2003 || Śrīmad Bhāgavatam and Caitanya Caritāmṛta || Italy #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

A recorded spiritual discourse (2003) by Jayapataka Swami discussing historical Vedic-era and medieval Indian narratives, the benefits of centralized governance (one-world/empire) for peace, pastimes of Lord Chaitanya and related devotees (Shrinivasacharya), temple histories, and responsibilities of modern devotees to spread Krishna consciousness. The talk mixes historical anecdotes, devotional legend, and practical exhortations to take service roles in the movement.
I was considering the how like today, Liberia, civil wars, other people getting killed, different places. A one world government is a solution to that.
England.
All over the world was a vast empire at one time. And you could say that for a long period of time there was peace within the empire that they were ruling. I was reading about Benjamin Franklin some place he stayed here in London and gave a history about how he was all Englishmen. All the American colony fathers were English and they their claim was we don't want to pay taxation unless we have representation. England was already a democracy then. They were English and because they were in the colonies they had to. They weren't taxed. For those who taxed they were going to stay in the colonies. But then England wanted to tax the colonies. But then so they said they want to tax them in the US or other things. The rest of all in the House of Commons too. But for some reason England didn't give the colony then what? And I was just thinking how the whole history of the world would have been changed if whoever were the members of parliament at that time had given American colonies the vote, the representation, some kind of representative hate. England would probably still believe. If England had given a vote to India there wouldn't be Indian power in America. It would be still a vast empire of English empire. Of course England itself would be a minority in terms of representation in front of us. Anyway that's how history happened. At some point in time having a world government would be very useful to stop all these little wars that are going on. Because at that time he had one king and one emperor and all the kings on him. He had more military power, he could impose peace. Some they started fighting against each other. In those days it was the Kshatriyas that fight against the Kshatriyas. It wasn't the alliance people. So any kind of little disputes they just had duels like they all boils everybody else. So the world was a much more peaceful place. Now we have all these little countries but the United nations is very weak. So everyone they can do what they want but later try to work it out or something bring the world directly into more situations. Anyway it's not conflict but this is something that the Prabhupada was discussing that in the future having a world government would actually be useful in the western countries. Was it a reasonable. So in that otherness you can have relation. We can see that here there was a one world government at that time the world was a peaceful place. As long as the rulers are good then the world is Peaceful. The government has to be fair and equivalent. So that's kind of a setup. Something is not working. You get some kind of interest in some country I think Saddam was in, they torture all their people and kill people and then there's no hope for anybody. So in the Vedic time there were certain rules. The ruler, if he wasn't following the rules, he could be removed. He had to arbit. Ruler had to follow the Vedic rules. They had to be charitable, they had to be just. They weren't just like the Brahmanas who moved the he choose father because he was arrested. Right. Now if you get some tyrants, what's the process? Remove the people, do revolution. Revolution means, you know, very bloody guerrilla warfare, terrorism. When you see what we have today in the world and you see the relative of what the situation was before you, it was quite a piece of mind. There's a system, I forget what the official name of that. It's called technical word in English where the monarch, he passes on to the eldest son. There's no eldest son. How it passes on his faults. So it seems that that quote which was used millions of years ago in the time of Krittuvaras, it's still followed within the lightning. There's no son and it becomes queen, there's a son and it becomes the sun. So you have Charles and Roman following that same system. But then in those days they would divide up. There'll be emperor and then they would give different parts of the world to other of the family members to rule over. And that way things were being managed. They were all subordinate to the empire Chaitanya. In the Bhakti Ratnakar it describes how all the books of Chaitanya pastimes were stolen by this king. King, his name was. And when in the details, Shrinivasacharya is looking everywhere for the books that we said go see the king. So he went to see the king to find his books.
And then.
But there's a king, you know, Vikram Maharaj, he had a. He was. His kingdom was very poor kingdom, mostly forests, not so much agriculture, industry anyway, so he didn't have so much income. He was a poor king relative to other kings. He had more agricultural land or mineral wealth or something. So he augmented his purse by sending out the thieves. He had secret police that were actually put to steal from the past. Travelers pass into his kingdom and when they come to him, they get a police complaint that there's a thief, very sympathetic and said, look into it. Lose your address, find anything. We'll Tell you all about it.
