2004 || Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 9.11.6-7 || Australia #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

A devotional lecture (recorded 2004) centered on the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam passage (9.11.6–7) and the idea of the supreme gift: God entering the heart (Krishna/Chaitanya) and dissipating ignorance. The speaker uses stories of Prahlada, Ramachandra, Ramanujacharya and local temple pastimes to illustrate that pure devotees (Brahmanas/Vaishnavas) refuse material benedictions and instead seek and distribute spiritual life (Krishna‑consciousness). The talk closes with practical advice and audience Q&A about surrender, devotional service, and maintaining devotional mood.
This is a supreme gift. This is a supreme gift. We do not need a material donation. O Lord, you are the master of the entire universe. What have you not given to us? You have entered the core of our hearts and dissipated the darkness of our ignorance by your repulsions. This is the supreme gift. We do not need a material donation. O Lord, you are the supreme personality of God and you have accepted the Brahmanas as your worshipable Deity. Your knowledge and memory are never disturbed by anxiety. You are the chief of all famous persons within this world and your lotus feet are worshiped by sages who are beyond the jurisdiction of punishment. O Lord Ramachandra, let us offer our respectful obeisances unto Youla Prabhupada Text 6 When Juba Maharaj was offered a benediction by the supreme Personality of God, him he replied, O my Lord, I am fully satisfied. I do not need any material benediction. Similarly, when Prahlada Maharaj was offered a benediction by Lord Narasimhadeva, he also refused to accept it and instead declared that devotees should not be like a Vanik, a mercantile man who gives something in exchange for some profit. One who becomes a devotee for some material prophet is not a pure devotee. Brahmanas are always enlightened by the Supreme Personality of Godhead within the heart. And because the Brahmanas and Vaishnavas are always directed by the Supreme Personality of Gana, they are not greedy for material wealth. What is absolutely necessary they possess, but they do not want an expanded kingdom. An example of this was given by Ramanadeva. I think as Brahmachari Lord Brahmanadeva wanted only three pieces of land, aspiring to possess more and more. For personal sense, gratification is simply ignorance. And this ignorance is conspicuous by its absence from the heart of a Brahmana or a Vaishnava. So this answer Bhakadanta Swami translation for text 67 purport protect 6 of chapter 11 canto 9 Srimad Bhagavatam Mahapuranam in the matter of Lord Ramachandra rules the world to hear the Brahmanas have revealed what they got from Lord Ramachandra. He entered the core of their hearts and dissipated the darkness of their ignorance. How many would like that? This is the special mercy of the Lord Krishna. Surya Sama, Mayahoyan Lakhar, Jahakrishna, Taha Maya Nahi Adhikar. Krishna is like the sun and Maya. The material illusion is like a darkness. Wherever there is Ka, there's no more nations, no more darkness. So sometimes People say they want to get rid of their ignorance first. Then they'll practice Ka consciousness. But actually Ka consciousness and bringing Ka in the heart is the solution to the darkness. Turning on the light takes away the darkness. Someone makes other arrangements and won't be as effectively simply turning on the light. The Ka, he enters into the heart of his pure devotee and he dissipates all the ignorance. This is what these great Brahmanas, Vaishnavas, who were performing the Yajna for Lord Rama, they were feeling. Therefore they gave back the kingdom to Ram to managers of Kshatriya. And they expressed that actually him having removed their imams was the supreme gift to give transcendental knowledge. That is the supreme gift. As also we want to give people the supreme gift. Why give them listening when we can give them the supreme gift? Sri Prabhupada was explaining how some groups are busy. Actually, the impersonal groups who believe that absolute truth is not a person, simply they're believing in the impersonal effulgence of the light. Because impersonal truth is very boring, not variegated. So they're not able to sustain so much interest in meditating on the impersonal truth. So let's say many times you see that they revert to mundane social activities. This is highly appreciated by the public. Because the public doesn't know what is a supreme gift. They think that, well, if we get some tangible material aid, a house, an education, some clothing, some food, this is great, so this I can appreciate. They may not appreciate like these Brahmanas did until they actually get purified. What is the wonderful nature of the supreme gift? Because they're conditioned like that. Srila Prabhupada mentioned that we need at least one organization that's giving out a supreme gift. One organization that's giving people Ka consciousness. Already so many in the name of serving Krishna, they're giving mundane material blessings, but they're not giving actually Krishna. The real point is that we want to develop our attention to Ka. That happens when we chant, when we chant the holy names and we get the mercy of the Lord's presence. Because the holy name of Krishna and Ka is not different. There are other, many other mantras, but that means, okay, so the mantras which are directly focused on Vishnu, these mantras have got more potency because they're transcendental. The 10 offenses to the holy name which I mentioned in the Puranas also explain that there are so many things chanting. Then that also creates some contamination, some offense. If we think that the names of any of the other of the non Vishnu deities, even Shiva or Durga or to speak of others are equal or independent of the name of Krishna. But that becomes an authenticity. You don't want to just merge everything together with some differentiation. That's why it's very important that we chant the names of Nandi Krishna. Not to chant names which are not Vishnu names. Of course. We can pray to the demigods or goddesses as devotees and ask them for blessings, for devotion for Ka, something like that. That's all right. The Gopis worshipped Katjayani in order to get Krishna as a husband. If our