Jayapataka Swami discusses Krishna consciousness practices, including how chanting helps dying animals and the dead, the three types of karma, and why cows deserve care. He tells stories about a gardener and tree roots, and how reciting the Bhagavad-gita's fifth chapter freed souls through water in a devotee's skull.
It sam sajivam sanvai Sam savadutam ham it. I thought you're going to talk about Jaina and then night tonight otherwise he lost a realization. How are you?
How are you?
What would be happening in my here the main temple disposed of one and that Samadhi is having the last 200 devotees on safari and sometimes some yatra somewhere in the airport Then come back to.
Walking around.
They don't walk boats and buses small ones. I went with them to how would we count Samadhi Temple of Chagangadas Babaji and Dhanushwar Vishnu Pina and also the protector of the Dao protectress of the Dao Kodamaya and the temple of Balanchine and also to watch the family's birthday.
There are lots of temples with other There are non Iskcon and non Hare Krishna and they've got. They worship the deities Krishna or other forms of Ka and they may be just following certain rituals. So I was just wondering if when we attend those temples are they following things properly or are they qualified? What should the attitude? Are they because we believe that Krishna is there in his gaity and easy soul than this place.
You can take the fifth amendment we could start Ganesh How? Out of respect we offer our oblations to the different devas and gurus as Vaishnavas. They're Vaishnavas just like Georgia is known as Nalayani Vaishnavi waterfall city too still with.
With the. With the De but what about girls who worship different forms of some of the Krishna Vishud agents like the.
Vaishnavas as well I think but non.
Islamic.
Well, if there are from Bona there's four bona fide some for diets Accept that certain self manifest renowned deities that have a high standard of worship like Jagannathuri has their own system of worship. Although we all take Jagannathuri to Sama and otherwise it's the Sri sample Daya Otherwise you have to kind of see what the practices are. But there was a case where Lord Chitanya was invited by one Sabhu who had a beard. He said Come and see my beauties. We have Radha and Krishna bearings. And then he said well, I should offer Balya Boga which means the breakfast. He sudden has some food prasadam and Garanga sat down. We put down a leaf plate and goes on work some aside from the beauty, some fruit breakfast. So they were trying to change. Then the Sadhu said why don't you stay for lunch? I'll Be offering Raj a bowl. And for you I gain a special fish. An offer to the Lord. And then he says, the fruit of the water. Then Lord Chaitanya Nanda and said, you have a vegetarian. They spit out whatever they were eating. And they jumped up and they ran to the Ganges and jumped in with their clothes on to purify themselves. So now we can see that if there's some worshippers or some system that is completely. There's pretty weird standards here. The girls pet her.
And.
In the modern age.
Educating themselves from this camp.
Yeah. What's your realization? Taking care of the cows.
Yeah, that's right. Krishna takes care of you. He takes care of the cows. All things seem to work nicely. Take care of the cows. And everything seems to work really smoothly. And everyone's really happy. The coyotes are happy and it's very peaceful. Keeps your mind very peaceful looking after the cows. Sometimes the cows cry when you chant. So you've got to keep chanting because if you stop, they stop crying and.
You feel really bad. So you've got to keep chanting.
They really like Govinda Jaya Jaya, Gopala Jaya Jaya. That's their favorite. And when they leave their bodies, they have this time where they really.
Require.
You to chance for them. Mara just helped us with a bullet that was making his body. And we were trying to grow Kala Jaya Jaya to him and asked him if it was a nice. He really had enough. He was suffering quite hard. And we asked him to, you know, maybe leave his body now because it wasn't helping him anymore. And so he had his eyes rolled back the whole time. Mara, he couldn't focus on you. And then as we started to chant, his eyes rolled around and he looked at us. This is like, you know, five days later, you know, like he's starting to focus because we're chanting to him like this, you know. And then we said, you know, maybe when we go out, you'd like to leave your body. And so we went out and he left his body. No, he didn't. Marriage. It was in the middle of the thing.