Because.
Actually that gives her a state m night m16 whatever secret police were being put on this task. So in this way some astrologer had told him that some priceless treasure was being taken on the road to his kingdom. There's no protection, a few guards and a few.
Nothing.
You know a priceless this treasure is that it's worth more than they said it here. It's so priceless it's worth more than diamonds, jewelries and jewels. It's like. So the king said wow, this must be like crown jewel. Like diamonds as big as God, you know, rugby balls or something. And so he called his most trusted secret service guys police and he made you don't open up the box, you just bring it right to me and I give each of you a thousand gold coins which is huge, you know, I love you that much. I had the whole thing burned out. Brought the treasure there. He put it in his treasure house. Gave all them the remuneration for their undercover jam. So when they had gone there.
Shri.
Mahsacharya and Shamanada Pandit and the Rajan Dads Kakar were with the books. They went sleeping that night and there was a couple guards that was given by the Marathpur Maharashtra king of Barak were they were also asleep. So there was nothing. This came, took the box away. There was no fight or anything. It was really easy job for them. They came and gave it and said I take a candy from a baby. But when the chariots woke up early in the morning to do their job, the books were gone. They were freaking out. Looked everywhere. Asked the guards with him who was sleeping. They're hitting their heads against the trees and rolling in the ground. What are your charts going to think? What's all these great devoted things are priceless. They're the original copies. There was no copy. The originals handwritten text. There's no like you know, computer printouts or something. And these were going to be taken. They were retaken to be copied so that the way you preserve the books. And we have many people hand copied them and that way they weren't distributed. He said no, no, no, where are the books? And they're just going man Sri Wavsacharya. He told them look, if you go to your places and I was the one entrusted by the article in the beauty. Let me search them out. Then he went and searched out.
Good, thanks.
Went to see the king when he was every day the king would have a Bhagavatam class in the afternoon. So Shri Bhagava sat down in the assembly and he was having his Bhagavatam class. It was a total speculation. The person was Karma Kanna Ganakhanda. But there was zero Bhakti. And that was so horrible. His explanation that the Shrinivas was feeling sick during the whole path. He looked at me, looked into. So the king said, what's wrong with you? You don't like my guru's plans making all these funny faces. He said, well, this class, the Bible time was great. But his explanation I would have studied didn't make me feel good. Oh really? Okay, we want you to give a class. When we don't feel good, then you're going to be decapitated for your offense to our guru. You better give a good class, a good match. The kind of pressure giving a class. Would you like to give a life and death class? Mahshrini Vasacharya was given the time of Acharya and Bernard because he was really Acharya, he was a very expert language on plants. So he gave a wonderful class. And as a result the king, he thought well, the king when he had his books, he put them in his treasury. He opened up the parts, was afraid that if my police see it, they may tell me to take all these jewels. So you want anybody to see he opens up the box. Book books. What are these books? Those are really priceless, Jew Sam. These are some kind of religious books. I've stolen literary jewels. Literary priceless treasures from Sun Wu called back the police. What is this books here? Who did you take it from? Well, there were actually three Byishnavas with you. Oh no, I was holding the books with the same. Can I go to hell for sure now I was stealing from all these rich businessmen, you know, giving to the people of my poor country. But now I've stolen from some saints. I'm rather than rice daughters and know you finish find them, you got to give them back your books. I don't let anybody know, but didn't know that I stole the books. It was a whole, you know, really original thing. How to get the books back to the origin owners. And nobody knows that the books were stolen by many people. So when he heard the Shimmi Raja Chakra, this amazing class. Never heard such a class before. It was about Krishna Bhagavatam about Krishna, about Bhakti, devotional service. All these things they never heard about before in the Bible. Tell me, is there a teacher would focus on totally other things. So then he thought maybe he's the.
Person.
