20051126 || Visiting Chiropractic Dr. Vijaya Viṣṇu Dāsa - Tenn. & House Program || Atlanta, USA

Transcript of a November 2005 multi-speaker video featuring Jaya Pataka Swami, Prabhu, and chiropractor Dr. Vijaya Vishnu. The group discusses a chiropractic treatment (atlas/neck adjustment and its effects on spine/leg length), a Thanksgiving-era outreach program in Tennessee (house-to-house visits, temple programs), and spiritual reflections on gratitude, Srila Prabhupada, and Vaishnava cultural practices. The tone blends medical explanation, devotional commentary, and community updates.
Hare Krishna, can you tell us what's going on? Hare Krishna Mataji, can you tell us what is going on?
Yes, we are here in Tennessee. We came to see one of our brothers who is a chiropractor and he is going to try to help char us back.
Okay, can you tell us more about the program and.
Yeah, we've been trying for two and a half hours and we're going to be here. He's going to help a char. And then after that we're going to go to his house and we're going to help one more time. We are going to take advantage of the mercy. Now he's in the front. He's talking with somebody. We are here in the back of the car.
How many days have you this program.
Has been going on since Thanksgiving. He arrived at 10 o' clock in the morning. Then he started the safari. He came to my house first. So glad. Then he went to Mitra Binda's house to see her husband who now is initiated. And then he went to your house for the first time. And he took Italian lunch. Beautiful cannoli salad. Subject with olives and cheesecake. Famous cheesecake made by guy Latino De Nice and turned you can see who a Maruchian it is.
You are looking at him.
So we are good. We are happy.
So it was a sad.
It was very nice. Then Second day was the second time of the safari. We went to Opera House and then we went to Ekosi Shakti and then we had a program with Satyavan. That's a big house.
We had lunch. We had lunch.
And also on Thanksgiving night. Thanksgiving night after the temple program, we went to about seven, eight houses in Camelot. All the Bengali devotees.
It's a pretty good big community.
Iskcon Camelot?
Okay.
That.
Okay, sure.
In the purple bag there is a white plastic bag with Guru Maharaj calls.
For the.
They can work out while they're. We are in the studio of a famous chiropractor, Vijaya Vishnu. He's the grasta who is gonna austin Guru Maharaj for the last trip of the Safar Atlanta Safar in 2005. Left side IRS, right side mortgage. Lower back teenagers right back carry the shop. The world is we're here spiritual world.
By explaining how this works. Okay. Usually due to some sort of injury, this top vertebra in the spine under the skull is displaced. Okay. And what that does basically is it the head is now unlevel or slightly tipped. Then the shoulders will begin to compensate for that tipping here. Then the hips Begin to compensate for the shoulder. Okay. That pulls one hip up, draws the leg short, and the whole spine now begins to curve. Scoliosis. This sets into motion muscle spasms, muscle tightness and deterioration in the whole spine. So the whole idea here is to level the atlas like this, so that the head is now level. Then the shoulders become level, then the hips become level and the legs are now even. Okay. And the spine corrects like this takes all the unnecessary stress and pressure off the whole spine.
Okay.
The spine becomes now straight. Okay.
So.
So quite often we can correct abnormal curves using this technique. We can take scoliosis, make it straight. We can take a military neck, and we can correct that and bring back the normal curve as it should be.
So how did you find Guru Maharaj?
Well, I found basically that he's got a problem in the neck area up in here which is actually affecting all the way down to the lower back. Okay. So he does have a. He does have an atlas displacement and it's affecting his whole spine like this here.
Can you tell us your name?
Prabhu.
I'm sorry, your name? Vijay Yavishnu.
Thank you. You're welcome.
So now we're looking over here. Sometimes I'll take a photo to show a person, you know, see how much difference between right and left. You see, this is the right heel. Left heel. You see the difference? That's a good. How many lines is that? One, two, almost three lines difference there. See? Look straight down. You see?
Yeah.
Well, I'm talking about the difference in the leg length. You see, you bring the leg a little closer. You see what I'm saying? The difference in leg length there. It should be even good. Half inch.
A little more.
Okay, then this one's short. Then we palpate the neck to see if there's any tender areas there. And we make a note of which area is tender. Then when we do the adjustment, the leg should come even and the tenderness should subside. That's what we're going to do next. Right there and about down in the lower part here. More tender down here. Then it is up here. More so right here. Right there. So would you say that this is the most tender down here on the right or more so on the left? Right here.
It was very tender. You hit a plane down here. It was like an airplane.
Yeah, Right in here.
Right there. Okay.
So it's midway in the neck.
Can you inject Prema Bantu?
Can you imagine? You can.
This bone right here called the mastoid. And that's where you should feel Your head resting. When I get you in the correct position, the last about that, that's where it should rest.
On that bone.
Not on the neck, not on the jaw. More forward, but right here. Behind here.
The right pocket, bro.
Is it more on the neck?
Resonate macrophage here.
NASCAR is the bone behind the ear, right? Yeah. A little bit long. You know, that's because I know then that's a real good adjustment. But yeah, it's about even right now. So in just a few minutes. We usually give it about three minutes and then we check that tender spot. The tender spot should be better.
Was your neighbor. One of these atlas adjustments lasted how long? Half an inch.
I had four people who I adjusted one time and didn't have to be readjusted for a month. Now I've had other people who I adjusted and then two, three days later I had to readjust and I've had other people. I had one person. I adjusted only one time and after three months they were still holding.
I thought one time, the last for like six years or something.
And tell me how that feels right there.
But there a little above.
That was a little thing for me. Let's compare to before. Am I better than before? Okay, good.
