20051125 || Grand welcome, Kīrtana and Bhagavad Gītā Class || Atlanta, USA #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

A multi-speaker transcript of a November spiritual gathering led by Jaya Pataka Swami in Atlanta (YouTube upload). Participants recount pilgrimage experiences on the Ganges, describing deep attachment and sensory devotional practices (japa, temple life). The group discusses how to recognize genuine devotional sentiments vs. sentimental feelings, using bhakti-yoga concepts and metaphors (light before sunrise). A substantial portion paraphrases/quotes Bhagavad Gita (chapter 15) and Srila Prabhupada's purports about Paramatma, the role of the Vedas, and how Krishna guides remembrance and future births. The chunk ends with remarks about the local gathering (Thanksgiving weekend) and a brief subscribe/closing prompt.
Okay.
Any questions?
Anybody else?
I could not.
You?
Yeah. I don't know.
You didn't feel anything?
I. I. When I went with you in Ganga for taking deep. No, I feel. But I did not go with you and suffer, you know? So you can, if you please, explain.
See the video it's going to take.
Where were you?
I repeated them.
Some of the nobody will they need to explain something special.
These are not things you can really explain. You know, once.
Living in the Ganges.
The most difficult thing to explain is when finally, after 10 days, you're leaving the Ganges and you really feel like so much.
I don't know.
You miss the Ganges so much. Maybe when you're on the Ganges, you realize, or you don't realize how wonderful it is standing and sleeping, but when you're leaving, it's like the attachment for the Ganges mother has already increased so much when you're leaving, you feel like, I don't want to leave the Ganges. I just want to stay with it always.
Yeah.
You can tell a pasta?
Sure.
That day that we were going to Kasta with a goswami.
It was a.
For pastime, because, you know, people will say, let's stop. And you say, no, keep going, keep going. And then the boats actually got stopped and. And we didn't know where we were. And then you say, okay, let's come here. And when we wake up in the morning, then we work in the temple of. And then out of the group, you know, some little pillager came and he was one disciple of yours. And then, you know, in less than 10, 15 minutes, we have like, you know, eight tractors, you know, that pull the 150 to the temple. And we have a very sati p there, all because of the, you know.
I remember we had those crazy cucumbers, the curved cucumbers. And then we had. They made a sweet rice for our Dolores, or we made it. Somehow there was sweet rice. Somehow we had sweet rice.
And then the Punjabi who was there his whole life, he recognized him. When you were there, you know, like 15 or 20 years back, he recognized you and he said, you are.
You came.
And then he took the book that, you know, he was wrapped in a little piece of cloth and he said that that piece of paper of wood written was an original.
Remember?
That sounds familiar. There's, of course the Ganges and also the places of Gormandalumi next to the Ganges are both very special.
Writing in.
The Ganges, when you're chanting your japa and the breeze and the gansoda, the japas is flow. It's very beautiful. You see in India, all the roads, they got all these tea stalls and tire repair shops and gas stations. You know, it's the kind not so beautiful. But on the Ganges it's all temples and a few factories, but it's all coconut trees and mango trees and it's very beautiful. The whole division from the Ganges, even Calcutta looks good. Hard to believe, but.
I have a question.
How, you know, like when you experience sometimes this type of, you know, happiness and prison, how do you know that it's not like, you know, sentimental, artificial feelings are, you know, actually they are, you know, symptoms of Lord for Krishna.
Love.
In the highest level. But it's what the impetus is.
Bhakti Yoga.
Bhakti has sentiments. If the sentiments are caused by ka, ka is the stimulus of that for some reasonable reason, then that's I consider to be a devotional center. You don't have to doubt somebody. Oh, Krishna's black hair. So nice to have a black horse that has that kind of hair. And some weird thing about.
It.
That kind of thing would not be. But if it's. If you just something just about Krishna, about Krishna's devotees, about some pastime that creates this sentiment, then that's considered an auspicious sentiment. And those who go deeper and deeper as you get purified when it's called Saiba, when it's fixed emotion, like you're always in some kind of spiritual bliss. That's a perfectional state. It just passes and goes.
And.