So then after the guy said very grateful. I would like to talk with you in private. So nobody knew what's going to happen. Seem to be with private. So then I came to him behind in private. And he said, who are you? Then he gives this explanation. How the supreme personality of Gandhi of Archer Krishna descended into this world as Sachi Sutra as Lord Chitandra, another Greek God. And how he disseminated. Disseminated the mercy love of Krishna all over India. And how the Upan Sanatana who would love your Kasha and Sabir Malik, the prime minister and the finance minister of the emperor who's named Shah. How they had and many other great saintly people and had gotten the mercy of Lord Shaitan. They were writing in ancient texts. So like somewhere and then they came up. I thought those people were crazy. They were the most powerful people in the entire empire of the living emperor amidst they ran the whole thing. IFR didn't do anything. He was out hunting Rupin Sanatan. Saladin Goswami was the prime minister without voting. Anyway, look at him. After three years in Capitol. He was so good that the emperor was totally happy. In fact, when he wanted to leave the arrest. That's how popular he can't leave. You have to stay. I want to leave. You ever seen that in English? I want to leave. Oh, you must stay. There was one king avenger. He was a very. But so this king he was saying I used to have to go and I had to bow down to them. I had to pay my taxes. So the group of Oswati he was. You know, he was the finance minister. So that's why I got to this. Because we gave a little glimpse like how it worked. Every king he would collect taxes from all his subjects. One third of whatever taxes he collected he had to give to the emperor. Two thirds he could use to run his kingdom. There was a system. Maybe 2/3among the sudden there was they can. So then the lords under his kings. There were lords and earls. And they also collected taxes. And they had to give to the king. They put out of the king got to give to emperors. And every year the emperor the kings had to give so many soldiers to the emperor. And the emperor was responsible to protect all the kings. He had a bigger army in case someone other from outside was attacking the empire. And it was too big an army for the local kings to defend against. Then the empire's main army would come there and protect. It was a system. So then Shinni was asked the chariot he was explaining all These statements that the king was mine. Then he has explained how all these books were written for all these great souls.
And that.
He was entrusted by the radical Bindabin. He gave the whole history. He was carrying these books to be copied and knowledgeably. And these books were stolen from him. The king, his hair is just sitting. Oh, he's the one. He's the owner. When he fell at Shunimas Acharya's feet and grabbed his feet, I took the books.
I took him.
Please forgive me. Please forgive me. Take me as your disciple and forgive me for all my offenses. Because the Guru always forgiving the offenses of that disciple. So he knew that he had to become the disciple. Srinivasani can forgive him blessing him so much. David was really a great Acharya to hearing this class. But SHRINIVAS in the U.S. i mean, you know, impressed that right now in the Father the King wants to be my disciple. He was the. Let me show me the books. I've been all there. Show me the books. Let me see. So he took to the treasure house and there saw this, the box. He said how excited he was. And then the box was opened and he saw that somehow Chanorita had come to the top. When they packed it, they put it in the bottom. When they open it, it comes to the top. So that's always.
Used.
Chaitanya Chenvira is like the cream of the Chikshani Mahat with these Guru juice. I mean, we cannot begin to imagine how relieved Shrinivas Acharya was when we saw those books. Because by that time the news had already reached Vrindavan and all the Acharyas in Vrindava. Later the books were stolen. They were not eating, they were sleeping. They were like completely delirious. Because those books were a lifeline. They were the life and soul of all of the wounds. And when they were stolen, it was just like devastating friends. Like imagine no Chaitanya cherry, no nectar of devotion or the speaker. I know we had Bhagavana readas. And so devotees they were. When he saw those books, it was like they gave life. Everybody but those quickly got. Somehow the books were recovered. So the king said, look, you don't need to go to Navalgift to copy the books. I will bring pundits here and make a copy here. I'll finance the whole thing. It's like a service. But actually this king, he got liberated. He got finally. So a big thing though that King's guru, he had to be a Vihasta and Chinna Mahastacharya was not. I can't see what's handling by the.
Watch.
