Transcript of a multi-speaker recording from the 2002 Chipped Rice Festival (Atlanta) featuring devotees’ reminiscences about Srila Prabhupada, festival preparations, kirtans, and the logistics and ritual of the Chipped Rice (flattened rice) offering. The content mixes personal anecdotes (stories from 1972–1975 and festival memory), practical descriptions of festival food preparation, and technical details about the festival cart (Ratha/Ras cart) maintenance and use.
Watching the kaji play. And many devotees have never seen these pictures. Matter of fact, most devotees have never seen these pictures. I'm making a pledge here that next year I'll have a gallery set up. Beautiful, eight by tens. And we'll have it for everyone to view these pictures, because that's where I was watching. I never saw the play. I was standing right there near the doorway, and I was taking pictures of Prabha's expressions as he watched the play. And when the vedanga, you can see when the madanga hit the ground, Prabhupada's expression was, like, very astonished. You know, he had so many expressions that you've never seen before. But you will, I promise, next guy. And we'll make a nice, nice album. And everyone can see. And also many pictures I took around Piedmont park. And some of. And some of them were just really amazing because Rabbi wore that famous saffron coat, and the sun was rising, and the sun was bright and beautiful, and it showed on his face, and it was amazing. And some other pictures of a Sunday feast lecture. Sunday feast lecture, which was very important because some. Some questions were raised there. Lady Mahaj's mother, she asked a question. What was the question? Something about Jesus.
Yes. And.
Anybody remember the question exactly? Possibly.
No, but I do remember some of the other questions.
Yeah, I remember some of the other questions. I thought Parana Paramba was going to.
Yes, yes.
Yes. And this is a very famous question, too, because at the time, there was controversy between whose service was the most significant. Was it the service of those who were taking care of the deities? Was it the service of those who were at the temple, maintaining the temple? Was it the service of those who were out on the road distributing books? Of course, there was a big controversy, and many of the devotees were at odds about these things. So Brahmachari from other Dhammadara.
Is that right?
He raised a question, and this question was a very powerful question because everybody wanted to know just exactly what please Prabhupada the most anybody would like to do that service? So he asked the question, prabhupada, what pleases you the most? And there was. There was a moment of silence, friend. We'll call it a pregnant pause.
And.
And everyone, like, lean forward to hear this. This response of Prabhupada? And Prabhupada glanced over all the devotees, and I remember very distinctly, because when he glanced over all the devotees, he may even gesture with his hands that you love Krishna. And it just answered everyone's questions. It doesn't matter what service you're doing, it's the condition of your heart for that service while you're performing that service and that you do it in a mood of devotion and love to Ka. This is what he. What he wanted all living entities to have was this love for Ka. It was also one other story I might tell about when Prabhupada was teaching us Parma Karuna the song Parma Karuna. And when he requested the Madanga which was a very unusual request, Tamakrishna looked at me and said get pictures, get pictures now. So I went and I got new film in the camera because I was taking all these pictures and I would be moving through the crowd and taking pictures in different directions. And so I'm so proud that this, you know, I'm getting all these wonderful trishkas. It's a really rare event. And because I was so hurried in loading the camera the film never advanced and I felt really devastated. It was really bad. It was really. There's no pictures of that particular event. Yeah, there is one. Somebody else took a picture.
So I think we can.
Let me close it up here. If anyone else would like to like to say anything else. Would anyone else like to like to speak about Prabhupada Panihati or anything.
Doesn't matter.
Anything about Prabhupada's fine.
There was a nice, a nice story.
That.