It'S not considered as profound, but it's a good symptom. It's like the light before the moon, the sunrise, a little light in the horizon, beginnings of glimpses that if you keep going then it will become risen and you get full. What you're getting is just a drop of the ocean. It's just a little light before the sun rises. When the full sunrise is total ecstasy. Pray your name.
Pray.
You know, sometimes I think that you are floating. You're not always swimming, but you are floating on the. From this divot. So how out of expectation of having this year or going.
What's your name?
You here now in front of the Atlanta Temple.
Right?
That's a different name. Shade everybody.
Biggest in our house.
Congratulations. That's what I thought you were April. What did it say?
Archimede.
It's got a simple name. Process of worship. So you're going to grooming to be a Pujari in the future.
Sam La Sa Sam Ram. It's Nama Ra. It's Ham. Ham. Ram. Ram. Sa. It's it ra.
Sudden. Any particular words?
15. 15.
Easily 15. This is Dinky. They're inside the wombirds bag. Sam Vedanta the compiler of the Vedanta, the knower of the Vedas. By His Divine grace I am seated in everyone's heart and from me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of the Vedanta and I am the Nor of the Vedas. I am situated in everyone's heart and for me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of the Vedanta and I am the knower of the Vedas. Purport by Srila Prabhupna Gym the Supreme Lord is situated as Paramatma in everyone's heart and it is from him that all activities are initiated. The living entity forgets everything of his past life. But he has to act according to the direction of the Supreme Lord who is witness to all his work. Therefore he begins his work according to his past deeds. Required knowledge is supplied to him and remembrance is given to him and he forgets also about his past life. Thus the Lord is not only all pervading, he is also localized in every individual heart. He awards the different fruits and results. He is worshipable not only as the impressive, the supreme personality of Godhead and the localized Parvatma, but as the form of the incarnation of the Vedas as well. The Vedas give the right direction to people so that they can properly mold their lives and come back to Godhead, back to home. The Vedas offer knowledge of the supreme personality of God in Ka and Ka and His incarnation as Vyasa Deva is the compiler of the Vedanta Sutra. The connotation on the Vedanta Sutra by Vyasadeva in the Srimad Bhagavatam gives the real understanding of the Vedanta to Sutra. The Supreme Lord is so full that for the deliverance of the conditioned soul he is the supplier and digester of foodstuff, the witness of his activity and the giver of knowledge in the form of Vedas and as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Ka, the teacher of the Bhagavad, he is worshipable by the conditioned soul. Thus God is all good, God is all merciful. Anta Pavista Sashta Janana Anta Pavista Sashta Janana A living entity forgets as soon as he quits his present body, but he begins his work again initiated by the Supreme Heart. Although he forgets, the Lord gives him the intelligence to renew his work where he ended his last life. So not only does the living entity enjoy or suffer in this world according to the dictation from the Supreme Lord situated locally in my heart, but he receives the opportunity to understand the Vedas from Him. If one is serious about understanding the Vedic knowledge, then Krishna gives the required intelligence. Why does he present the Vedic knowledge for understanding? Because a living entity individually needs to understand Ka. Vedic literature confirms this. Yo Sau Sarvaya Vedaya Giyati in all the Vedic literature beginning from the four Vedas, Vedanta Sutra, the Upanishads and the Puranas, the glories of the Supreme Lord are celebrated by performance of Vedic rituals. Discussion of the Vedic philosophy and worship of the Lord in devotional service he inhabitants attained. Therefore, the purpose of the Vedas is to understand Ka. The Vedas give us direction by which to understand Ka and the process of realizing Him. The ultimate goal is the Supreme Personality of Gandhi. Vedanta Sutra 1.1.4 confirms this in the following Tattu Samanu Vayat. One can attain perfection in three stages. By understanding Vedic Viduksha, one can understand his relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhood. By performing the different processes, one can approach him and at the end one can attain the Spirit Supreme Lord, who is no other than the Supreme Personality of God. In this verse, the purpose of the Vedas and the understanding of the Vedas and the goal of the Vedas I clearly define. I have seated in everyone's heart and for me come remember remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of Vedanta and I am the knower of the Vedas.
Sam.