Supposed to end the quarter too. So he didn't know what to do. So he discussed with. At that time all the senior devotees were already gone from the world. But they're worth the Narahabi Thakur. And he asked him whether he should even say guru, senior Raish. He said, should I become the king's guru or not? If I become king's guru, I have to be married. Because king's guru has to advise the king like what we tell people sometimes talk to a senior Vihasta who's not Vihast. But the king can't go out and ask somebody else. He can only ask his guru. He only tells his intimate personal problems to his guru. So the guru has to be able to hear all the problems even after a xx. Whatever problem he has, he has to be able to hear that and do a culture.
So.
Therefore you have to be rehasmed so that you can.
Do it. You're not going to.
So that's why Shrinivasacharya got married. But he spent only about four months at his house and eight months, six months to his palace. So that's another interesting thing happened in the history afterwards. Because you see, like when just before the British came, the kingdoms in India started to get weaker. The empires were starting to crumble, the Mughals were losing their control. And at that time there was a guy called Bhaskar Pandit and.
He was.
A Maharashtrian thief, like a dagger. He wasn't a royal family or anything, but he had gradually amassed an army of 10,000 people. So he would go and conquer kingdoms, but he just looted and steal from the people. And he wasn't just somebody like governing. He wasn't, it was just, it was uncivilized. He would conquer over, then he'd take over some kingdoms. So it was. The empire wasn't able to defend against. The empire was finished, end of its thing. So the kings were on their own, more or less. So they weren't. So this Bhaskar Panda, he said they weren't too near Katwa and he just looted all the Brahmin villages. They hated Brahmin culture, envious of Brahmanas, lived even like that, hated by Shnavas. So it said that. So you kind of see how empires used to work and how you need a strong emperor to keep. It was a really interesting pastime that.
This.
This was the 13th generation. I don't know how many generations. It was something like 13 generations just before the British came. So already they had cannons. Cannons were already primitively weaponry at that time. It was two, 300 years ago. And amazing thing happened was many times this Bhaskar pandit was attacking the kingdom of this Waha Vishnu for and by that time there were 13 Radhakrishna temples. Because after the initiation of the Maharaja by Shrinivajacharya every subsequent king also got initiated as the Gauria Vaishnava. Each one built their own Radhakrishna temple And there's beautiful terracotta artistic Radhakrishna temples there. But now all the temples because the kings also during the British rule the kings are doing the. I don't know what British ruler later during the after that somehow all the temples now I don't know the history exactly how they became. But the kings don't have any more kingdom, they don't have any more money. But they are the official owners of these temples. So all the deities are packed up in one temple because they can't do the worship in 13. But there's a most amazing deity of Srinivasachary of Gorkit ever seen. I mean these deities Gordon Thai they're really huge and they're very healthy. I mean very strong like that. Sometimes you see very effeminate kind of. These are very strong Gura Natang beautiful lotus eyes. I was just amazed. One of those contemporary dark there's no end. It's the government that calls them Almightiness. They don't nobody can touch them because they're protected monuments, historical monuments. But they don't give any money. Outside on the monument you get these huge halogen lights Inside they got a little 25 watt boat. So the deus is no light but in a minute he puts a light there. Wow. So many beautiful views of Lord.
Then.
Beautiful Radhakrishnadevi. And there's one named Radhakrishnadevi I think Radha Madan Mohan who was partially worshipped by Shri Macharia and this lava the king at this time when Bhaskar Panda he was attacking he said he was approaching. And so the king said let the whole kingdom for one day not fight. Let everybody chant for 24 hours hare ka we'll just do Hare Krishna chanting get the empowerment and we'll go and fight. But that was weird because this Bhaskar Panda he was on a chanti he didn't follow. He was like a yavana something he did when he saw all these people are not going to fight me, okay? We're attacking them right now in the night we're just to go and attack them. Because the kings of no one should listen. I so he got his whole, he moved it up and the next day was supposed to be the official attacking day. Instead they attacked at midnight when all the people were chanting kirtan autonomic country. And then the king was as a midnight all of a sudden he heard.
This.