Next time.
Next time we do that. Yeah, it's a good idea. We stay out with them.
They only leave your bodies when we go. Yeah.
If there's a bulletproof or how that's gone down, the girls will pitch up a tent to stay with them overnight as well. When somebody commits suicide, they become a ghost. How do they actually go back to human form after that? How long do they spend as a ghost?
In about same length of life, same.
As what we have As a human.
Well, whatever they are, sometimes that's multiplied. In other words, say someone want to live to be 89, they'd still be hanging around till they're 89, still be in the ghost level.
What happens if one of their family members is chanting out Krishna? Does that help?
Can hear from direct ways to eat Sam restaurants.
We do lunch and dinner Monday to Friday, Saturday evening, two Sundays a month.
How long is that all?
We were running we bought a restaurant from the devotee family. They're three years ago. So we became devotees out there and then there's about half an hour outside and then outside of camp itself. And so have to remind ourselves that he's coming up through this season during this program in Salad installation to come to Cairns we could contact a lot more people to make the teaching programs a little bit easier.
Restaurants are very important. Calculating the cost back it. I don't serve God, but I want to serve a God. Stoop and scoop. That's it. That's what I want. No one was killed in a battlefield at Kulashetra. Only their dresses were changed when the order of Krishna was personally present. Therefore, Jna while fighting on the land hill of the Rukshetra was only really denying on lordship. Was that really fighting with me? Arjuna while fighting in a battlefield on Krishetra was not really fighting at all. He was simply carrying out the orders of Krishna and pro Krishna consciousness. Such a person is never entangled in the reactions of work. And he wise a pure soul who controlled his mind and senses and became revered to everyone. He used to go out every year to get the permits for the Rathayatra in San Francisco. Because when he got blood leukemia, he left the world also in a very special way. So next year when the devotee had to go not at the Bonhill to get the permit and they asked well, where is John? That was his non spiritual name. And then they said, well, you didn't hear that he passed away. And the government lady who gives the permit, she started crying. She said he was such a nice person. He just looks forward every year you were coming make our whole office just seem spiritualized. He was so nice, so diamondicable. He had such an effect on people that even they may not be practicing devotees or anything, but he was dear to everyone. The Sisco swamis and Vrindava who they were Veda ascetics. They are very dear to all the local villagers and people. Sometimes if they had a dispute, they would go to them and have them mediated because they're all adhered to them. So being a devotee, working in devotion, controlling mind and senses become dear to everyone that dear to him. So Krishna is giving a secret here. We work in devotion, we try to please the Lord, we try to control our mind and senses. We work for the welfare of other human entities. And in this way we can help somebody please people. It's a very special opportunity because the devotee sees that everyone is a part of Krishna. So everyone, because Ka is dear to him and everyone is dear to him. So he's dear to everyone and everyone is dear to him. So someone is working like that in a divine consciousness, they don't get entangled by the laws of karma. Karma means whatever we do, we get a reaction for that, right? If we do something to help other people, we get good reactions. If we do things to harm other people, we get bad reactions. Reactions being good health, wealth, education, a good birth. All these things are freedom from bad situations. All these things are symptoms of good karma. And bad karma is absence of that no money, no good health, not a good birth, not free from so many encounters with legal problem. So we have two different venture counts. We have a good karma account and a bad karma account. Many people think that if I do good work it's going to cancel out the bad work. It doesn't work that way. You have two separate accounts. So first you get to spend your lip account and, and when and then occasionally that bad account something happens to which takes out an imbalance from there. So but doing good work just adds more balance in your good account. It doesn't take out the balance from the bad account. Eventually you have to suffer a little bit. Daniel if somebody is performing works for Krishna means sacrificial works. That means devotional service, chanting, hearing clear the temple, helping with some and yesterday festivals so many people go