Jayapataka Swami tells a story about a mouse transformed into a cat, dog, and tiger, then back to mouse, teaching the importance of remembering Krishna and spiritual masters. The program features Bharatnatyam dance performances including Pushpanjali, Alarippu, and Jatisvaram, with pieces depicting Radha and Krishna.
Sam. It's Ram. La. It's Ram. Krishna. Krishna. Krishna. Please give a big hand to Un. Please give a warm welcome to Mishra. Please greet and give your warmest feelings to all.
Anxious animal was a fearful little mouse who hesitatingly tiptoed forward to beg a boon. A yogi slowly opened his eyes and gazed on the rodent who bowed down meekly. And what can I do for you, my child? Asked the mistake.
My dear stately personality, Squeaked the mouse. I've come to ask a favor of you. I am always being pursued by mouse eating monsters who chase and bounce. Many of my family members have fallen as victims. Can you help me from this type of horrible fate, please?
So what do you actually want, little one?
I want to be a cat.
A cat is a. You believe being a cat will solve your problems? Asked the thoughtful theist.
That is my hope, O great one. Please help me.
Was the nervous reply. So, with a wave of a hand, the miserable little vows was immediate transformed into a sleek, strong, yet quite ordinary cat. The feline was immensely stretching its limbs. It turned about, testing its newly acquired paws and claws, hurrying farewell with a sincere meow of appreciation.
Thank you very much.
The cat departed and the ascetic then returned to his trance in peace. After a length of time in the same location, the meditator was again interrupted, this time by an odd looking dirty animal that seemed strangely familiar. It appeared with crimped ears, bent tail, scarred face and ruffled coat. Yes, it was the self same cat. So again the sav looking being approached for a blessing. His concentration broken by the intrusion of the now scruffy target of nature's force. The saintly person spoke. Ah, it is you. Now you want something more? Explain yourself.
Ow. Ow. Great soul. Ow. Ow. I suffered at the hands of fate. Please correct meow. What more fool.
What is it this time?
Wish to be a dog?
A dog?
So be.
And simply by raising his arm, the mystic sage turned the informed feline into a bright eyed canine. Just like that. How happy the pooch was, head held high, nose greeting, the air filled with fresh enthusiasm. It expressed thanks with a sharp bark, with the jauntiest of games out with the utmost confidence to seek its fortune. And the sage also pleased to be left alone, re entered his meditation in a peaceful state of mind. And that was that. But well, in the course of time, before too long, life has its ups and downs. One's destiny is always changing. One is strong, another weak. The dark crawled back into the hermitage with its tail tucked between its legs. And proceeded to lie down at the feet of his master. The dog was whimpering in a grief stricken condition. This time the sage was on the verge of expressing anger. He opened his eyes and glared a the poor bedraggled dog Again you've come. Oh, sorry one, I warn you, this is your final opportunity. I do not want to be disturbed in my meditation again. Do you understand? Choose carefully for I will grant you no other wish after this. Is that clear?
I understand.
So after a period of deliberation the cautioned cur came to a decision. It placed its paws together and put its weather beaten head on the floor. Ever so gradually the tiger rose up Never losing any of the sacred the tiger poised itself with ways of sharp claws extended and its huge jaws giving it was calmly dressed by the holy man. So you want to eat with me?
Yes.
Was the response. But at that very moment it again became a mouse. Realizing its fate in a sudden fit of fear it fled into a crack from where it had once emerged and from that tie in it was never again seen nor heard. Thus ends the tale of again become.
A mouse.
Extraordinarily changes and this can happen to anyone. However, if one forgets the advantage received from a saintly person if one forgets that the source of everyone's power is the supreme personality of Godhead Sri Krishna then everything will be lost. Krishna through the spiritual masters is bestowing so much mercy on everyone Therefore we should be obliged to him but if we do not feel obliged if we forget God then everything will be lost. By the grace of Krishna we have wealth, beauty, etching power but if we become forgetful of Ka and offensive to his devotees we misuse the power and opulence given to us by him and all is lost. This is the law of nature. Nature is low.
Ram, I would request mother Mahaguna to.
Come and introduce her students.
Mohini.
I'm sorry.
That was. The second row was Mohini and Sita the third row was Chitraleka and Madhavi Clark.
Thank you.