object of worship is to get Ka then it's alright. When somebody is worshipping some Deva or Devi in order to get some material benefit or thinking that they're independent, totally dead, that becomes an obstacle. Similarly, if somebody worships Ka for something material that they can get there, but it reduces their worship to something of a business propagation. I worship you giving you what you want. And you give me what I want, which isn't what you want from me. He said someone worshipping Ka then asking for Ka Bhakti, that's not work in town. Because that's what Krishna also wants for us. A Krishna can give us a material blessing very easily. That's not the problem. He can give that very easily. Most people are worshipping God with that type of prayer. We have hope groups of people that pray for each other's health and everything. But we sometimes devotee also may pray for another devotee's health. We always qualify if it so please you. As for our devotee's health is devoting one with his or her devotional service. Things have to be somehow connected to Krishna. They may one with Ka's desire. It's not according to his desire. Okay, then drop it. So example is a given. You know Prahlat Maharaj. He was offered by Nishreena Dev anything he wanted. Then he felt like, you know, I'm born in a family of demons who are very materialistic by nature. San donte. But Pilati didn't accept any material benediction. There was this secretary of Rama Rujachary who had been blinded by an enraged fanatical Shiva worshipper. A king who was a Shiva Vat. And he didn't like it that this secretary was saying that Vishnu was supreme. So he blinded him. So then what's his name? Quraysha. And he couldn't really do that service as a secretary being blind. So he stayed at the Bharat Raj temple in Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is very ancient temple, thousands and thousands of years old. It's still there. You can go and see that deity. And Quraysha was singing vaishance and kirtans and songs for the praise of this deity. Devi became very pleased and offered Quresh anything he wanted. See, pray to please forgive the people that did this to me because I don't want them to suffer my account. Then he continued to change. Sometimes again the lady was pleased and offered another blessing. Again he asked for something like that for the welfare of others. And so happened at Quresha, he went to see Ramanujacharya. Then Ramanujacharya says, I heard the deity. He's offering you anything you want. If God happens to offer you anything you want to get, please tell the deity that your Guru Maharaj has some property which is not. Which is kind of broken, malfunctioning, it's incomplete. And as a result it's not so useful in his service. So the Guru would like that this property would be restored to its full functionability, something like that. That would be the only kind of prayer that Quraysha would ask something, but not for himself, something for the Guru. So then he went back and he was singing again by chance to the deity. Again the Devi offered him. So then he asked for that prayer. Then the Guru asked him. Immediately he regained his eyes. Because when Ramanuj's mind was my servant, my secretary is like this, without any eyes or can't do a service. That was Ramanucha's intention, that he would regain his servant, his kind of a property, but regain the full functionability. So then he could return back to Ramam Rucha and take up his service again. Like I said, the pyramidal. They don't want to ask anything material for themselves. That's their nature. There was this lady in my airport. She was going blank. But she just prayed to the Lord Nashaya day that I went live. So it was maybe the last darshan that I have of you. She didn't ask for anything. Then the Lord Nishayede came in a dream and told her that see, if you give back my original eyes, I'll give you back your eyesight. Somebody originally or Mashinga, they didn't have red eyes. And somebody gave him new eyes, very fancy, with a green stone. Green eyes. Apparently machine didn't like green eyes. And this is a very ferocious mood. He wants red eyes. So when the lady told this to the Pujaris who did a Big ceremony and they replaced the eyes of the original eyes of Lord Nasinya Dev. And then as subsequently the lady regained her eyesight. Nasinya Chetra does Sri telling us so many different pastimes of this Nasanya deity. So seems he's very active. Some Vaishnavi was also bringing a basket of mangoes from Nasinya Day. And at the last minute she got some doubt that Mah Machine Day probably doesn't like mangoes. These are so good. Sometimes she didn't give them. That night Nasinya Dev came in agreement and said, why are you giving me my mangoes? I like mangoes. Next day she came to the Pujaris and told Mariana said please get the bagels. And when I put down also there's of course a pastime of Pole versus who was to really give him a hard time as a child. As a boy he used to go and get his vegetables and bananas and similar such products from him. We'd always underpay him, argue with him, very naughty. Sometimes he would accuse him that you're overcharging me. And Kolarj says I'm not overcharging. You can check the market and give you the lowest price in the entire market. And the Lord said, no, no, you're overcharging me. And then he grab a bunch of bananas and he'd throw him half the price and take this. Koler just said, grab the bananas back. What are you doing? I'm not giving you, I'm not charging you too much. The Lord said, what do you think I'm doing? Steal your bananas or something? Calling a Brahman a thief. This is very offensive. Threw another coin and walked off. Every beginning people say why do you take that from this guy? Why are you taking from them? He said, well I don't know. Whenever I see him, my heart just melts. Actually, even if he took the bananas for free, I wouldn't care. But he seems to like this. Later on when my pandit became the big professor, I didn't go to the market anymore. I knew with Kolaveche Sri, but you go and visit Kolaveche Sridhar in his house. And so you say, oh, how's it going Konaviche Sridharan? Everything's all right, Please set my pronouns. So somehow the conversation came like what you tell me to say, I know that you actually are a very rich person and you have a hidden treasure, but I'm not going