20041218 || Gītā Jayanti Class || Mathurādeśa #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

A recorded Gītā Jayanti class (Bhagavad Gīta anniversary lecture) focusing on why the Bhagavad Gīta must be read regularly and taught to children and congregations. The speakers (identified only as A/B/C) link devotional practice and family life, urge householders to support congregational preaching, describe plans to compile and publish Prabhupāda’s writings on congregational development, and offer devotional reflections on the Gīta’s authority (quotations of chapters/verses, references to Lord Chaitanya and A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda).
There are two kinds of great people. The Srihastras and King Madehisa.
Means.
That is based on one of the four Ashramas. And it's supposed to be based on this compassion, religion, responsibility, Yangyan. Various things are there as part of that Vihasta life. How much I can enjoy my family life. This is the main interest. And of course it's not always black and white. I mean some people are like really great Villasas very spiritually Grihasta like everything. Maybe there's some people are totally amenities where they hardly do anything in between so many varieties. So what happens when the devotee they're becoming Krishna conscious. Because then other relatives who are medis.
They get on their case.
Why you are being too religious. You shall enjoy all their peasants. We are not saying don't enjoy are the word also enjoy. You cannot live in this world without enjoying. You cannot live in this world without suffering.
All things.
We're not saying that it's forbidden to enjoy. We're saying to do everything in such a way. Make your enjoyment. Make it connected to within that Yukta Bhairagya. There'll be happiness. Sometimes there'll be other experiences. But then those who are more oriented to dreaming they'll be thinking that this why you want to do all this religion. There's no need to chant. There's no need to do. But if you don't chant, how low. If you don't have additional consciousness environment all your children will grow up to be on the road. Okay. It's one thing you can say. Wait till you get old and then you practice your religious life. This is a normal 25 year student. 25 run up first and after 75 then you go for they have all kinds of four minutes. We should start practicing our spiritual life at the age of 5.
Old age. What is your age? 6. How are you? 9. Also 9.
How many years you.
Came out family.
Life while we're doing a variety of things. Then when all the children are grown up focused on don't have to do so many other material things.
Concentrate more on our spiritual life.
Inform our souls that we're.
Well being.
We also need to be focused on helping others. That was a nice thing. Is that we especially if they're initiated by a Sanghyasi as a duty to spread Krishna consciousness at home.
This is very important. This is all.
The rehasses and all the finances. This is an important purport. We want to by the next by 2005 Prabhupada Puja or latest by Gur Ponima. You want to have a book. I don't know the exact title, but something like Nature of the congregational Preaching. One of the aspects of that in all the quotations the Prabhupada said that are related to continuational development. And Muscat Iskan has taken responsibility to search all Prabhupada's writing to do that. But I don't know how far they succeeded. Is this verse included then.
Must also be.
Rather than just scanning the full of folio or it's a scientific page two and because there's no key word.
Here.
Lenders, conversations, classes who wants to.
Help in this project.
To different people. I just had a meeting but contain we want to do this in a.
Fast track.
Because we want to publish many different literatures from our ministry of Congregational Development. And while many people as many of the general devotees in his camp because there's so much spoken about things like book distribution which is also the Sunnaya Sibadi Gita Jayanti. So books are our basis. But Srila Prabhupada also said that so many millions of books that went out. Where are all the devotees.
Because they need a follow up.
When somebody gets the book cultivate there so many other practices and deer center and service. Then you get the real benefit and people become devoted. Just some people become fully devoted just by the book. But I don't know what the statistics are. There is a certain percentage that use the books of the vast majority of people. They also need the pedagogy association.
In any case in these books Prabhupada.
Has said lots of things about like this verse that Vihastas should invite people to their home. Should have programs like we're having today. Should be helping the sanyasi do respect Mr. Khan react to the teaching to the congregation. So we want to also get from the different preachers like that in Iskan their comments. I don't know if anybody wants to take a get the comments and then I will some short articles put this compile it all together like this.
So.
That the bodies can get a better handle on how this is integral part of our essential part of our program. And you don't put things in a timeline. Then by next year we're going to be the same place. So in order to get everything together we probably got about three months Sam it Householders should earn money by business or by profession and spend at least 50% of his income is spent in that includes getting people in your house.
And.
They went into the temples on different selling books. Bring them by Gita Jaya Jayanti. One of the things people do is called Shastradan. People which serve or they buy sponsor books to go into school library, into jail, hospitals, old folks homes and that's called the shastradam.
Yeah.
And inside the book you can say this book is donated by so and so in the name of great grandmother 18th of December.
To the.
School. Maybe even here in Oman they must have some schools that have the Indian school and accepting the landing.
