20031121 || Vaiṣṇava Seminar || BV Manoṛ, UK #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

A recorded Vaishnava seminar at Bhaktivedanta Manor (YouTube upload) featuring multiple speakers. The chunk contains short stage banter and announcements, extended devotional storytelling about Krishna, the Gopis, Udava, and Lord Chaitanya, and numerous anecdotes about deities and their miracles. Community-oriented material appears (children's drawing competition, prizes, youth festival notes) and practical guidance on deity worship and devotional mood. The speakers emphasize the living presence of deities, Prana Pratishta events, and the importance of devotion, kirtan, and care for temple deities.
Is going to listen to you sing afterwards.
Okay.
So you must sing nicely.
You having a good time here?
Yes.
Everybody's happy?
Yes.
Thank you very much for organizing program for the children.
Is a 1, 2, 3.
Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hari Rama Rama Hare Sam Personality of Godhead. The heart is plants of all mundane contamination about Ka consciousness like Prabhupada. One of my grandma mentioned our life members. I remember he always insisted that when anybody gave us a donation, we should give them something in reciprocation. Some books, some gifts. When someone became a life patron member, we would give them so many books. Subscription to the bank number one.
What do you see at the moment the main problem with the youth and all that? It's very difficult to keep them motivated. Yeah, they're like roller coaster rides. Sometimes they're high up there. So much accuracy. Then they disappear. And then now we have a monthly program. What they have in Chaupath we call it excursion. They have the youth festival there. And somehow initially the support was good. Then that also dwindled. In this way we find the support or the excitement of the youth are so fluctuating and it's difficult to give them. So we don't know where we belong. And now also there's a change we find at least in Jagannah Mandarin. Initially they use Jagram Mandy were teenagers.
Now.
They don't want how much for salad, but cook also. And they cook a huge feast. And apparently they're getting a lot of students. But that's a filling I got. It was more.
You can't feel the cable so much.
Some of them churn butter while the others pick flowers to make garlands.
Krishna.
Hare Krishna. Krishna.
Krishna.
Hare Krishna.
Kri.
Hare Rama Ra.
After Krishna had gone away to Madura, the Gopis came every day early in the morning to visit Mother Yosodha. They knew how sad Nanda Maharaj and mother Yasoda were. When Krishna left Vrindava at the door, he wondered what is this? Whose chariot is this? Has Akrura come again already he has taken our beloved Krishna. What could he want us to do now? While they were whispering, Udhava came out. When the Gopis saw Udava, they knew he was a great devotee of Krishna. Because he looked very similar to Krishna. This boy looks just like Krishna. Who could it be? He has the same lotus petal eyes, the same raised nose and a beautiful dark face. And is smiling in the same way. He even dresses in the same way. Where has he come from? The Gopis were very excited. Udava had brought a letter from Krishna. They called him over to a quiet place so that they could sit down and talk. They began talking about Krishna's pastimes. When he was a small boy.
One.
Of the Gopis Srimadi Radharani was thinking of Krishna.
Oh Bombali, you like to drink honey from flowers. I see the red cocom powder on your moustache from Krishna's flower garland. Have you come to tell me of Krishna? My dear bumblebee, Are you trying to touch my feet? Let me warn you, don't you dare touch me. We love Krishna so much, but then he just left us here to sorrow. You foolish bumblebee. Not seeing our Krishna here, whatever you say will be all stories to us. Krishna's now in the city. He's better known as a friend of Arjuna. He has definitely made you a girlfriend. I'm sure they are all very happy. Go there and sing about Krishna. He left our families, husbands and children only for Krishna. But he. He left us for lost and did not even come back to Indawan. There was no way there. But here's the problem. Normally, although it was not very nice of him to just go away like that, we just stopped thinking about every day be prayed, someday our beloved Krishna will come back. We're only getting sadder and sadder every day. He's not here with us. You foolish bumblebee, do not sing our Krishna here. I cannot beg to hear his name being mentioned. Go away. Stay away from me. You cruel creature. Maybe even practiced up Krishna taiyou to hear about him. Oh bumblebee. Oh please, come on. Where are you, bumblebee? Oh bumblebee. Oh, there you are. Never mind. Forget about the things I said just now. Now please tell me how Krishna is doing in Mantura. Does he still remember us? Do you ever think Krishna will ever come back? He'll put his arms around us again. How very wonderful. Devotee to the supreme personality of her head. I am carrying a letter to you all. My dear Gopis, my dear friends, I have never been away from any of you at any time. I can never leave you. All of you loved me so much from the very beginning. My dear Gopis, while I am in Madura, you will always be thinking of me more and more. Because you love me so much and because you are always thinking of me, I am always there within your hearts.