to reveal it now you can give your treasure here. It's all right, I know that you actually ready rich. You have a hidden treasure. And one day I'll reveal it to everybody. But from now just give me some of your fruits and vegetable products. So somewhere before he asked, what are you doing now? How's your worship for the Ganges going on? And then he said, oh, I'm doing whatever I earn I can have to the Ganges. And I worship. I said, well, you know that I'm the father of the Ganges. How are you going to say such a thing? That's Vishnu. Actually I thought when I grew up they got less naughty still, you know sex. How you can say such a thing? He's wearing wishes. Finally Lord, she said, hey, give me some bananas. But listen, normally people begging they get the worst. I want the best worshiping my Shalaya Gavinshuda. And you be best to give me the best stuff you got. Don't just give me some, you know, refuse. I was giving him a heart every time. Drop by and see how he's doing. In the name of just visiting an old friend. And he's giving him this Bayan verse. So when I was born Chaitanya's Maha Prakash pastime when Advaita Chai is offering the 21 hour RT. Then he sent his devotees go get Golevich Asrida. When they went to get him then they told him that Lord Chaitanya, that Moranga Gorahari wants to see you. He wants to see me? Just he fainted. It was like two months. He's very, very humble. So then what to do? They picked him up and carried him to Lord. She tell him one grabbed his two legs, another grabbed the arm and carrying those plopped him down in front of Lord Chaitanya. And that big Aarti and Kolavacha Sridhara came to consciousness. And he saw the effulgent form of Lord Chaitanya. This was thought the Lord Chaitanya normally see who kind of put his illusion over his appearance. That he appeared just almost like somebody in the material world. Now all that covering was off and he was emitting so much effulgence. It was more brilliant than millions of suns. As a result, the whole world seemed to have disappeared. All you could see was Lord Chaitanya and his associates. Nityananda was fanning over the shammar and Shivas was holding an umbrella. I see what's going on. When the audience were chanting in kirtan. Some days we have long kirtans for an hour, hour and a half. It's unimaginable. A 21 hour kirtan in the presence of Wat Chaitanya Mahaprabhu revealing his identity to all his devotees. So Kolesh Yeshiva saw the Lord appear in his obeisances. And the Lord offered him that okay, I want to give you a blessing to not only Chaitanya is in the mood of a devotee. But in a couple occasions he reverted to his original Ka consciousness. His mood as Lord Krishna. And so as the supreme Lord. He would give the supreme Lord one of his functions to give blessings. One of Ka's names is Varada. Vara means blessings and Da means to give. Varadha, Varadha, Vishnu. He was offering whatever you want. He asked him, what do you want? What blessing you want? Just because I'm able to see you like this. This is such a blessing. I don't want anything else. Thank you very much. I don't mean anything. I'm so happy. This unexpected unlimited blessing. But the Lord said to an he said no, I want to give you something. Okay, you asked him anything. You want to be a king? I'll give you a kingdom. How many here would like to be a king? Have a nice kingdom, Queen. But the Cola hidden wise. I want to give you something. You can go empty handed from Krishna. So let me give you mystical powers. You can become smaller than the smallest, bigger than the biggest. Anima, Laghima, Prabhupti. Anything you want, you can have it. In the material world. So many people are anxious to get these ape cities. So you can have it. No, no. But I don't want to say it. Siddhis is not something I need. Whatever I have a mouth. I don't need all these things. Then once you turn it off. Okay, let me give you impersonal realization. Brahma, Jyoti, Marji. No, no, no. I don't want that. Please don't give me that. What you want, you have to take something. Finally after a lot of I have to ask for something. I like to always see that beautiful smiling face of that naughty Brahmin boy. I'd like to all your incarnations. I'd like to provide you with your fruit and vegetable needs. He made this service very simple. Person like this is what is what he wanted to do. Lord Chaitanya was I said, but if I'm not qualified for that all he didn't say he was so humble. If I'm not qualified for that, please let me be a ward in the family of your devotees. So that I can continue on with my devotional service. Then Lord Chaitanya, he Said I'm going to give you something so wonderful. Brahma and Shiva are anxious for this. I mean this is the supreme blessing I have. I bless you with pure love of Krishna. All the devotees in kirtan, they were like exploring here the little, the flea market, banana salesman, kolavich and sweetheart. That's probably the most equivalent thing we have. If you've been to India and you see these village markets where all the people sit down with their baskets offering their wares. But hidden behind that simplicity and that poverty was this hidden treasure that he was a pure devotee to Ka and Krishna recognized him. Doesn't matter that he wasn't, you know, big high class guy, didn't need a Pauline Clinton or Rolls Royce or anything. His attraction was he was a pure devotee. That's why Krishna always kept going to see him and buying from him. So even someone who is very poor, they can also be a pure devotee. It's more like a financial cutoff that you have to make this much to be a pure devotee. Anybody can be a pure devotee. An example because Kola bhai Srila, he was really the Lake of Taurus. On top of that he was spending 50% of his income. So Lord Chaitanya, when he said I'm giving a lot of Krishna devotees were just overwhelmed. They're pulling their hair like Hoibo Haribo rolling in the ground. It's like this is a fantastic God bless you. So but he had to decide also. He refused any material benediction. He didn't want any material benediction. He was thinking that all throughout the histories that I'm going to know is when they're offered some blessing, Vedantik, some thing that's malcong to the Ka service, always want to continue on with their service to Krishna. That's their particular quality. So these Brahmanas here are