We were recently in New York was there and he brought the story up again. And I know there are a lot of devotees who were there who may remember this but it was 1972 and it was the famous Bhagavad Brahman discourses and I had really kind of forgot about it before Srinivadanath Mahari talked about. When he talked about it, it's in relationship to Srila Prabhupada intense desire to always hear about Krishna. He never got tired of hearing about Kaepernick. And at that state there really weren't very many what you would call advanced devotees at that time. It was in 1972 and devotees had been fasting all day long. And when in the temple room and New Vndabi had a small temple room, not even as large as this temple room here at that time it was very hot. Everyone was crowded in. It was midnight and I can remember I was. I felt so bad about it recently when I was thinking about it, I was suffering so bad at one point that I got up and walked outside to take a walk. So we'd fall asleep and I came back in again. Sri Prabhupada was in there thinking, how could I have not wanted. But what happened was Sudha Prabhupada, everybody had been fasting all day and he said, so let's hear about Krishna. You know, let's read Krishna book. And so the devotee started reading Krishna. I think there's like three stories that lead up to Krishna. One, the beginning prayers for the demigods, like that. And so the devotees began to read it. And after he read, devotees read the first story. You know, at end of the story doesn't get down to the purple holy ghost. Haribo the prophet said, so next chapter. So then they read the next story and then, then it went on like that. And at the end he said they read like the third story. The bodies were sitting there and it ended and everybody's like, you know, just everybody was wiped out. And one was Shiva probably was intensely hearing. He was so intense. So you could see he was speaking about the large, the disparity between, you know, that the conditions state that all the souls that were in, were there in relationship to Srila Prabhupada. How, how obvious it was by the contrast that Srila Prabhupada was so much intent on hearing Rakrishna. Was that Niveda?
Yeah, it was in that room. I was suffering like anything too.
It was terrible.
It was terrible. And Prabhupada kept going on and on and all of falling asleep and everybody's falling asleep and Prabhupada said, keep passing the book around, keep reading and reading. And finally he was say, all right, go take the shot.
And I, I was on a ladder, on the wind, looking in the window. And after a while I got so tired I couldn't stand on the ladder. So we went outside and this story is in Theosophies book about this and John's mom, because we're outside and as you said, we were fasting and so they decided to. Somebody said the dolphins already been made, it was past midnight. And this is, you know, so I think into the third story somebody starts to serve up the nectar. But he served it out in this thin paper cone shaped cup, okay, so it was like a yogurt nectar. And then someone else comes running out and says after a bunch of us had it in our hands, no, no.
You can't, it's not Prasada problem. It's going to be honest, it's fine.
And then a really tense discussion took place about whether we should take it or not. So everybody's standing there. No one wanted to Take, you know, to drink it, you know, but you couldn't put it down because it was a cone. It's just like a back rhythm in your hand, you know, falling apart. And then tempers really started to rage. And that's when Mr. John Swami came along. He said, pabooze, you know, in this booming voice, pabooze, please. So much is. Let's all glorify Pusha. And everybody just looked at him, okay, I'll start. And then he starts going chatur.
Like that.
He starts talking about Pesha, glorifying spiritual masters, all kinds of food stuff. Everything just starts to get real peaceful. And everyone's like experiencing a different emotion. And that went wrong. What came out and.
And walk by the.
Okay.
Our basis, just strength and victory.
That was an amazing. That seven day discourse. It was amazing. There's so many devotees that you meet Chandavanu.
There's really.
That was the first time I saw Siva parabola at that time. So many devotees were there. What they had is like a big revival tent, huge tent with sawdust all in it. And they had very large by assassin up on the mountain, on top of the mountain. And so you're going to have these huge garbage cans full of holla sweet rice buoys, you know, big old drudge like this. And devotees was just. It was like an enclave, you know, just like a heavenly planet. And everybody would sit in the valleys and just take prashadama and then Prabhu. When Paul would come, they would come.
Up and talk.
Listen to probably talk. And that was. I think that was the one where he started his lecture by explaining. He said, so everyone is looking for independence. He said, all you young boys and girls are trying to. There are so many hippies. He said, everyone's trying to be independent. He said, real independence is like in India there are yogis. He said, you can go in the river there, come up in a river here. You know, we're sitting in the middle of mountains. So mystical hearing Sheila probably talk like that. And then after the discord, that's the one where they had the cake. You heard about the famous cake?
Yeah, I had some of that.
You had some of that cake.
Part of the crowd.
Tell that story then.
But before that, I'd like to mention one of those. I think it was on the Gas Food channel at the question and answer period. One boy got up, stood up in the middle of the crowd and it was probably about 840 sitting there or 500. And he said his question was, if our purpose is to go back to Godhead. Why is Maya so strong and Prabhupada didn't? And within, boom, just like that, it goes. Because your purpose is not strong.
And then everyone.
But the cave story is that they. Papa is on the stage here on the left, Rhododometer in the middle, Juggernauts on the right. They bring the cake over. Paulo takes a little taste of it.
Very nice.