Mudaba was astonished to see how much the Lokis loved Krishna. To Madhura to tell Krishna how dearly the Gopis in Vrindavan miss him, carrying along with him a Letter from the Gopis to Krishna Radha Rani Srinamai at Radharani Sri Nithya at the Bumblebee Krishna Karan at Udava Soma as the first Gopi Uma second Gopi Shamini third Gopi Ahalia fourth Gopi Krishna's voice Nikhil.

Thank you. Ram Sa Sam Sum Lord Chaitanya had was asked by devotees that how you will come back again. It's kind of interesting because so many Christians have the second coming of Jesus. So they'll be back. He was a writer in India, respected to some extent. Not fully. His son was one of our devotees. Kind of like well wishers. And this writer, he was saying that that prediction was actually what Chitanya. But anyway, that's side to the song. We can say what actually meant so they asked Lord Chaitanya something like that and he said that worshipable jail. So. So devotees are getting the mercy of Lord Chaitanya's association through his holy Gaines and also through his deities. But to this year the fact that there's someone who wants to hear the class tonight. So the Panchatava for the main temple, the big temple in Mayapur are going to be manifested, are going to manifest but something very momentous and historical for iskcon. Many years ago when we put the Sudarshan Chakra on the temple of Mayapur then Rabindra wrote an article and thought it was significant that the Chakra would protect ISKCON and but some devotee the fact that the Lord Chaitanya is going to appear with the Panchatantva that Prabhupada had ordered to be established life size Panchatantra. All the deities have been cast and they're in the final finishing work and they're going to be sent up to Mayapur in a couple weeks for the final final touch. Up on February 23rd there will be the Prana Pratishta. So this is such a incarnation of Loy Chetan. It will be there present all the Panchatar, all the associates. So it's a very momentous occasion and an opportunity for us to get the mercy of the Panchata the the Lord as the Deevi. We're so fortunate. This Bhaktivedanta Menor Athirta I was reading I used to open some magazine and there was an article. I can't even remember right now what the article was but something about it was an Indian magazine. They had a whole article about Indians in the UK and their culture or something and it mentioned how. Or maybe it was about something else. It wasn't a devotional thing, it was like political. But somehow in this article it mentioned that the mentioned the Bhaktivedanta Mena. It mentioned one other Hindu temple and mentioned also Bhaktivedanta Manor as places where large numbers of Indians and Hindus gather together in the UK that is not just Sunnah. Even the materialists are seeing importance of the manner and because Krishna is present here and their presence makes this a Tirtha. I was reading one of the Puranas. It says that if. If a Devi is installed by a half qualified Brahmin then or different levels of Brahmins if an ordinary Brahmin installs it, if it's installed by Indra Deva or installed by Lord Brahma that Sabha is installed by a Pure devotee.
That.
Has affect where Brahma is all over the universe, period of lobby, even beyond the universe or if it's self manifested, it's like Shaligram Shiva that's even beyond the universe. So these deities are called by Shiva Kalba because we had the 25th 30th anniversary this year which I attended earlier. So ladies had so much that is so powerful. They have so much to thank because first they installed the Prabhupada. So we can't underestimate the presence of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in his deity form. And of all the lordships Govindas Pandit was his incarnation or reincarnation of. He's a Subal Saka in Krishna. The other day came into Gorlila as Gori Das Pandhi and he lived in a place called Ambika Kauna on the side of the Ganges. So Lord Chaitanyananda went there to visit him and they were. He was giving them prasadam and everything. And then they said we had to go. And he said, I can't. You know, it's not really fair. You're my friend and I can't live without you. You should stay here. I said, how we can stay. We have to listen on the devotees. We can't just stay here. It's a bit of what to do. I can't live without you. Then Gori Das said, look, give me a pair of deities. Come on, how about we're devotees. How can we have deities made of us? Just don't give me all this, I know who you are and I want a set of deities if you're not staying here. So at least give me a set of deities and let people think whatever they're going to think anyway. Not going to know what's going on here so much so. So they finally. And he kept pushing, okay, have a certain deities made. And these deities are almost life size. They may be little, they're very big. I didn't measure them. At least they're quite tall. They're over six feet tall. And finally the deities are made. Then Horchatandi says, okay, so now you have your devious. They're not different from us. So you stay worship. We're going up. So then Gorinda said, well, so these DNAs are not different from you, right? So you stay, let the deities go there. Lord Shaita said, all right. And then he raised his hand up, Nichinanda raised it and we came with him like the daily. So we did some wooden and the deities start Moving. And they start walking away. No, no, no, no. He ran after the moving lords and said, no, no, you stay. Let them go. They said, all right, raised their