In the library.
People who watch they have all the books. People who want to see that they'll figure out you don't do because you want to become famous or you didn't want to do it because you want that the people should give a good example. One communist leader told me when I was in Baroque. She told me that no, it's changing. I got eight or 16 rounds. And why?
Because.
She can do it. She's coming from a rich family. She's got all the material facilities. But she's coming and telling us that she had a business she can do. What excuse do I have? So I said I have to do it.
Time.
We have to be very. Most people are fearful in these books. This knowledge makes us fearless. We worship this. When I understand that I am Krishna God, the living entity is servant of God, servant of Krishna. There's no more suffering and also no more fear. All the fear has gone away. All the dangers go away. Sam what we will do for the Jayanti, you see, we do Aarti to.
The Bhagavad Gita.
Recitation of Slokanes.
Some.
Of the glories different chapters. Right now for this month, the special smaller full size. It's not small, it's. It's a slightly small, but it's the same size. Joker Steve Gerson as well as all the universes are in me. Everything is within Krishna. We're also part of Krishna. So we receive. We are part of Krishna. How many of you can understand that you're part of Krishna and myself in.
You.
What.
I think David.
Did you hear that everybody?
One was the sibling Bhagavan Gibb India.
And somehow two people donated or gave her five visa.
No, I think they collected money from.
Different people and they arranged to send.
It in the Bombay.
So from there now she's devoted.
Six months. You can print something like somebody's name and photograph.
For that one.
We have to arrange our own or PPT will change this we give. And how much quantities do you require for that.
Of this there is no doubt. Chapter 8 verse 15 Great souls who are yogis in devotion never return to this temporary bone which is full of miseries because they have attained the Highest Perfection. Chapter 9 Next 2. This knowledge and because it gives direct perception of the self by realization, it is the perfection of religion. It is everlasting. Their lives are fully devoted to my service and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing about me. Bhagavad Gita chapter 1855.
Sam.
Ram Ram Ram Sam Sa Bam.
It.
Today is a very happy day. Birthday Bhagavad Gita was spoken by Lord Krishna on this holy day 5,000 and some years ago. At least we're celebrating an anniversary on this day. So this is called the Gita Jambi. Bhagavad Gita is also known as Gitopanishad. Bhagavad Gita is described as the cream of all the Vedas. If all the Vedic knowledge is like milk, the cream is considered the best part of the milk. Because from the cream what do you get? You get butter, you get ghee. From ghee you can perform sacrifices. So the Bhagavad Gita is that creamy. Explains Ya Pratit Vayatat Kuman if one properly follows the instructions of Bhagavad Gita, one can be freed from all the miseries and anxieties of life. Vaya Sogavi Varchitaha One will be freed from all the fears in this life and one next life will be spiritual. So it's very important that all of us regularly read the Baja Vada. It should be part of our daily activities to read the Bhagavad Gita. His divine grace. AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada ISKCON founder, Acharya Spiritual Master. He established that in every temple of ISKCON there should be daily reading of Bhagavad Gita. In the evenings, in the morning there will be reading of the Srimad Bhagavatam. How many of you have read Bhagavad Gita?
Everyone.
But I'm surprised some have not raised their hand. There's one book that everyone should have in their home. That should be the Bhagavad Gita. How many of you have Bhagwa eat in your house? Bhagavad Gita is very special. There are many scriptures spoken by great Rishis, sages. Bhag Bhagavad Gita is the only one spoken directly by the Supreme Lord Himself. Krishna is Bhagavash. If we want to understand the meaning of Bhagavad Gita, we have to understand it from the point of view that the speaker is supreme Goddess and he is explaining reality to his friend and devotees. Whether someone believes it or not, it's a secondary question. But if you want to understand what is at least trying to.
We have.
To understand it from that point of view in order to make any sense at all. That's a Bhagavad Gita, the song of God. God is singing this. God is telling us this. If one reads Bhagavad Gita very sincerely and with all seriousness, then by the grace of the Lord, the reactions of his press misdeeds will not act upon you. How many of you would like to suffer all the reactions for every sin you've ever committed in this life and the previous hundred lives? Nobody wants to do two or three. Okay? How many would rather engage themselves in some positive service for the Lord? If you. Most people don't want to have to suffer. We also don't want to go on committing sins. We don't want to go on committing sins, and we don't necessarily want to spend all our time suffering. If you're suffering too much, you can't do anything positive. So reading the Bhagavad Gita protects us from the reactions of our previous misdeeds. Krishna says he will protect us. Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear. Thus the Lord has taken responsibility for all those who surrender unto Him. He indemnifies us from against all the reactions of our sins. Bhagavad Gita gives us this message.