great devotees, pure devotees. They don't want material benediction. They're feeling so much blessed that the Lord has entered into their hearts. This is really what we need and what should enter into our hearts. That's why we wear a tilak and 12 parts of our body make our body into a temple. We chant Har Krishna, try to purify our heart to welcome Krishna Siddha once he comes towards the become totally purified. At least we don't want to invite him to sit down some total garbage. So we're hoping that Ka will be present in our hearts. Illuminate our heart from all the darkness that ignores. We chant Pithai and Oranga. They're dancing in our minds. The dancing in our minds about so that purifies our consciousness and we want the Ka Ka to stay in our hearts. That's the devotees ever anxious for that. The Lord reveal Himself in the heart. Somehow His Brahmana is a complete. They felt that they had that blessing and the Lord actually entered into their hearts. Supreme Lord is worshipable by everyone, especially the great sages who know who should be worshiped. They worship the Lord, but the Lord, he accepts the Brahmanas and Vaishnavas as his worshipable deity. Krishnas weren't respecting the Brahmanas in his pastime. So that's why they also hold the Brahmanas very dear. Now it's very hard to find. That's a special quality. Let's see who else was there. How Krishna is so wonderful actually, although he is worshipped by everybody, he worships his devotees. He worships the Ravanas. So there's some verse, I forget where it is in the Bhagavatam that explains how if you take a human being and you calculate just for comparing the universe where the human being stands, use them as a comparison integer 1. Like sometimes they say what was the Australian dollar worth in 1970 and what's it worth today? And they compare how much buying power and so on, so forth. Something they say how well The Gandharvas are 10 times. Those are the ghosts first and then the one after another, the Chandrayas, all the different levels in the universe. Each one was 10 times more than the previous one and the next one, next one, next one. She got up to the Asuras, powerful mystical demons who due to their austerities and penances they become very powerful. But 10 times more powerful than them is the Devas, the demigods. And then 10 times, 100 times more than them is Indra as the king of the demigods. And a thousand times more than Indra was Brahma as the creator of the universe. But it's what you speak to the Brahmanas. They are even respected by Ka. The Bravanas and Vaishnavas are even respected by Krishna, who can, who is unlimited. There were problems with everybody. They would say how powerful are the Brahmanas? I need some Brahman and cursed Yamaraj to become a Sudra. He came down as Vidura. So the human being are really insignificant in the universal. One of the ones who want to show Prabhupa on the roof of the Lotus building and there was a migration of all kinds of ants from leaving one Hole in the wall and marching to another mole and the other wall. And there are thousands of them carrying these little white ant eggs. You can see the big mother, what do you call the queen ants and the worker ants and everybody marching along, entering into some other drain someplace. So we're looking down at them, Prabhupada, he just commented, just like we're looking down thinking what insignificant creatures. How they just live for a few days. They're very insignificant. We're so great. But actually the residents of higher planets, they look down at human beings with their cities and their highways and their tollways of everything. They look down and I'm buzzing around and they just think, you know, how insignificant I've been for a few days. Because one of our years is one of their days. So if you live a hundred years, that means it's a hundred days by the calculations of the Devas, that's like three months. Like what kind of animal lives three months? Some mouse or something. Something probably really insignificant. I don't know, cockroach or something. Maybe my popcorn stood longer than that. I don't know. But anybody, any biologists can remember who it lives for three months. Some butterflies live for months. So we're kind of like on the level of a butterfly turning into a worm or something, a little caterpillar, very insignificant. But if a human being becomes a pure devotee, if a human being comes a Brahman amongst the Brahmanas, the best of the Brahmanas is a pure devotee of Krishna, then the leap frog over the very universally important personality, you see. But what? Normally if people who only were born in Brahminical families, they kind of get the Samskaras to become Brahmanas. In history, a few people like Vishwamita was born in a Shakya family to become like Greater Pasadena, he became brown. But Chaitanya Mahbhu's mercy. People can become Brahmanas fairly easily by becoming Vaishnavas. Because being a Vaishnava automatically qualifies one as a Brahmana. Mr. Krishna, he's also respecting the Brahmanas. That's how important the Brahmanas are. The human being doesn't understand that there are eternal spirit soul. If they're just on a bodily platform, they're really significant. Sometimes they're like living dead, living to die. But the Ravanas are living to go back to Ganya, the Vaishnavas. So we're trying to create these Brahmana Vaishnavas. One of the quality is that the Brahmanas is that they are working for the welfare of others. They are paradukadukkhi, sad to see others suffer. They like to give out the mercy that they give for the upliftment of the fallen souls. I mean, most people are in this kind of business mentality. They think, well, why don't I. Why should I bother to do something to somebody else? What do I get out of it? What's in it for me? That's like the normal kind of mentality. If you ask someone to do something or someone, they just think, you know, what's in it for me? Or the Brahmanas actually try. Of course, they don't want to waste their time, but they like to give something really valuable. What's more, this is the greatest gift that Krishna can illuminate your heart. And all the ignorance can be dissipated. We can realize that we're eternal servitors of the Lord. And our dharma is to serve the Lord eternally, properly expressed. He wanted to create his Brahmanas and Vaishnavas in that