Where's your mouth from? Where's your mouse?
We only X ray for bone and the dose is smaller. And this is a high frequency unit. So that also gives you a much smaller dose than a regular X ray.
Limbs.
Okay, so what we're going to do is we're going to check to see if the neck curve has changed because quite often we'll see a change on the neck curve. Just facing sideways this way.
Jai, how are you? Oh, fine.
Anybody else in the other provinces are being inspired?
South India? There are six.
How are you?
Happier too. Your brother's been taking care of us all afternoon. I was asking about you.
Sa. It's Ram. It's. It's. It's. It's Ram. It's It Nit.
Sat Savior.
Sam.
So this weekend we're celebrating Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is part of the Vaishnava culture because we appreciate that Krishna. He is providing us everything we should be grateful.
For.
The material existence. He's providing all the ingredients is the primary favor. Srishti S Devi Praya is now under his direction. Spiritual life. We're just testing how we get so much. We got so much from Krishna, from Lord Shakanda, from the Guru Parampara, from the sibling succession. How many of you chant Hare Krishna? Everyone from Hare Krishna. Anybody knows? All seasoned. How many are you seeing. So you are taking that especially because here, this was the New World. People who came here were called pilgrims because they were searching for some spiritual paradise and spiritual environment. The original settlers that came to America were very Puritan Christians who only read the Bible were very strict in their beliefs. They're told historically they were like that. That's why they didn't fit into England so well. It was more loose. And they were called Puri Tug. Well, that same leader is not there anymore. But their takasyas maybe why the English society here is doing better anyways. But they were thanking God for.
Their.
Blessings that they had. So this was a Thanksgiving season. We are thinking that in our culture that you see when a spiritual master leaves that time you think about all the things he contributed. You're in separation and you're glorifying. Sometimes in his appearance state, we also glorify the spiritual master and his vyasa puja. Most of the times when we express gratitude, sometimes when God wears the for us, we don't do only one day. In the Vedic culture, we follow thanksgiving throughout the year. Here so many days we have in Bengali they say bara Mahs Terokarva. 12 months, 13 festivals. We have so many different. The principle is the same. We have unity and diversity. Our principles we should express our gratitude. So we fix up a particular vein. Generally, some Hindus verify the guru like Guru Purnima. But for the Vaishnavas, we do it on his birthday. The Saharan state and Sadhyasa Puja.
And.
The other Americans, they are avatar Samaritan state Ramana Lami. We were just observing the last five days of Bishop of Dharmadhar month, Kartika month as Bhishma Panchaka. There we were remembering Bheeshma Babe and we're offering our gratitude and our prayers and our karpana to him for fighting fasting this time, first of all, boots. So this part of our culture to express gratitude.
Sometimes.
When it's somebody's birthday, then people like to share just generally people's birthday. They like to share some of the good qualities of the person who gives purchase. So I was thinking that here we're in new world India is the old. They say Europe is the old land, but actually India is the ancient land. We think all the cultures originally come from India.
And.
That wasn't being broadly to the West. It was brought by different people, but somehow didn't take root. The Prabhupada, he brought pure Samatan Dharma Lashnav called Shaheen to the West. Anyways, background Siddhana Sikh. Nothing formal here, really informal. There was one follower of Lord Chaitanya. His name was Vasu Dosh. He was a very great singer. So when Lord Chaitanya left then he sang a song that what if Lord Chaitanya had not come here? If there was no Goranga then what would happen? Who would have brought us the chanting of Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Hare Hare. Who would have told us about Raana and Krishna Jugal last times? Who would have revealed to us Vrindavan. It's a very beautiful song. Very deep appreciation of all the contributions Lord Chaitanya gave to the world. So we were thinking we were having this kind of class and mantra. The Prabhupada came from the west and he brought Bhagavad Gita. He brought Srimad Bhagavadam here to the west. We did so many things for us, established our Ka Conscious temple. What maybe you can think what are a few things that you can think of as Prabhupada as contributors and you're.
Grateful for.
The sense of compassion for.
The.
Was always so compassionate towards everybody.
Yeah.
Mercy. Any prejudice to do any cast color green background. What else? After Lord Krishna Mahapu Prabhupada actually started Hare Krishna moment here in Western world.
And if you teaching.
I could come here probably.
Wonderful.
Maybe I'll get some Pascado too. Shamma, what's Shema? This is just a simple thing, but I was bathing Srila Prabhupda on the.
Altar this morning and I was realizing and appreciating just how wonderful cleanliness was. Because cleanliness, we've always heard is next to godliness. It is godliness.
The knowledge about God, about ourselves, about our last relationship with him.
Krishna.
What else? Here from Tennessee. Cooking offering Anything else?
Eating. What else?
What are you grateful for Prabhupada bringing here today? What has he brought that we remember Krishna's name every moment like we remember Krishna's moment by chanting in Krishna's name every moment.
I'm grateful because I never met Prabhupada but he had such an impression on my father that he actually my father was able to take initiation from Chitut Maharaja and by setting up here I get association of holinesses of herself and other devotees. I have a lot of farther up the night.
You already said new stores, new gas.
I never met Sa.
Sam the beautiful form of. Beautiful forms of the baby.
We control.
But I will never know the purpose of human life. Purpose of human life Never got the answer to that. 4, 16, 12. And you know, they cost $5 each, so you can get 5 for 20.
All right.
And you know, the last thing was for the production of, you know, DVDs like that. It has some DVDs if somebody wants.
To purchase, you know, if somebody wants.
But then they had released yesterday. So, you know, you will be the first person to watch. God Brothers.