They start to bring it back across the stage. And then the crowd just. Just attacks, just mighty forward and just attack the cave. I mean, looking back, it was definitely an offense, but, you know, it was more spontaneous. It was just sort of a spiritual reading. You know, we just attacked the cake. And I remember specifically reaching over Loka Mangla's shoulder. He was about to put a piece in his mouth. That took it out of his mouth. This cake disappears within minutes. There's like. Like corrupt, you know, grab. What does that. Yeah, another huge gate. And so. And people were, like, fighting him. But later he said when he got back to his quarters, he said, so now that's okay. I forget who it was.
They were calling out his mother.
Gaiji Amaren's wife and maiden.
Hi, Chief Alba wants a cake.
We actually only have a couple minutes.
Left, but I wanted to recognize mother.
Shanki, who was here from Gainesville at that time. Can you share just a brief moment or.
Huh.
Well, then you're locked in for next year.
I'd like to add a little something from that particular episode at the Convale up there on top of the hill on the cake and everything this May was this. Right after that kirtan. There was a very famous kirtan that I was sitting, like I was saying, say right here.
Prabhupada is sitting right there on his.
Vyasa son, and Vishendrana sitting right here. And he's chanting. He's chanting the kirtan, leading the kirtan. And I'm just playing cartridges or something. And the kirtan is starting to get really, really starting to rock. Get higher and higher and higher. And all of a sudden, over everyone else's voice, Prabhupada breaks in and takes over the kirtan.
Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna.
So loud.
And everyone just looked. And literally there must have been 500 devotees. Just went up in the air about 10ft. And Prabhupada led this uproarious kirtan. And Vishenda was just like. He was like, you know, totally taken by surprise and just amazed. He kept playing. It was really wonderful moment. And I think right after that was the cakes. Everybody was out of control already.
What is chipped rice? You may ask a very good question. Following an ancient procedure, rice is dried in hot sand. Once the rice is dry, it is then pressed flat in a mill. This process yields a product that is very much favored in India for its flavor and ease of preparation. This flat rice, or chipped rice as it is known, is then prepared by soaking it in water and draining it then according to the desired taste. It is mixed with either yogurt or condensed milk. Fruits, nuts, sugar or honey and sweets can be added for a sweet taste or cut. Vegetables, salt, spices and savory items are added for a salty, spicy flavor. In Atlanta, separate lists of sweet and salty mixes are carefully given codes and printed out to be used like transcendental roadmaps to ensure things go smoothly. Weeks ahead, over 500 unglazed clay pots, dried fruits, nuts and non perishable items are purchased and stored for the event. The devotees begin preparing large quantities of sweets and savories following ancient recipes which were used at the original festival 500 years ago on the banks of the Ganges in what is now known as West Bengal for the Festival of Chipped Rice. The unglazed clay pots are cleaned, soaked and labeled according to a previously agreed upon coating system S on the pots. The salty yogurt Y denotes sweet yogurt preps and the K stands for kheer or condensed milk. Many gallons of milk are purchased and processed into yogurt and condensed milk which are kept in large containers to be ready for mixing. The devotees begin to purchase and prepare the fruits and vegetables which will be used in the mixes. Great care is used to select the best fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds that are offered in Atlanta. These come from around the world. Peaches, mangoes, kiwi, pineapple, melons, bananas and whatever fruits and vegetables are available in the market are brought together for the final preparation one to two days before the festival. Many devotees begin to spend hours daily with great attention and devotion to cut fruits and vegetables for mixing and for garnishing the pots. At the same time, they create many lovely designs to elaborately decorate the pots. Devotees collect beautiful magnolia blossoms and marigolds fresh from organic gardens for these decorations. On the day of the offering, His Holiness Jaipataka Maharaj, ISKCON Governing Body Commissioner and initiating Spiritual Master, uses the predetermined recipes to begin to combine fresh fruits, nuts and dried fruits into larger clay pots for sweet mixes. He will also blend vegetables, dried savories and spices into Pots for salty mixes. These master mixes will then be added to large containers of yogurt or condensed milk and rice combinations according to the recipe. The contents are then gently stirred to distribute the ingredients thoroughly. Once they are properly blended, the resulting chipped rice preparation is ready to be ladled into clean, labeled pots for the final step of decoration. With the same intense concentration that has been seen throughout the process, the devotees begin to create works of art on each pot. Using the sweets and savories which have been cooked ahead of time, they add flowers and fruits or vegetables according to the recipes held within the pots. As the time of the offering approaches, the pace quickens to ensure every pot is ready to be carried onto the altar for the pleasure of their lordships. A pot brigade is formed to hand hundreds of pots quickly and safely from the preparation staging area to their resting place at the lotus feet of the deities. More and more and faster and faster. Finally, the last few pots are carried onto the altar and the preparation has been completed for this year. As the devotees clean up, they discuss what went well and which things might be improved upon for next year. Meanwhile, the news has spread. The offering is complete, and the devotees are satisfied to know that such a wonderful meal has been prepared for the satisfaction of Sri Sri Gorni Thai.