Every one of us needs to know our relationship with Ka.
How to.
Approach Krishna and how to attain Ka. These three levels of God's realization.
Are.
Revealed by the Vedas. Vedas were written by Krishna. They are known by Krishna and by Krishna's desire they are being disseminated. Nowadays.
There are so much.
Information. This is called the Information Age. But what is the information about it? That's another question. The information that people need to know is this. Who they are in relationship with the Supreme Lord. Absolute Truth. How they can approach the Absolute Truth and how they can attain it. Deaths the secret of Bhagavad Gita this is the 15th chapter. 15 chapter is called Purushottam Yoga. It's the Yoga of the absolute Truth. The supreme Pass in Puru Shotam Purush Uttama. The Supreme Person. So the Supreme Lord gives us the freedom in this material world to function. And Prabhupada very nicely explained how we take a birth, we grow, we act in different. We have so many desires and then we leave our body. And we had to leave behind us our house, our cars, our children, our grandchildren. All the things we left behind, we had, we had to leave behind. And then we take the again. And we don't remember in most cases. Very rarely does anyone remember.
One in.
A million maybe what happened in a previous life. How do we start up again? It says the Supreme Lord as super soul, as Paramottima. He guides us. What we did, how we can go on where we left off. The Krishna is so kind that he gives us intelligence. I remember once Prabhupada was saying a famous sitar player. He was sitar player for seven births and the seventh birth. He became world famous sitar player for birth after birth. He wanted to be better Sitar better, better, better. So someone they may be scientists from any births. Or someone may be businessmen. We see all this person only for one life. We see their activities. We don't know what they did before. In some cases there may be good karmas or there may be bad karmas in the past. Different kinds of desires. So Ka gives us the free will. He gives us ideas. He gives us intelligence how to fulfill our unfulfilled desires. Okay, last life. He wanted to be a sitar player. Okay, this life puts out remembrance. He wanted to learn sitar. I want to learn satire.
Mommy.
Maybe you're born in a family of sitarblades. I don't know. I was reading that there are scientists over different themes and subjects. And one scientist is the world famous expert on cockroaches. These are curious life to studying the cockroach. And he knows exactly as much as anybody and more about cockroach Tatua. He says he has great respect for them. Of course the only one that wants to hire him for his knowledge of the people that exterminate Kakarot. So I have to stop them. So I wonder what his next life is going to be. Some things like things get balanced out. So what's very important that we in our life keep thy spiritual goal and the forefront that will take us on to a higher and higher birth. If we focus our consciousness on actually achieving Ka then we can achieve Ka even in one lifetime. Ka status in Bhagavad. Gita thinking about me at the time of death, they achieve me, they don't take birth again. Mohsun gives him devotional service using their mind, intelligence and their senses in serving Ka. When their activities are because they're fixed on Ka, they are in the transcendental level. And they don't have to take birth again because intentions until they're in the spiritual platform Brahmavaraya life is spiritualized. So while we're doing our material work, we have so many work today. They wanted to show me how.
This was.
The big shopping day of the year. So we went to one shop. It was very bewildering for me, but everyone was. We missed the biggest rush. But the people were rushing to buy their things before noon. I was thinking how if we had so much eagerness in this lifetime, we want to achieve Krishna that is lacking. We're blessed here by this presence. Not only we got two swamis here.
And.
Several how many disciples. This is a special gathering on the Thanksgiving weekend. So we would be lost without Krishna's guidance. Ka is very neutral. For if we want to be a sitar player or a scientist or a businessman or something, he'll guide us like that. Sometimes some cryas, they get short tempered with Krishna. I don't know if it's right or wrong. But Krishna, why you allow us to be wandering in this material world? But like this, he should take us back to you. But Krishna, he is very neutral. Samya Yato. This is a verse known as virgin. He is very sambanta, very equal. You want to get back to him. He will give you remembrance from him. You want to forget him. He will give you forgetfulness from him. There are many people in the world, they want to be atheists, they want to forget Krishna. So then he helps them to forget him. But they're not able to forget him. They're always talking about the non existence of God. If someone doesn't exist, why you want.
To talk about it all?
So.