way. Devotees, they make many sacrifices, many devotees in advance too. I mean, you know, I'm speaking, say, within iskcon, it's like we're sitting here in this beautiful temple room with the nice columns and the mirror chandelier with some kind of, you know, central heating and beautiful beauties and marble altars. And, you know, somebody worked pretty hard to put all this together. They made a sacrifice, right? And that was their. That was their donation. That was their contribution to Krishna. That's that. And you read in the Puranas, it says somebody gives even one brick to build the temple that their seat, you know, their seat in Vaigunta, there's already the God kept warm for 10 minutes. But some, I don't know, somehow in the morning, Saddam, sometimes you meet somebody who somehow becoming bitter or something. Somehow they forgot initially when they were doing the service. It was all in a mood and a spirit of surrender. Some people, they're still in that. Well, most people are, but there's a few times we meet someone. I worked so many years for iskcon. I wasn't working for iskcon, working for Krishna. And I didn't get a television set out. All I got was a seat in my. I mean, I'm being a little bit facetious that way. It's something I'm wondering, what are they thinking about? How do they lose their devotional spirit? How do they lose that service attitude? Actually, what they did was really wonderful. And maybe it's everyone sustained it that's another thing. But at least whatever they did, why should they take that away from themselves? It was their service to Ka, that's their glory. Did something we want to somehow always remain Ka consciousness, Maya is so powerful, somehow Maya can bend us out of shape if we're not careful. And reverted us back to this mercantile attitude and this mundane calculation. So that's the disease that everybody's infected with. And somehow through a time we get. We see the light, we get the illumination, we get free from that kind of mentality. We feel happy for some time. But then somehow we get into some offenses and I don't know, something happens. Sometimes people lose that. I'm always praying that I never, never lose my devotional attitude. Whatever I have, I get a lot more of. Is frightening, right? I mean, it's really frightening if you see somebody who is no longer in devotional service. And that doesn't mean that to be devotional service you have to be in a temple serving from your home. You know, some people serving from their homes. Not saying that somebody always want to live in an ashram, but it's rather a facility. If somebody wants to, they can live in an ashram. But otherwise, if they want to, they can also go and live in their home and serve Krishna from their home. So the point is that somehow if the light is a little bit turned on in our heart, we want to be very careful not to turn it off or not to let somebody put some dirty laundry over the light bulb or something. Cover us up with all some kind of Vaishnav apparatus and criticism. It seems some people, you know, misery likes company. They want to bring other people into the miserable state they are. We're trying to make everybody happy, right? We're trying to make everybody happy and blissful and show that so much happiness in serving Krishna when some people are the ones who do the opposite. So we have to learn how to give association, but not take bad association. So with different kinds of people. So we're reading about these Brahmanas who were given the entire world in charity, right? No more economic problems. They own the world, but they give back to Vairama inside. You don't need it. You've given us something much more valuable, the greatest gift. You come in our heart. You've given us your devotion. You illuminated our ignorance. You're the supreme personality, Godhead. If you are showing such a wonderful example, your worship can ground us. So in our humble life, we're trying to learn how to become Vaishnavas and Brahmanas. And try to serve Ka, try to work for the welfare of others. And giving for uplifting other people is actually the most satisfying thing. That's actually fully satisfying to the heart. And very blissful Suvkam pattern of them blissfully, super happily performed. I remember I arrived at what was. That was IPO Malaysia with Prabhu Swami and Bhakti Vijayananda Swami. I think we're going there for Rathyansha. And there was another boy there. He's like beaming, you know, every hasta, he's smiling so much. Oh, what's your name? You look really happy. What's making you so happy? What's your secret? How did you get so happy? And he said, well, it was all because of your mercy. So. So how is that? Well, the temple president here, he asked me to give out to all my friends invitations for the Rathyatra that they could come and see the maharajas who are coming. So I would, why not go with my bead bag or on my neck? And I visit my friends and give them the invitation. And they say, hey, what happened to you? Why is your arm in a sling? We don't know what the beats are. I was once chanting japa in Calcutta and sitting down, waiting in the airport. And there was some of these sisters of mercy and Mother Teresa. You can see the owls where they do size the white sires with a blue border. And one of them came over and said, can I ask you a question? I said, sure, why not? And then I was chanting, you know, you know how you kind of spin your beads when you chant? He says, what do you have in that vein? You have a chicken in there? I took out the pizza rosary, you know. So anyway, his friends are asking, like, what are you doing? What's this? What's. And then so he said I had to tell them so many things. And I never realized how wonderful it is to talk about Ka. When you talk about Krishna to people, you start feeling very happy. So he gave me a hundred invitations. I haven't gone to 100 people and everyone's asking me about Ka. I feel so happy talking to 100 people about Ka. I'm just overwhelming and happy, overwhelmed, like bubbling over with happiness. This is a secret you tell people about Ka and you can get spiritual happiness. And those who ever went on a book distribution, sometimes, you know, on the way out, sometimes you feel this nervous crunch in your stomach and different things. Once you're actually going out there and talking to Krishna, of course, if