In.
The 18th chapter, Bhagavad Gita.
That we.
Should surrender to Krishna. That means, just like all of you are surrendering to so many things. Some of may think, I will not surrender to anyone, but we are always surrendering. When you get married, you have to surrender to your spouse. We have to make so many adjustments when we take a job to some degree, maybe not total surrender, but we have to surrender our time, our energy, our abilities to do the work in that particular company. So partially we were surrendering in so many ways. When we understand that Krishna is supreme Lord, that he is the friend of everyone, his friend of the fallen. Why not take shelter of Him? We work for Him. You do like Arjuna did. Arjuna wanted to give up everything. Some people are afraid that if my husband, if my wife, if they chant Hare Krishna, if they read Bhagavad Gita, they're going to become Sanyasis or Sanyasinis. They're going to give everything up. But that's not the message of the Bhagavad Gita. Ayesha wanted to give everything up. He wanted to leave the battlefield. But Krishna says, no, you stay in the battle, but you fight not for winning, not for losing. You fight for my interest. So that's what surrender to Krishna means. It doesn't mean that you have to be a Sanyasi and leave your family. It means you stay in the family but you do the activities you normally do for Ka. That's the system. Whether you're Drihasta or whether you're Sannyasi, everyone should chant. He also gave the instruction. The bottom line is everyone was requested of followers of Lord Shaitan to request everyone. Chennai Krishna worship Krishna read Bhagavad Gita Srimad Bhagavatam. Lord Chaitanya didn't write any books of his own. He only wrote eight verses. But he told his followers to read the Bhagavad Gita and the Shimrad Bhagavatam. Those books are there. They're adequate. I don't need to write anything else. So Bhagavad Gita is so important. Lord Chaitanya, he once encountered one Ramana in Salt India who was reading the Bhagavad Gita. As he was reading, there were many children, little children and some village ladies around, laughing and yelling. They're all laughing and pointing and making fun. And he was crying, reading Gita and crying. So it was quite a scene. What's going on here? It looked like they're laughing at him and he's crying. But appearances can be deceiving. So therefore he went to find out what is happening. So, my dear sir, what are you doing? He said, well, I'm trying to read the Bhagavad Gita. Why all these people are laughing at you? Well, I am somewhat illiterate. I don't have education, so I'm not able to read the Bhagavad Gita very well. Because I make so many mistakes, they're laughing at me. So why you are crying? When I read in the Bhagavad Gita, when I remember how Krishna, who is supreme Lord, he is the creator of everything, maintainer of everything, destroyer of everything, everything is resting in will. He is the base of the impersonal Brahma of the Paravakma, super soul of the material and spiritual Worlds, everything is coming from Him. Yet he was so humble that he accepted the humble role to be the chariot driver for his devotee Arjuna. When I think of how Krishna is so wonderful that he will be the driver for his devotee, I cannot help but cry. When Lord Chaitanya heard that, he said, you are the real Pandit of the Bhagavad Gita. And he embraced him because why? Because you have understood his purport. The purpose of the Bhagavad Gita. Bhagavad Gita is to be read and understood that how Krishna is speaking for our benefit. He's revealing the secrets of life for us. He's the supreme and he's accepted to serve his devotee out of love. The Lord loves us. He never forgets anything that his devotee does. He told to our juvenile, you loudly proclaim it that I always protect my devotees and my devotees will never be destroyed. The name Hakda Parashat Sakrit Gita Vikasnama Samsara Valladasanam. One may cleanse himself daily by taking a bath in water. But if one takes a bath even once in the sacred Ganthi's water, a Bhagavad Gita for him the dirt of material life is altogether very first Gita Mahatmya. 3 Bhagavad Gita.
Very special.
Great Acharyas, spiritual masters from all the Saunder Nayas respective Bhagavad Gita. Whether one is a Vaishnava or whether one is Advaita body, whatever one may be, Bhagavad Gita everyone respects. If there's one Shastra that is universally accepted by all to Salaim Gita. So Bhagavad Gita is something that everyone should study in any part of the world. If there's a great literature which is spoken in a particular country, then that literature becomes a historical heritage of that country. Like Shakespeare is for the English, like so many works of literature are in different countries like that for India. Bhagavad Gita should be read by everyone. It should not be limited only to the Hindus, because Bhagavad Gita was spoken at a time when there were not any other religions. He was speaking for the whole of mankind. Arjuna was the crown prince for the Puru dynasty, which was for the whole world, the whole civilized world at that time. So the Bhagavad Gita should be respected not as just a book of one religion. We may respect it as a religious text, but others that we should read it from the historical, cultural heritage point of view that what does the Bhagavad Gita have to say to humanity? The message of Bhagavad Gita, if the world today would understand even a pinch of it, we would not have to help all the wars and all the disturbances that we are having today. Bhagavad Gita gives us the solution to the world's ecological problem, to the world's major problems. You can find a solution in the pages of the Bhagavad Gita. It's a great sad thing that Bhagavad Gita is not more widely read. I was surprised to hear today from a lady, a mother, who said that she only got the Bhagavad Gita when she was in her 20s, the first time, that she, being an Indian lady, first time though she ever got a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, she was already in her 20s, maybe she had completed her university. And I meet many young people who tell me that they have never read the Bhagavad Gita. Some of them in some of the schools in India, they are memorized one or two verses, something like that. They may memorize, so they may speak.