hand. They became one. The deviants became moving and then started walking away, going back and forth. He couldn't remember who was who anymore. So I said, okay, you win. And so then he installed his deities in a temple. There's still a temple there, a very nice temple. Who's seen it? Anyone else? But now you go to see the deities, and every few minutes they close the curtain. If he said, I want to have dark shadow, well, this is our rule here. They said, why such a rule? They said, well, there's a history. So that Gari Das pandit had a disciple called Hiday Ananda Das and Hirayananda, he decided that on Gora Purnima, it would be good to have a nice festival for Lord Chaitanya. Maybe this was after the disappearance of Lord Chaitana. I'm not sure exactly the time. So he talked to local people and said, on Gor Purnima day before, you should bring Rajah Bolga will cook a big feast for lunch. At time you have a festival. So then Gorponi Medea, all these villagers started showing up with bulla carts filled with boga rice, yogurt, fruits, vegetables, milk, sugar, everything, boar. And what's happening here? Oh, we're going to have a festival for Lord Caitanya's appearance. Why didn't you tell me? Why are you doing all this without even discussing with me? He was inside, really happy that the disciple actually came up with a nice plan. But he wasn't happy that it was not discussed with him first. So he said, no festival. So Hida Namdi once happened again to say to any Japan, what can he do? Gauru said, no festival. If he didn't ask permission to blew it. And all these villagers come with these bullock tons of boga. And Gauri Das said, well, this is not very good. All the boga is going to go bad. So then he calls, okay, you can have the festival in the future. You got to ask. And so they went back and started a big kirtan and had devotees and ladies who were cooking and different preparations were being made. So while the kirtan was going on, then it became time for offering the Raj bog. So Gauri Das came out with the raj's bow plate of the lunch plate offering. And he looked in the temple room and the deities were gone. He said, oh, no, you're cheating. You told me you're going to stay with me. Naya went off. He got like petrified because out of love he became mad. Both angry, mad and mad in ecstasy, separation. He picked a stick up and we're looking where they went. They got to come back in my temple right now. They can't treat me like this. It's an unusual relationship with the Lord, right? Going after him with a stick can't explain this to my bodies, I guess. But if you know the Sakya Rasa friendship. They don't think the Lord is the superior. They think he's a friend. He really felt cheated. And the Lord promised him he'd stay with him. And he somehow disappeared from the temple. He thought he would run off on me. He's looking. He looked and he saw that in some invisible form the deities were dancing with the kirtan party. They're having such an ecstatic kirtan. Everybody were dancing. So he went running with a stick. And he's shouting, get back in the temple. You promised you're going to stay with me. Now you're running off. Next thing you're going to leave me. And when they saw him coming with a stick, so angry, you know, they went and hid in the heart of Hridayananda. Since then he became known as Hidaya Caitanya. And he wants to get back in the temple. So they ran out of his heart, ran back to the temple and he was scolding them. Don't you treat me like this. You promised you're going to stay with me. How can I live without you? I have to serve you if you deprive me from this. You know, like so many things. And it's just like really unique relationship, right? Not the normal like Lakshmi Narayan, respectful of us, very demanding type of love. Love and friendship. So then he put the offering and offered them their lunch. So after that he gave the order that you don't let people have Darshan too long. In case the Lord gets a tattoo, some devotee again wants to run off. They keep closing and opening the door. So these deities. You can see how the Lord is not different from the deity. This is non different root. I'm shaking. I mean the deity stayed in the temple. He came back. I was thinking, we go to see Sakshi Gopal in Orissa. And it shows the great devotion and glories of this young Brahmin boy. And even the elderly Brahmin who they stood witness for. The young Brahmin that wanted to save the Dharma on the elderly Brahmin. And I was thinking from the Point of view. What about the people in Vrindavan? They went to their temple one day and the deity was gone. He walked off. How they must have felt good. We should never take the devious for granted. Never think that they're stone or wood or metal. They're an incarnation of the Lord. They're there to receive my service. So we appreciate such nice service being offered here. Nice sweets and nice clothing, nice decorations, recent improvements, some mascaras on the temple room. The lady did altar very nice. Because to devotees they consider that you want to place the transcendental senses of the Lord. He also has senses that are transcendental. So still the testimonies offer, fans offer articles. Mayavadis can't understand. See, the Lord is something personal. But we know that from the Brahma Samhita, Sakalindriya, Vritti Manti all the different senses can do the activities of the other. So he could see with his nose, hear with his eyes or anything his fingertips. But he has senses. And devotees want to please the