Just like you know, huge, you know, cannon fire one after another. And he said who's fighting? I told nobody's supposed to lift any arms. Nobody knew. And there was this wow, this immense. So many cannons blowing off one after another after another. And then finally there was like silence. He sent out his spies. What's going on? What happened? And they went out and they saw these like red hot two cannons lying on the ground. And there was an old guy there, he said well what happened? I said well Madan Mohan came out the bili came out the took this immense form. He was holding the two cannons, one under each arm and their boom boom, boom boom. They're going off like an. And they totally wiped out the entire army of the demon. You know, lost their pundit. And then he went back, he went left. They told the king of kings, how is it possible? The dee went and they went out and they saw these cannons and the can, it was so hot, you know and they don't hang. Those are all like muzzle loaded can, you know, they don't shoot like, you know, this is going off like gambling. It takes time to load. And they saw the entire army of the Bhaskarpana was massacred, just completely wiped out. They said they had killed so many ravanas and tortured and stolen. So the deity just wanted to personally get this one. So they went to the temple where the deity is and they went in deities, you know, standing there but his clothes are all covered with drug smoke, pores, sulphur smoke. And they still have the cannon that was allegedly the baby helmets there on the screen. I thought from India perspective see what the balance kind of in the Basmat years where empires and garage reached. Then the British of course came in after that and the British Empire was there, the British Raj and now we have democracy around the world. So but this time King Vijtasva who was given the name Antargan because he could see when he was invisible. So then he got the blessing. He could become visible or invisible like the demigods. He didn't need a spice if he didn't want to be. He could just turn invisible, walk around, check out him. So he was a pretty amazing personality. Not too many kings to get out of this ability to become invisible.
So.
Obviously he was such an honest person. He was such a good person that when Indra was feeling he could see Indra he had that mystical power to see that what we see living as who are celestial beings. So that this thing he must pure person so that you can get more. Not only can you see me invisible, you can become invisible also. So that's part of the history of our world and the history of Lord Chaitanyans, the socialists powers Governor Safari went to that place one year when we were doing gormando booming.
For.
All of the boys who are hugging the can seeing the Deedi. There's a lot of amazing pastimes about the Deedee.
The Raymond.
Anybody has any questions? I think what we should do Arika is fellow is that we also descendants. We're disciplined descendants of Srila Prabhupada. We have also responsibility when we cooperate with our older godbrothers and God sisters or uncles. We all everybody has a responsibility to spread ka consciousness. It's like the Chetyas. They have to rule a village. We have to preach even if it's a Bhakti Riksha group or if it's a Namhat group or if it's some book distribution, some form of preaching. We're all coming in a dynasty of teachers. We have to help to spread this advent movement. So that's our what's the word? That's our what's the word I'm looking for our heritage and our obligation to our forefathers in our dynasties. We're coming on the civic banks to were disciples in India like if I in the west. They don't accept that in India sometimes you put father's name. So I put Guru Gita, my guru father Bhakidanta. So you know, he's my father. And I accept that Sannyasi having a father as her guru. May I accept that that's not all. And all of us we are disciplined descendants from Prabhupada and our great illustrious figures and charities. So we have a certain obligation. We want to create a spiritual empire. How the material empires work out and how they manage this disturbed world. But spiritually implantable that spiritually the whole world can become peaceful through the influence of what's temporary person. We put our faith in Krishna. And somehow Krishna he empowers his devotees in different ways and somehow will of the Lord. Everyone is entitled to think that we should take some responsibility for our guru, for Brahman. Maybe a hassle, maybe difficult, maybe something austere. Maybe faithless tasks. But if you don't take any responsibilities then what are we here for? What are we existing for? We need to cooperate and help the Prashantic conference movement. Whether it's responsibility for seeing the temple room screen or whether it's for the book table or whether it's Prashad distribution or foundation development. Book distribution, whatever it may be the topic of responsibility some tasks we should take that we can also contribute for the spreading of Krishna Kant. Whether it's the dance environmental, the functions. You want to contribute something to furthering the Krishna consciousness. That's right. The place you are going. That's a humble offer. I recommend take responsibility and to go to the airport.
Ram Honeypoom Sam Ram Ram. So Sam Ram. Sam Ram Ram Ram. Foreign Sa.