It.
Rarely, not maybe anymore, but at least before they will do that. But they don't read the Bhagavad Gita. So we hope that all of the parents here, I want to thank you all for having your children chanting slokas in the Bhagavad Gita. Our youth who are also reading the Bhagavad Gita, this is very important that our whole new generation should grow up in that environment of Bhagavad Gita knowledge and Bhagavad Gita culture. That's something that can only do good to this world. Some of the other things which are mentioned here is that because the Bhagavad Gita is spoken by the supreme personality of God, Him, Bhagavan Sri Krishna, one need not read any other Vedic literature. One can only attentively and regularly read the bag of pizza. In the present age, people are so absorbed in different mundane activities, it's not possible for them to read all the Vedic literatures. But this is not necessary. This one book, Bhagavad Gita will suffice because it's the essence of all the Vedic wisdom and all the Vedic literatures because it's spoken by a supreme personality.
Of.
This is in the Gita Bahatm 4, in the Gita Bahatm 5 it says, 1 who drinks the water of the Gachas attains salvation. Suvatu speaks of one who drinks the nectar of Bhagavad Gita. Bhagavad Gita is the essential nectar of the Mahabharata. And it is spoken by Lord Krishna himself, the original Vishnu. The one who drinks this nectar, Gita does not take rebirth again. Ganga comes from the lotus feet of the Lord Vishnu. So we take that list to Parazalam. We take our water in our head. We drink the water. The Bhagavad Gita is coming from the mouth. It's a vibration. Bhagavad Gita is a vibration spoken by the Lord. So by the touch of the Lord's lips, just to hear the Bhagavad Gita, we get so much purification, so much blessings. We cannot begin even to start to estimate the total effect, the dynamic effect, the wonderful effect of reading the Bhagavad Gita. It's not an ordinary thing. The essence of all the Upanishads is just like a cow. And Lord Krishna, who is famous as a coward boy, is milking this cow. Arjuna is just like a calf. And learned scholars and pure devotees are to drink the nectarium milk of the Bhagavad Gita. You know that a good cow in the modern world can give even 20 leaders, 25 leaders, 30 liters, even more. More liters of milk. But the calf only brings 4, 5, maybe 2, 3L. Not so much, little bit. So most of the milk is left for others to drink. So how many of you like to drink some of this nectarian milk of Aqua Gita? How do you so that? Arjuna was very kind. He didn't drink all the milk. He left it for all of you and all of us. So Prabhupada Bhakti Ram Dal Swami, he also raised the point that in the present day people are very much eager to have one scripture, one God, one religion, one occupation. So this Gita, Mahatma 7 says, let there be one scripture, only one common scripture for the whole world. Bhagavad Gita, that there be one God for the whole world. Bhagavan Sri Krishna, Ego Mantra, Satsya Navani and one hymn, one mantra, one prayer, the chanting of his holy name, Hari Kisha Kisham. Let there be one work only, one seva only. What is that? Service of the supreme personality of Godhead. So this Bhagavad Gita is glorified throughout Puranas also. Lord Shiva was revealing to Parvati daily that each of the abdyas of the chapters of Bhagavad Gita in its own right. It's so powerful that it can deliver us from this material world and give us unlimited blessings. You know, this is the first chapter of Bhagavad Gita. What happened? Leader Astra is speaking. Leader Astra had one verse in Bhagavad Gita. One verse. This is verse three speakers. Three other speakers spoke in Bhagavad Gita. Who else spoke? Sanjay? Well, Arjuna and who else? Krishna. So Krishna, he spoke most of the verses, 745 or so verses. And then Arjuna spoke and then Sanchaya spoke. Reader Ashram1 he's asking what's happening from that one question. So many things happen, so we should also answer question. Thank you for watching our videos. Be sure to subscribe to our channel.