shopping, they have errands, they did so many things, they clean the temple, they so anything you do for Ka that goes into a special third account, that's your Ka account and that doesn't the Vancouver so material bandwidth doesn't burn only bedtime, but spiritual woodwork that goes into a spiritual account plus it retires some of the mankind. That's a very special nature of the a spiritual craving. That's the secret. If we're working for Krishna, we don't get this bad karma or good karma, we don't get it enabled everything as service for Ka. As soon as we start to do things for our own or for our extended personal interest, then we have to take the responsibility. So sacrifice Meaning service for Vishnu. That's the only of Ka. It's the only sure way that we can get free from this wonders. So it's a very, very important secret, very confidential knowledge how we work and how the work is producing these reactions. Here it mentions about water going to the root of the tree. It will be distributed to all of these and branches and there's two different examples. If the control essentials equal to. Sometimes something happens but there's a potential disruption. So then lord allows either himself to incarnate or empower someone or something to help to correct the godliness. Absolutely. We told the story about a rich landing art. Yes. Here in Australia you never had a feudal system. Now we have lords and dukes and earls and things like that. This is the governor general. So. So this landlord, he went into his. He had a big house, a palace, had his own temple and a garden. He went into his garden and there he found that the gardener was growing, was watering the leaves and branches of some of the trees by putting a ladder, climbing up and watering the leaves and branches. She said, what are you doing? I'm watering the tree. Why don't you water the roots, sir? I thought this morning that every day I water the roots and I'm wasting. So I stand weighing the roots. So if you water the root of the tree, the whole tree gets nourishment. Water the leaves, the branches, you break some of the flowers or damage the fruits, you have nothing. So then the landlord chastiser just water the roots. This way you bring flowers, make the fruits off and harm everything. You just water the root and the whole. The root is like the mouth of the Ganges, the whole tree. So then the landlord what a great secret art. And I got. How do you get these ideas? Anyone? Halloween. So then where are we? He went into his temple and there. There are many doorways and so one of the doors leads to the beatings. Next door's living. So then he found that this gujari was sitting in one room and he was covered with soup. Rice, vegetables, chutney. Completely covered his arms, legs, shirt, everything. What is going on here? The piece is holding up just here. And watch this pujari. The puja is putting Vedic mantras sweet rice up the nose. Isha kiram viram Krishnam. Putting chutney in his ear, putting sweet rice in his eyes. There's too much. What's this guy doing to kill himself? So the Lord, he ran out and he said what are you doing? Why are you putting all this juice up your ears? And why are you doing all this? He said, well, what are you doing with your all covered with the balance? Do you see my mask? Every day I feed my mouth, but I thought today, let me feed my senses. Every day my mouth is heating, but my senses, they're not getting any nutrition. I mean, they're not getting the same experience. So why don't my other senses enjoy the food? So I putting the food in my ears and my nose and my eyes, all the different parts of my body, all the senses enjoy it. The landlord said, you're crazy. What's wrong with you? You don't know that the body is designed that you eat the food, put it in the mouth, goes to the stomach, the stomach digests, it carries all the nutrition to the different parts of the body. But if you just put the food all over your body, in your ears and your nose and everywhere, it's going to rot, it's going to cause disease, it's going to kill you. So just feed the mouth and that takes care of everything. You don't have to worry about your senses. That's how they get the nutrition. That's the stomach's part of the whole team effort. So then the guy said, well, okay, now I understand. I never understood before. I thought that, you know, all the senses are the same. Why should I just give the preference only to the mouth, but all the other senses enjoy? But since you say it could kill me and it's not practical, okay, then I'll just feed my mouth. So like this, we make also this kind of mistake. Many people think that serving individual people is the greatest charity work. But it's like watering the different leaves of the tree. If we can water the root of the tree, then all the leaves will get to nourishment. So ka