Lord's transcendental senses. That's how we express our devotion. The Lord actually appreciates the mood of the devotee. Not so much, doesn't need the offerings as such. But it's the mood of devotion love that the devotees do the service that's so much important. You know the funny story where there was the Grihasta Pujari and his wife and they were preparing a boga for the Lord in the kitchen. The Lord appears in the kitchen, said, what do you have? Give me the offering. Take it directly. Didn't know what to do. They handed him the banana and he was eating. And they said, actually by accident, they peeled the banana and take out the banana head. And the people. He's eating the peel and look, it looks so funny. Now the Lord's eating the banana peel. Oh no. Here we gave you the wrong thing. Take the banana. And he said, for me it's not really the banana or the peel. Your enthusiasm that served me, your mood of love and enthusiasm that was pleasing to me. So Ka has a name. It's called Bhava Grahi Janarda. He is the form of the Lord who accepts the Bhav of the devotee, accepts their mood, their loving sentiments. So in that way the Lord is so merciful. We have this opportunity to offer worship. And the Lord is accepting this desire the devotees to please the Lord. In my Apura, one lady was bringing mangoes to Lord Nirshingadev. And then she thought, any of these are ordinary mangoes. Maybe he doesn't like mangoes. So she didn't get it. Finally. Then that night nursing Ad came in a dream and said, I like mangoes. Why didn't you give me the mangoes? Next day she came with the box of mango, the Pujari. So this thing happened. What should I do? Okay, give me the mango. We offered. We offered the mangoes to Nasingadeva. There's Nishingadeva. I don't know if you noticed, he has no teeth. Didn't notice before. He just had kind of silver teeth. But some doctors from the hospital, from the Chaupathi temple, that Bhaktivedanta hospital. Or maybe they're from that community. I don't know if they're in the hospital. They're dentists. They came and they made dentures for Lord Machinya Dev. But they made them exactly, took pictures. They had a dozen pictures of lion teeth. And they made the dentures in the shape of lion teeth and put them ashing a day as well. Some of them are actually white artificial teeth. Then actually put some molars in. And I showed the picture. So nuns don't have those kind of molars. So they adjusted it. She has no teeth. I hope he likes them. But one time the deities gave the Lord new eyes. He had red eyes. And someone donated green eyes. And he put green eyes. Then there was a devotee who was going blind. And she was praying to Nasikadev that this may be the last time I can see you. I'm losing my eyesight. And then the night that she had a dream from Nasinyadeva said that they took away my red eyes. I like red eyes. And they put these green eyes. If you have them put back my red eyes, I'll give you back your eyesight. So she went to the Pujari, somewhat anxious, you know, and said this. And so then they said, okay, why not? So we have a dream like that. Why not? No reason to have green light. Definitely that particular form of Nadeva is very angry. He just came out of the column looking to protect Prahlat. So it seemed appropriate he should have red eyes. So then we did a ceremony of new Yagya. A little purification put in the red eyes. And after that the lady regained her eyesight. You can see okay a lot of amazing things. And that the Shinga Chatra does see the Pujaris telling pastime like this for about two hours. And the Jagannath deities pastimes goes on for there's no limit. Hours is maybe 6 hours of pastimes I can say it was. However you get the other room. Because those deities have been around for 500 years and since their very inception doing miracles. Sounds very. I don't know here. If ever people record like the miracles that the devotees do. I mean, that the deities do. I don't know if anybody shares things with the Pujaris. He said one child is with us. Something granted, with the child in the hospital, things happen. It's good for the community. They hear, they inspire. How the deities are very active. Many times people they might not share, we don't know. Someone comes and prays for something and then something happens. So sukta and people get them to realize that actually Ka is there. He does reciprocate with our parents. He reciprocates with us, with the devotees, the love and the devotion. Of course, some people Krishna is not an order supplier. So it doesn't like that every time he gives exactly what we want, it may happen in different ways. There was a mother who. Her son got cancer. Just a small boy, 10 years old. They want to take her to the hospital when he was going to be operated. And she said, what can I do in the hospital? I'll just take her and pray to the Lord, right? She was praying and then the doctor went in there and operated to take out the tumor. And it's like he had an X ray showing the tumor. When he operated, he came out and everyone said so was the successful operation. I don't understand. I have talked to the English. You know what they call it? Council of surgeons or whatever. Council, association, guild or whatever. And why look it here? It shows on the egg. Say that there's a tumor. When I opened up and operated, there was no more tumor. He's completely healthy. How is this possible? How is this medically possible? We all knew how it was possible. But he didn't understand how it was possible. Defying science.
