimes for three days of Brahma. Three days of Brahma on your head. I mean I can't remember all the examples but it was like super. I mean this inconceivable austerity. They were so determined, you know, we want to serve you right around me. So we take it very easy, you know. Yeah Chand. Hare Krishna will go right back to Raharani as possible by Lord Chaitanya's mercy. But it's something very, very great. I mean it's the greatest thing that you could achieve. There's nothing higher than that. At least we had to do is in the short lifetime we have is to be really absorbed in serving Ka because it's Kali Yuga and there's so many distractions and so many things to take away the mind from Ka. So you get. If you can keep your mind on Krishna Kali Yuga then you get like bonus special consideration. It's a handicap. It's more difficult to keep your mind because so many distractions. If you keep your mind, you get a bonus. It's like a special. That's why you can go back to Krishna in one lifetime because it's a difficult. I mean the real reason is the mercy of Lord Chaitanya. So please take advantage of this great opportunity. Be absorbed in Krishna. Go back to Krishna. Any question is mentioned twice more or less similar verse the ongoing process of Ka consciousness. I don't know if any Acharya said it's the most important verse and but it's definitely in the, you know, top one or two verses. This partner verse in 18th chapter usually always hear is like the most important verse. But maybe I haven't really paid too much attention to which verse was the most important to know what different the charities doesn't mention anything in the purport but definitely it's maybe it's most. I don't know for sure which is the most important verse in the Bhagavad Gita. Definitely this at least one of them. I don't know what reference the person who said that is the most important is using them. Sometimes people just say things. It's always good to ask them where is that from? And you know, was it Rupa Goswami said it or bhaktived? Or is it just, you know, some pundit who got an inspiration I don't want to diminish when I weather something. This is definitely probably the most essential. Because even that Sarva Dharman when that was presented to Lord Chaitanya by Brahmananda Rai. Lord Chaitanya said that external also. Well, this is really telling us about the ongoing process of devotional service goes on forever, eternally. But. And I'll keep my eyes open if I see anything that wits are the most important, important verse. Since you mentioned it, another question. Okay. It's late. I'm sorry. Pass a bit late. I'll give you your drops of Ganges water. Men and women can come in too soon. Thank you for watching our videos. Be sure to subscribe to our channel. Channel? We publish new videos every day.