consciousness means the water, the root of the tree. When we serve ka, then everyone gets the benefit. That's the wonderful thing, since everybody gets the benefit and nobody is left out. He went out one day on a program, never came back. They never found the body. So then they assumed that he must have died. They gave her a pension. She was dressed as a widow. She was having her own private life, living on the king's pension after murdering her husband, doing all kinds of bad karmic things. So then eventually she got sick. Said she got pilots, not an incurable disease, but she got in such an extreme way that she would begin to bleed from the anus very profusely. To the extent that she died of bleeding from the anus must have been very painful. Death. And she also was taken to Yamaboat my lady for her judgment. Sadly, we're. If we get a new judgment, unless we do good stuff, then we go up more. Forgiven. Krishna consciously go back to godhead. The ring for judgment. You were simply after Sanskritification. You didn't do anything religious or anything spiritual. Whole life is meaningless. You don't deserve be a human being either. So you want to look pretty, look nice so you can become a female parrot. You sing nice, look nice, but you have a bird brain. So she took birth as a parrot flying around in the jungle. So from big royal musicians, Grammy winners and everything. Next birth, you know, they're vulture and a parrot. I'm wondering what is that of the fifth chapter about? We're getting to that. So one day the vulture is flying over the forest and he sees this little bean bird flying. Suddenly gets a flash. Death is my wife and my previous birth reincarnated. This is bird. So he swoops down. You killed me in my sleep. Now I'm gonna give you medicine. I'm not gonna let you die easy. All the suffering you caused me. Now I'm gonna tear you apart. Bit by bit, he started torturing her with his talons. He started cutting up hard work. She was getting thirsty. So he looked around and said, oh, there was a skeleton there. There was a skull upside down, filled with water. Vulture that's like, wow, like nectar drink skull juice. So he flies into over that skull to drink some of the water. Then the parrot screaming, chee chee, chee chee. So when hunter hears the sound of the parrot and sees these birds and stuff in a distance, he takes his arrow meat, pierces both the parrot and the vulture and they die. And they fall in the water of the skull. Yamadutas, the messengers from the judge of death again takes the subtle bodies back to the Khalid planets, back to the judgment area. And Siyamura said, oh, you're back here together this time. And so the accountants there, he said, well, these people, you made a vulture and a bird. But as the vulture, he caught her and he was trying to get vengeance back on her, trying to torture her. He somehow got a human flashback. And so what did they deserve? And then they said, they got a burn. We got really soft for these people. They don't learn anything. So. But then the amaranth said, wait a minute, no, these two are free. They go back to die. They're liberated. And the man, you know, he himself, my lord, he's sure I remember. How is it possible? I Could deliberate it. What did I ever do that preserved it? I said well, remember that skull you were standing on when you fell into the skull water when you were killed? That skeleton belonged to a devotee who every day used to share the fifth chapter of Bhagavad Git. And since the fifth chapter of BhagavadaD Gita is so pure his whole body became purified. Even his bones are sacred. So much so that the water in his skull is like Tir Dajal. It's like a special holy water. Like something like the Ganges. So by touching that water when you're dying, you are free of all your sins. All your bad karma is gone. Now you can go back to Godhead. You don't have to be here in the mature moments. Some kind of Agnatha Sukriti. Maybe as a singer he sang some Bhajan or something. Somehow he got that blessing that he could touch the bones that were pure. So if we should imagine that by chanting the fifth chapter of Mahavakita someone becomes so pure that even after his death his bones have become like a holy tooth vest. Then if you actually chant the fifth chapter of Bhagava every day, is there any question what your destinations are to be? This is a thought to meditate on. You just heard a little few verses from the fifth chapter telling us about loss of karma or devotional service about Yoga. Sorry if I have that story. It was a bit graphic. I'll let you go now and take your feast. And at 7 o' clock we have our tea. At 7:30 I'll be available in the theater for question and answers. So any questions you have taken note of them and we'll answer the questions then. Thank you all very much. Hi Krishna. Her name is Jay Sadakaswami. I come.