Sam. It's.
So we didn't take our parents that seriously. We didn't take our priests that seriously, we didn't take our teachers that seriously. Basically, we only took our senses that seriously. And so therefore, to go from that situation where you already think that there's no authority in the traditional authorities, which I think was also a type of religion, because I think.
It'S.
So in India, the highest culture in the world, or you go to India.
Thank you.
Someone, some ability to say it, that's good enough for anyone in Islam, someone's ability to set it for most people in Islam, it's good enough to change your deity worship.
It's good enough to.
I mean, you have all kinds of superstitions and legends like you have to cup your hand when you dance. The method of worshiping the deity, preparing the form of the Lord is not stereotyped, nor is it the same everywhere. It's not stereotyped, nor is it the same. What is appropriate in India may not.
Be appropriate in America.
We must take consideration of time, place and convenience. Obviously, you can take this to a crazy extreme and destroy our spiritual movement at the same time. Prabhupada did give us flexibility and leeway within parameters, within boundaries. We have to understand very clearly to make our movement relevant, which today it simply is. And so to quote the Beatles here, when you let it get under your skin, then you begin to make it better. So I think the sooner we have sort of come out of denial, the.
Sooner we only because it.
Look.
He said they just sit around behind their desk planning the eating and sleeping. No, we're fundraising. They go to nature, you know, pay bills. We should take advantage of these festivals. Of course, it's always a great pleasure for all of us, certainly myself.
Winding.
The class down, happiness for all of us.
Are you going to help?
Definitely, yeah.
You should take advantage of the sun.
It's a work in progress.
It hasn't the process, but it's not done yet. Follow some leadership. And I think that part of that when people react, you think about when something really great happens in your life, it's dangerous spiritually. Something really bad happens in your life, it's spiritually dangerous. One godbrother of mine whose parents tragically died in a plain craft in Chicago and he inherited a lot of money and that was the end of the spiritual life. And so if something very good or very bad happens, which area of life then very easily control us off the track either by excessive material excitement and happiness or excessive anger, frustration, something bad happens. And so when Prabhupada disappeared, if I'll be very honest, when Prabhupada disappeared due to our immaturity, some people couldn't handle it. And when it was difficult with that.
There was a reaction.
And what was the reaction? It was people who were equally immature or even less mature getting thrown by great frustration, the great disappointment. The difference is that the second.
The.
Second event became engraved in stone. It became impermanent. You do get back into the rank and so on and so forth. We do follow or lead or get out of the way. There are very mature societies like the Methodist Church, the Presbyterians, they have very mature social structures. But you don't think of them as a movement. You don't normally think of the Methodist movement or the Presbyterian movement. You know, middle age is a double edged sword.
And.
Eventually I will also myself become middle aged. I've heard from other devotees because when you're middle aged or older, you're mature, patient, but you're not necessarily revolutionary. You're not necessarily revolutionary. Young people, young people tend to be activistic, they have all this energy. And older people tend to be more peaceful. Where we're all working together, where we all agree we need to have histagosis, we can talk about how to get the movement going.
Yeah.
Everything that is ka. Come on. Somebody should write and let me get.
I think you have all of it. You're an example of something as many.
You feel that many you write. We cannot Mataji. We cannot write before filming.
You.
One thing often here in Isa it's very common thing here is that why don't the Jesus. But I find it helpful. Guess what Movement was sort of quite autocratic. And we can go into social historical analysis of this. And so we have all these devotees. We're actually intelligent, productive people. But kind of afraid.
It tomatoes already good.
Maggie.
I get.
They think it.
Okay, this is done. Why don't you finish this mutage?
Wipe it.
Be careful. Okay. No, no, no, no, no.
Don't put water there.
I'm not making any.
I'm not making any birds.
Yeah, yeah.
So what you're getting though.
Whenever the.
Big pot comes you.