you're something on rough days, but you should somebody listen to you, tell them to him take books. Is there any enlightenment? People in the mornings and they come back all fired up, enthusiastic. See the devotees are going out to Asad here in Melbourne. You go out in the jungle to some forest some day after the to feed people Prashala and some big festival back to nature Confessions after announcing Bismillah. Something about giving. When you're giving Krishna, whether it's Prasada or everything, and it just gives a lot of energy. So we never want to somehow be tricked to stop being in a position where we can give out Krishna to others. That's really the mercy of Chaitanya Mahafra do He gives us Ka even though we don't deserve it. We don't have any special quality that we should get into this process. Mercy gives us to his agents, to his representatives. When we give it out to others and we start to feel so spiritually enlightened, even already enlightened is getting the mercy. We're then giving it to others. The happiness increases more and more. So these Brahmanas are feeling blessed because Ramachandra has entered into their heart and illuminated their heart. It's very rare to get that kind of a blessing. But somehow by Lord Chaitan, his mercy, his followers are able to give that blessing also. They're able to give people the mantra of Ka and bring the happiness in their heart. Bring the illumination in their heart which is completely transcendental. So it's really this. As I've explained, it's the greatest gift we have. Some rich uncle and giving in this treasure house of great gifts. You can go around, give it to everybody. No matter how much you give with those of some more, someone thinks, well, what's in it for me? Well, take it from these Brahmanas. You've already got the highest gift and you're giving it to others. It's getting multiplied. You're getting even more. You're getting. This is lining you up to get the highest benediction that Kola ventures Sri Ragha, which is pure love of Ka, which is even worth more than just deceived by Kantha. Although Krishna is liberating this benediction by helping Lord Chaitan and giving out this fruit of devotion for Ka that we becoming more and more eligible. So get lunch attended. Rav was very merciful. He could have just wiped out Rabbi on his own if he wanted to. He didn't need a whole bunch of monkeys to help. But he engaged all the monkeys. Like the Lord Chaitanya is already liberated in the whole universe. He doesn't need us to open in one sense but that's his mercy giving us this service, giving us this opportunity. That's how he does things. So we have the the great benediction to be able to help Lord Chaitanya help his son in Prabhupada like he said, you know, my spiritual master left the western world for me an Srila Prabhupada Salamon got in half the job you had to finish that. He built the structure of the house, we got to finish fitting it out, building the walls, whatever else needs to be done. So that's the special message that we're given in service to. That's the nature of the Brahmanas that they're thinking about helping others. They're not just thinking about themselves for themselves. They're willing to live in a simple way, but they're concerned about others. We need that kind of people in the world to make the world really a better place. Making the God conscious, peaceful, happy world happy and spiritual bliss. Any question? Surrender people is job joblessness job. We have an anxiety of maintaining the family. So how do we approach Krishna strike? Well, everything we ask for is somehow connected that we just want to increase our service to Krishna. So most people, they just want to send him a ask and they need a job. And their idea is they have a job that they can enjoy in sense communication with himself. I want to serve you. I want to increase my service to you. But in the present situation I'm not able to serve you as well as I would like to. Can't invite people over to my house. They don't have any money. I don't even know how I'll be living in the house. I can't pay the rent, but I just want to serve you. So praying in such a way that it's for increasing our service to Krishna and for other purposes. But we have a right, we have not an obstacle to maintain our family happening right now. We don't know. Maybe Krishna doesn't want us to have a job right now. He's got a better job in store for us in the future. Maybe now he wants to free us to do a little more service. What's sometimes difficult to understand what Krishna's plan is. Maybe this opportunity to change their profession to something that we could use more directly in Krishna service tend to understand one is early as the Lord wants when something happens. But if you do pray for something, you think that well it's going to help me to do and improve my service to Krishna. If you do pray for something that even that's connected like that you always qualify to do it, so please you. But I can get a nice job and I can be able to serve you very nicely and take care of my family and be free. So I can do so somewhere. Like Richard Richie or whatever it might be. That's kind of, if it's properly phrased, that wouldn't be in contradiction. But the qualities of Krishna. There's some personalities like Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma, that have qualities of the Lord, but not in full. Are those qualities? Are they in total? I mean, the spirit soul also has the qualities of the Lord as well. Out of 64 qualities, we have 50 in a minute. Brahma has 50 in a lesser quantity than Krishna. Quantity. What to speak that we have also. But a significant. We have the potential to have those 50 qualities whether we have them or not. Ramana has it, but I mean, but how do we have them? Mercy, charity, all these living those potentially there in a living entity, whether we are manifesting them or not, to what extent we have them develops some living entity like Brahma was a fully developed Jiva, hence all deity, but for some dimensions, rather much as Krishna does. And then Shiva has five more than Brahma and Vishnu has five more than Shiva. And Krishna is the only one with only 64 at the moment we just covered blindness. Yeah. I mean, those qualities is that different people may be manifested to different degrees. Brahma has more manifests than