So.
That'S. We actually started chanting a 24 kirtan at that time for that boy. So we never stopped since then we kept it and we started. Now we have 224 kirtan. One is kirtan japa class some form of. And that's in the main town. Another is that the Bhajan Kuti. We just have Hare ka, 10,000 year Akhandana and non stop Hare Krishna chanting. So sometimes this young boy was shocked. Doctor said he was going to die. Malignant tumor, everything. It's gone healthy. So these are external things. What's really important? Of course, what's much More difficult than curing some material disease is to cure material Maya disease. The Bhava Rog that makes us identify with the body and keeps us in this material world. And that the Lord is doing so many times we may not be aware of it and how the deities are liberating so many people from this material contamination. So that we can develop a relationship with the deities. They're incarnations of the Lord. We can also have a relationship with the holy Name. The holy name is also Ka in this form of sounds. So either visible or audible. Lord is the Lord. So Lord Caitanya appears in these forms after. So we still have Lord Chaitanya with us and the deities with us. Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna. Krishna Hare.
What are important things to keep in mind?
Always so many things. That's a question like that. I mean, our whole process is so many things telling us what we should do, what we shouldn't do. Avoid offenses, avoid association. Like what the Sham Rita gives us versus what not to do, what to do. Nectar and devotion is filled with Bruce and Dalmatian. But the essence is always remember Krishna, never forget it.
Casual. We don't have such high standards.
And.
One day, sometimes it's like, you know, you commit offences and tendency to get mechanical in the worship, etc. Sometimes it makes me wonder the deities, you know, in terms of. Because of the way the standard we're worshipping with.
So they're more like practice deities. They worship the deities almost like you worship a picture. Except in order to clothe them or do a little more types of worship. They have the deity. Some of our deity worship experts are not so happy with their. But Sri Prabhupada had his deities when he was a child, which were not installed. Of course, if you have faith and you worship them with faith, then they will also reciprocate. And what they do in some of the Adiri processes, when you don't have astrology, every morning you install a temporary installation with the avayamis and worship like a daily type of installation. Best to do if you have like clay DVs or a clay pot. Some people do that type of worship. But most people, they don't even do that. It seems to me more like a picture type of worship. But even in a picture, that's one of the forms that Ka can take. In Vrindavan, in Barsana, there's a temple where the deity is a pig photo. It's a Mayur, Mayuri temple, Vela temple. A blind devotee 400 years ago made a painting of a Pastime in Radhakrishna where they were dancing like peacocks. Although he's blind, he made this painting. It's a beautiful painting, very intricate. How can a blind person make a painting? This gained dictation from Krishna Maharaj and it was a beautiful painting. So that's another miracle. So they put the painting in sadeity. In the beginning, Prabhupada had a painting of Sadi herd of New York. And then Jagannath came walking through the door. So he had Jagannath. As much faith as you place in the deities. If you install the deities then you have to make an arrangement that they're always cared for. It's a permanent invitation. So that's too big a responsibility for many of you Hastas. But so otherwise you put some curtains when you can't worship properly. Close the curtain whenever they're open. Try to respect the deities. That way you train the children or the children that are there in that mood also the children can also be trained to worship the deity. Hence many positive points. Lord Chaitanya said that if somebody's a devotee who's not following strictly, who's not initiated and you respect them in the heart, maybe offer them folded hands if they respect him and they don't associate really intimately with him. If they're not following properly. Because you don't want to get contaminated. You don't want to get affected by that somebody's initiated or following. So then you're supposed to bow down to them, offer them Vaishnavanam, call them as Prabhu, somebody's spiritual master, a pure devotee. Then there's such a spiritual master. Then every time if it's Sannyasi. The first time you see a Sannyasi in the day basis called Sannyasis Maharash. If they're a spiritual master, then you call Gulu Mahara.