Ra.
Sa it.
This assignment is more back support.
Your.
Bath to do morning duties. They're all fired up. It's going to be bath capture.
Today.
God wanted to see the ceremony India so many people come to the temple. We have Russian healthy again. And today he's also going on attorney the OG grand He was all these days alone with his counselors. She convinced her that they go and please the part of us are victorious.
He's coming. He's coming.
So the many different things happening famous Radhyatra many simultaneous levas. Then Krishna what's going on with life.
And.
That'S the one level. And then there's things like what's happening at the top of the dais. The greatest they had the opportunity to.
Worship.
Huge, very large. Maybe like 2 meters tall.
Almost.
Almost 2 meters W. So he wears very much. So they had to remove him from the altar by ramp and to move him down the stairways by adding cushions. The titans they are the descendants of the Samaras take care of the Lord from the day of the Samadhi. After the time the Lord has carried from the throne of the Raptor.
These.
Radiantas that come from Sabaras a caste that keeps themselves peace.
Because.
You all know the history is that before Jagannath was and that time the king of the Sahara should go and feed Mila Malava with fruits and rice.
So because.
The king he got.
From.
The Savar of.
Mercy.
Some of the Dietas were Brahman. So that movie was going on with. So how they moved the work that was also an interesting point. Around the world's waist you had a big silken double. So the way they moved along is somebody took the shoulders some kind of speaks and they were as they took it past with the outside Shoulder forward and the feet and shoulders and over his head. We have a big Picasso.
In front.
We have 100, 200 Brahmanas fixing each other. Who are standing with white in front of them. They have another couple hundred 100 each side. Playing on with the sticks all at the same time. All the things that 200 people hitting like that really hard. Really intense attitude.
It's like.
A king came moving. As the king of the universe. The first power comes. I was a president in 1970 for their rocket. Since then I've been going the capital. My experience of 30 years ago.
Never forget.
Up to his right.
There'S.
A big ramp going up to it.
Again.
Like we have small again. We can kind of lift them up, carry them up a stairway. But here they also have to. They have ropes around those ways behind them. They're also pulling them up.
The swam.
As he was going up. He got about halfway up the ramp. Huge rim, maybe 7 meters, 6 meters wide. And there was a huge cry.
That.
Actually before they go, I forgot one thing is the Sudarshan chakra comes in, goes around the. So then the next step is king photographer comes. He cleans the robe with a groove as a golden Rajasthan. He's sitting in a royal club. He has so many servants.
Sa.
Blessing for Christianity. It's a big thing, you know. I mean, for many people sweeping the Lord is like belief that dignity.
For.
Many people the sweet dignity. So he wants to speak of a king. We asked once the vice president of India. He came to our function as president of Rajakshana. And then we asked him. And the president asked him. This is the judicial and the king 48 I'll asleep the Roman president to impress the president to speak. The vice president is. We are a republic.
Democracy.
I will not follow a king. I am a demon, perfect person. I will not sweep the Lord. We choose to see the royal was a big shock. Now India is a democracy. Minister of Christian government For the people, by the people and of the people. And therefore we reg the people. Because the people now are the kings. They are the rulers with their wolves. We request all the people and we request the vice president as the leading. As the leader of the of people. He should do first. But he swept the rock for one microsecond. Refuses to sweep rope before God. And the king of this. Their culture is that Jagannath is the ruler and they are his servants. So they never have a bigger talent. Their palaces are modest.
Nak.
So Guru wants to see that the body is serving Krishna.
So.
This little service back to us at least around. So there the rock towers over all the buildings. Very beautiful. Very.
So.
Important. Thanks. Nay Hindi mentions that in the garden. So like this the Leela or J coming to Italy. It's also expansion of CH would bring.
Them under.
This past time moves to the crowds of people also divine mercy as a favorable. And then the people even watch Iran. They also get in my appreciating.
Wood.
Start a festival Poland this year they started a very big lunch went throughout the crowds of humans. Kind of a domestic environment is one.
Of the most.
Passion and goodness also. But you know the same people not very much.
But here and they're coming.