internal. Many of those 50 qualities are inherently developed by Krishna's mercy. The Brahmanas have these qualities because they have wonderful qualities. That's why Krishna respects it. Not just, you know, like being a Brahman is a title or a cast. It's actually like being twice born and being spiritually awakened. And they also awaken many of these wonderful good qualities that we read out yesterday. Samadhamas, Tapas or Cham, Chanthir, Arjun, Evacha, Jnana, Vijayana, Vastikyam, Brahma, Karma, Viva Arjun, peacefulness, self control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, wisdom, knowledge and religiousness. These are the qualities by which the Brahmans work. So these qualities, there's something very appreciated in vibration. You can explain them that more. There's 12 qualities of the body telling you 15, 26 and asana. So the devotees are starting to increase in their good qualities. They're trying to avoid the bad things, enhance the Buddha. That comes automatically by checking and by the process of somewhere in devotional sense, if you see good quality in somebody that you can appreciate that trying to see the Good qualities in others and try to find out what they fix in ourselves. Eradicate and defects. And I know that can work. Is that all right? This idea that everyone should be pleased or feel considered myself myself nice and be happy with me. And you know, then I have this also some qualities where I'm sort of element and I. You know, my people. And when they sort of criticize, it's very hard to. To hear if someone is sort of disbelieving me. How should we direct this? Well, it's kind of paradoxical what you're saying. On one hand, I have these bad qualities and I'm ignorant, arrogant and proud. So I just deal with somebody. Then when they tell me about it, I get. I guess I don't feel good. But maybe it's good not to feel good. Yeah. About those qualities. Maybe that's like part of the medicine is that sometimes you need someone to tell us. Sometimes maybe a friend, really. But hey, you know, come on. Did you want to breathe? I've been feeling like that. Rather, we should be so much introspective that we see it in ourselves first. We already got a hint that this is our tendency. Then we should go out of our way to be more humble and more. And avoid arrogance. Vaishnavas. In case I do something isn't halfway good. They may always think that anything I could do good was by the mercy of the deities, mercy of my guru, blessing of the Vaishnavas. They don't like to take the credit for themselves. They take minimal credit for themselves, maximum for the thought of mercy of Guru Krishna and so on. So arrogance usually means that somehow we're taking the credit ourselves and we're forgetting that our ability to do anything well is also a blessings. Something like that. We try to. So we should wear that around our neck over our heart constantly. To be more humble than a blade of grass, more tolerant than a tree, to offer all respect unto others, but not to expect any respect for ourselves. It seems like you were expecting some respect. You didn't get it. You're not supposed to expect it. It's rather you're supposed to give other people appreciation, appreciate other people. Then you'll find you probably get less. Less criticisms too. But we may think that I'm doing pretty good. Everybody should appreciate how well I did. And when they don't, then we feel frustrated. Well, that's exactly what this verse tells us to avoid. Rather we should be thinking how I can appreciate other people. For me, it's okay. I'm just going to go on trying to do the best I can, really. Also, it's also very difficult to please everybody. You're trying to please Guru and Krishna, but sometimes you get indication of other Vaishnavas do not please. And maybe Krishna is not pleased either. But it's something we're doing. So that's where we need to be some kind of introspective. Like there was a time when that Brahmachari got the sauce from Vocanya, the Brahmachari, who was the kind of yogi Brahmachari came and was peeping tongue, looking at the hari nam and then watch Itarya asked him what's he doing and then evaluated his self realization standard and figured out that he was really not up to the mark, told him so, told him that he wasn't running to the endless confidential cure time. And they showed him the door. But afterwards he was thinking about it. I said, really, Lou? Chaitanya said it was correct. I'm really not that spiritually oriented. I'm putting a big show on. Actually. The people who were chanting and dancing in kirtan and chanting Hare ka, they were so much absorbed in that chanting, they were not taking it. They were really there. They were really where was I at? And then he just started becoming very humble and thinking that how did I get the mercy even to see Lord Chaitanya Skirta and see those wonderful little boys, they started crying. And Lord Chaitanya sent for him, brought him back in, said, you know, you're ready. So sometimes we may have to hear, you know, a little bit of correction. It comes especially from someone who's more senior than that, someone who's more responsible and it's more appropriate, maybe easier to digest. But that's, that's part of the whole experience that we sometimes have to get some advice how to improve. We should actually ask for it. We should actually be eager to get that. If we don't ask for it, then eventually get on somebody's nerves enough, they just might volunteer it whether we like it or not. Then let's. If somebody gives advice in a more tactful way, then probably you wouldn't feel that upset. You would get more out of it. So we could all probably learn that rather than just kind of blurting out what you don't like about somebody, you tell people what you do like about them and then advise them what you think they're going to improve at. And then maybe they can. Most of all, you should digest that a lot easier. Maternalists like Ramya Kashu, he Couldn't digest any kind of suggestion from Pranayama, however nice it was presented. I hope you don't have too many ranikashi pursuits around here. Another question, Shraddha. Shraddha. So often we have our own ideas and plans for our lives. And I get all confused and I play games with my own mind. How do we just let go of those games and surrender? Interesting. We all make plans. Plans of primal