The South Indian classical dance and it is over 2000 years old. It was originally danced in the temples of South India by the date the of or handmaidens who lived in the temple and danced daily as a part of the worship for the deity. Today we're bringing this dance for the pleasure of the Lord and his devotees. It is a purely devotional dance form. I'll begin traditionally with Push Panjali for an offering of flowers with a small Shloka on Ganapati the elephant headed God who is the writer of the scripture and he removes all worries or obstacles on our path of devotion. Pushpanchli will be followed by Nate Shikautvang which is a small dance and for of Lord Nataraj, the Lord of dance who wears a tiger skin around his waist and snakes around his neck and holds the Trishula trident. Many great sages worship him. Worship his lotus feet which are adorned with Nekhtas. His dancing is compared to the sun and the moon. Natasha Kotam Push Panjali followed by Natasha Kotam.
Thank you. Sa Jim Sam Sa.
Alaripu. Alaripu is compared to the blossoming of a lotus flower. This is an original traditional beginning piece. This is where the dancer opens oneself like a flower and offers his entire being to the deity. This dance is very beautiful. It has beautiful embellishments of the neck, eyes and eyebrows. Slowly moving down to the arms and to very fast footwork. Today we all have the honor of witnessing Janakurishi. This is his first performance.
Simmons.
He's been learning for almost a year. So please give him a warm welcome.

Both men and women dance Bharatnatyam. It is the dance of Lord Shiva. How can a man not dance it? It's just you don't make much money doing dance. So the women usually just do the dance. So it's very nice to encourage this devotional art for the men as well. It's very nice. The next dance is a Jatisvaram. Jatiswaram means dance verses set to musical notes. There is no literal meaning to this dance. It is just for the beauty of the race Raga and the talam. The melody and the rhythm. This is Hamsanandi raga. So I will now present Hamsanandi.
Is Sa is with Sam. Daddy.
Is a pure Abhinaya piece. Abhinaya means facial expression in putting Natyam. There is Nritya which is pure dance. There is Natta which is acting and there is Abhinaya. Abhinaya is facial expression connected with hand mudras to tell the story. This next dance is pure Abhinaya and mudras. It is an ashram by Jayadev Goswami. In the stairs the Saki goes in search of Raha. She finds her. Sorry, can we have silence because it's got some concentration. She finds Radha crying inside of the Kunj. She says, my dear Radha, why are you crying? Ah, I see. You want Krishna to come. Don't worry. I shall go and I'll bring Krishna quickly. You wait here. And the Saki goes in search of Krishna. She's looking everywhere. Finally she finds him also in separation of Radhika. Unable to stand, she says, My dear Govinda, Radha is suffering in her kunj. She cannot even walk. You must see her state. She has been like this for many days. My dear Govinda, please go to her. My dear Krishna, Masaki says Radha awaits your arrival. She searches in all eight directions. She dresses herself very nice, nicely with earrings, necklace, tikka and bindi. And wearing her shawl she goes out into the forest looking for you, Krishna, waiting to meet you in secret. But you do not come. Oh Hari, you are Jagannath, the Lord of the Universe. And still you cannot go and meet Radha. The Saki says, Radha waits on the banks of the Jamuna. And she takes the white lotus flowers and weaves bracelets out of them and wears them on her wrists to cool her body. And she embraces them, thinking you have come. But to no avail, Krishna. Her illusions constantly leave her. My dear Krishna, Lord of all of the universes, please can't you go to Radha? She's losing her mind. She looks at herself in the mirror and she thinks that she is Krishna. She dresses and puts a dhoti on. She wears a sash, searching for some peacock feather. She finds a leaf and puts it in her hair. Then she's in need of a flute. She picks a twig and she carries it like a flute in great ecstasy she calls her friends, Look, Krishna has come. See, Krishna's here. And then she realizes that you have not come. My dear Lord, Lord of the Universe, with such great power, can't you go to Radha? Finally the Sakhi explains to Krishna the dark clouds of the night remind Radha of you. And she thinks, yes, my Hari has come. And she embraces the clouds, all excited, thinking Krishna has come, he's here, he's everywhere, embracing these clouds. She realizes that you have not come and she calls out to you very loudly and cries shamelessly. My dear Lord, why haven't you come? The Saki pleads to Krishna, Radha is crying. Please Lord Jagannath, go to her. And the Saki leads Sri Krishna to radio Radha Ashta Krishna.