There'S six of these. In other words, there's six different flavors. So that this is how much quantity we're mixing. We're getting this much flavor.
That means 16 is 100, 80.
Is.
30 times 6 is 100.
Tell me this now.
Thank you.
Thank you for yours.
Yeah.
Two different from Alachua and crescent. Yeah, Alachua.
And start that until you're finished here.
This is May.
Please finish this.
Maya far away.
All the he had to establish very famous.
President Chicago Many.
Years we were.
Chicago New York.
Big competition.
One year there was a major competition.
Course.
Triple A was here and Nikon was here. And so.
Big SW do we have.
Big sweet.
And our.
Contribution to the DBT in the forms of Washington was in instrumental making sure I remember this distinctly. He was relationship with the DDT at all cost.
Whatever that meant. If it meant we had to go.
Without something, so be it.
That was the relationship was in his heart and stayed there.
And turn the mic over.
Go for one of the details.
Don't forget about chicken.
Magnolia.
I'd like to thank all of our for having.
Having such a wonderful.
You know, like.
Goodness. So Brahma is the creator. Shiva is the destroyer condition. That takes vision to maintain. So to maintain someone has to be.
Here you can have these. Does everybody have lemon pineapple?
Yeah. It's not just sentimental. This is smart.
So we're. They were.
I mean we have a certain prejudice. So many other devotees who were coming to visit their lives were impacted.
Even.
I remember Tamal Krishnara saying that during that period he hadn't done since the early days of the movement. For example, he gave a song class and played the Madanga on the Diasa sign and taught us a song. Prophet said in the end he was asked why he was so pleased with the devotees in the temple in Atlanta because there were so there were other temples that cooperative spirit. That's what. That's what his. What's his happiness. But he saw because in those days in 1975 which was for lack of a better term was sort of like.
The beginning of a.
Civil war of the movement based on ashram and bon. But there was also some controversy about.
You know and.
But everyone was being assigned all their other issues and besides the fact all the temples in competing with one another present in results. Because that meant Prabhupada recognizes like one great example. It's San Prabhu. He tells the story about when PR we do have two PCs and some older woman was here and probably wanted.
A chair for her.
You know everybody two or three promise rushed pushed each other aside trying to get a chair so that they could show proper that they were willing to give that water. In other words. But you wanted to do whatever this one can go.
This one can go over.
Okay so there was a lot of competition here. Everyone came those two three days. Everyone put aside smart with incredible Even if you know the stories of these buildings. We had just moved into them months prior and go but these buildings were practically gutted what we did there's nothing short of cucumbers cucumbers that he was describing building actually literally building with y as he was coming and you know he went on and.
Wherever I go.
Should we have somebody who's not doing anything.
These kinds of memories shouldn't be just limited to days either but they should be sacred memories that are put in a secret place because. Because.
And you know there's just a few of these left big pot people and they're nice special sometimes use these. You can take this. Yeah. And this also back Cherry.
Cherry has beautiful peacock.
Please help us very nicely dressed.
Even then there was some just a.
Little side.
You put a couple more of these even cuz they're really hard to put on the big pots the.
Chat But I.
Never like to show make a show of their devotion and mistake. You know what okay.
So translation for a few minutes and then we get.
Into a heavy philosophy.
I'll get your toes out. For this reason my son, you should immediately pacify kuvera with gentle words.
Which.
Means literally make him be merciful to you. Causative form means just like in Sanskrit you say karoti he or she does he or she or it does. If you say karyate means he sheer causes. It's just a regular burger.
Salad, I.
Guess sugar.
Things like that. So every.
Every culture has these words and in Sanskrit one of the common things is but which means a calf. Calf because you know, calves are natural objects of infection.
So here.
Actually one who. Yeah, we'll let you out.
I think.
I did.
The rabbi was known for being very foreign. So at a certain point on this unholy day he was about to launch into a probably very long unbearable sermon. And people drifting out of the room, trickling out, making the door rabbi notes shouting microphone people leaving. Stop. Close that door. Lock that door. Then there was this desperate. This desperate frantic rush of the door people.
TR.
Was not going to break.
Steel.
Why was it reinforced?
You need more people here to.
It's okay.
You don't mind walking.
Totally in sync. So after this massive where everybody was jumping off there used to be walls over there. Walls there.
Here. Sa Ram Sam Sa Sa. It's.
It's.
Saiba.
Don'T it?
Table I Sam.