liability. We'll have goals. It's good to always verify with our goals. If our plans are Ka conscious enough, if they're appropriate enough as a man propose, grant, dispose. So we're proposing something about Ka. If our plan is acceptable, KA's plan for us, and it may work out, he has completely another plan, it may not. So at least you like to know that one of our plans seems to have a semblance of acceptability. Through prayer and through discussion with spiritual master. And different things. We try sometimes to make up one plan. It doesn't work out. We go back to the drawing board. We always at least whatever our plan may be that it fits in with harmonious without being Ka conscious, then it would be pretty safe. And Shrinivasacharya had his plan that really wanted. There's all those different things happen that would work out. But eventually, yes, he always kept with the same Ka conscious ideals and eventually got properly situated. We can't give up. We should also verify in principle what we want is all right. And then after that we tried for it. And sometimes on the way, if you find out something that works out even better. It's hard to know sometimes in the beginning. But if we didn't try for the one thing, we would have never gotten to the point where we could find the other things. It's hard sometimes to know things get revealed. I wanted to. I never could figure out what I should do in my career because I always like to do certain things. And then I thought we tried Ka consciousness. And then somehow, whatever the ideas I had, I'd like to do. Seems like I had more than I could even bargain for. Probably needed so much service and so much opportunities. So it worked out for me all right. But those I told about Agrihasa when he had migrated to Canada, but he couldn't find a decent job in Canada. Then somehow he got a job, went to a Canadian company to work in South Africa. Now he's, you know, in South Africa. But then there he's able to use his experience of bhakti Vriksha preaching and setting up many bhakti Vrikshas in South Africa. Sometimes you're bounced around. You don't know exactly how. I was made the president of Calcutta and then next thing I know, Prabhupada sent me to Mayapur and I was a president of Mayanpur. Devotees, they learn to be a little bit flexible, play things as they come along, but always keep their spiritual principles as their guiding principle. Initially it's good to have a plan that's physical Krishna consciousness. Mahatma. A flutter of questions. Today we were in the course of lecture. You said that Krishna is already in the heart of everyone. So he had to come again. So I couldn't understand this. Any expand on this Parvatma voice is in our heart. But if we want to bring Krishna in our heart in a more direct way, the Ka coming in our heart and in a direct way that we can also experience. And that's what illuminates our heart. I said when we chant Nutego Rangamole Matriyama or more than Krishna is dancing in our mind. It's probably just like in a temple here we don't wear our shoes. We don't let people bring in dirty things. They don't smoke in here, they don't drink, they don't smell. So many things you don't do in a temple. Now if you want Krishna to come into our heart and be present there in a very visible in a way that we can experience his presence. So we want to keep out some of this, the gross garbage that's in our heart. So we don't want to bring in intoxication. We don't want to bring in. You want to bring meat into a temple. So we're bringing the meat into the temple. We don't bring any. That's why we try to be vegetarian and try avoid drinking intoxication and gambling and things like that so that we can have our pure heart in which to invite Ka when it comes. And then you do the initial least gross, you know, get the gross dirt out of the house. And then after that Ka eliminates everything and it becomes evident. But it's not that Ka is manifest in everybody's heart in that perceived manner. He's there as super soul. But sometimes they're not even aware of his presence at all. We're talking about being Ka there. As we can hear that we can get directly instruction from Ka. We can perceive his presence. We can sense a transformation in our consciousness. Any last question, Keshe? All right. Well, it's a favorite month of Krishna. It's even More than Dhammada once a year, the normal months, Dhammada is the favorite. But then poor shorthand is like Krishna's month. Purushottama, supreme personality and godhead and services and charity and spiritual activities done in that month are very, very powerful. I can't remember the numerical equation. I look it up and tell you to mention the Padma Purana. But it's very, very powerful. The Kia sees in that month are also super powerful. So it's a very good month for people to. Of course devotees are already at max speed the whole time going to get all the benefit for all your months. But if there's someone who hasn't been working at the maximum optimum level yet, at least that month is a good time to rev up your motors and ignore it full speed. If you're not chanting 16 rounds in that month. Time to chant. It's a good month to invite Vaishnavas to your house and to do service for the deities. It's probably good for congregational preaching. These kind of months are really good to get everybody fired up. Like everybody be a vegetarian or put a shot to a month if they're not already. Get that to chant a certain number of rounds if they're not already, or increase it. It's a good month to get them to pledge some donations, multiple benefits and do some things in Bogan every day. Visit the temple. There's different things you can do. I can post it on my website where all the things that you can do for a pretty short term run. But this comes once in three years. I remember reading about three years ago. I should have read up before I left. So this kind of numbering in a general sense, not over all the details, but there's also some pastime about it. Purushotta month is like for materialists. They don't think it's not a good. It's not. They don't consider it a good month, but actually for spiritual life, it's really good. That was the last question. Steve, making an exception for you. Yes, yes, you got our advocate here. I just don't want to say we have to break our karate fast for what? Sunday 10:15.