June 24th Saturday just before the Rath Yatra in Atlanta. New Panihati at the New Panihati Chipped Rice Festival. And this is Angela Hill and she takes care of the Ras cart from year to year to make sure it runs nicely. So today she's going to tell us some of the features of the cart and how she keeps it from year to year. So it runs well for Jagannath.
Jai Jagannath Sri Ras was built around 10 years ago. The upper portion was built by the devotees here at the Atlantic Temple. The undercarriage the Chassis is an old buckboard. It was an old Sears buckboard chassis, but now it's a John Deere covered wagon chassis. The storage system on our Ross, you have to have it just right because if you don't keep the wheels elevated, they tend to rot. So that's what happened to the first chassis. And to change it, we just simply jacked up the top part, slid out the old chassis and put the new one in. There was one improvement with we made had a new axle where the boring beetles had come in and rotted it out. But the wheels are all original to the wagon and we try to keep it painted and covered every year with a tarp. You have to be real attentive towards all the joints because sometimes they'll get weak. So you always tighten the nuts every year and pay real close attention to the steering, steering mechanisms to make sure they maintained a real strong. When he told Jayananda to build carts, he said, make them strong. Everything you do, make as strong as you possibly can for the deities when they're processed up to the cart. But as soon as the deities are aboard and the devotees, the pajaris, are on, we take the steps off by sliding out this rod and move the steps around to the back of the cart and store them in the back for the Rothio. Every year we take them off the axle by unloosening the hubs. And hubs on wagon wheels always turn in the opposite direction of the wheels to unloosen them. So on this side they'd be turning counter clockwise because they. They always. When the wheels are rotating forward, they tighten the hubs. They keep them tight automatically. So therefore, on the other side of the cart, they would turn opposite directions. So you just always maintain. Check all these and grease. Put grease all on the hubs on the skeins. That's what that part of the wagon is called. Put lots of pack grease all in there and also up at the front of the steering point for the steering. As you can see, it's right between this all pivots around with the steering rod. And so you have to keep a lot of grease packed underneath here. We have to have a very attentive steerer because you never. There's a pin right here that goes all the way through up to the top. And if you turn too sharply and the wheel binds with the frame, it will lift the whole top off the chassis. This will just come apart. So the person steering has to be very attentive and not let the wheel bind on the framing original Braking system on it. The only thing that we changed was added a much thicker pad. And because we're using rubber wheels, we had to put a small band of aluminum flashing right there. So they wouldn't bind. If you just had plain wood and you apply the brake, it jerks when it stops. So with a little bit of flashing, it slides to a nice smooth stop. Brakeman is usually on the ground and can apply plenty of pressure this way. And also we put ropes attached to the rear of the cart. So that other devotees can pull with ropes for brake alter. We had a problem with rot on it. So we took it down, made a new back with the same template of the old one. But in this case, we added a devotee Rasanath. Added seat belts made out of mesh bands with buckles. So the deities have a comfortable seat belt system. Service to Shira is very merciful. I first learned about it from a devotee Dasarath, who told me about Jayant. And when I found out how merciful and how ecstatic service to the Roth is, You really realize how fortunate you are if you're allowed to work on it. Discovered that the old chassis was too rotten to carry the top. Then we were all the devotees, we were in anxiety about how we were going to replace the wheels, how we were would build it. So I was driving down La Vista Road, and this antique store had this chassis sitting out in front. So I stopped and asked them if it was for sale. And at first they said no. And then I just told Lord Juggernaut. This is like. He directed us to the chassis. It's an unusual find. And eventually, after a couple of weeks, the fellow said he would sell. So he sold it to me, to the devotees. And we had. The only problem was the front axle had rotted from wood. Boring beetles. So we replaced this. And that was the most. That was the major endeavor to get the chassis ready. Because the wheels are very sound. They had been stored in a nice dry place where they were up off the ground so they didn't have any rot damage. The process of taking the top off the old chassis. We got a giant hydraulic jack. Lifted up the front end and the rear separately. And chopped it up by using big logs of wood. So we had it suspended in the air by this side. So the old chassis pulled out fairly readily. Because it's only bolted in just a couple of places. So we unbolted it, pulled it out, and then this one. We put it in two sections. First we pulled the rear wheels underneath and got those situated. And then brought the front end in and worked it in around the wood here with these. Just fitted it, slid it right down the center, put it together, bolted it in.
