20070330 || Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 2.9.3 (Getting free from I & Mine) || Śrī Māyāpur, India

A recorded lecture (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 2.9.3) by Jaya Pataka Swami delivered in Śrī Māyāpur that explains how a living being transcends the twin misconceptions of “I” and “mine” through devotional service (bhakti) and surrender to Krishna. The speaker contrasts lower (body/possessions/caste/nation) and higher (I-am) forms of ego, emphasizes that true selfhood is “I am the eternal servitor of the Lord,” cites Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam authority, and uses examples and anecdotes (animals, yogis, Ramanuja, Kumbh Mela, household and temple practices) to illustrate how identification shifts from body/mind to spiritual servitude and bliss. The talk also contrasts theistic (eternal soul, servitude) and Buddhist nihilist views and mentions practical devotional practices: hearing scripture, association of devotees, chanting (harinam), and temple life.
It's. It's. It's It. It's Sam. And soon as a living entity becomes situated in his constitutional glory and begins to enjoy the transcendence beyond time and material energy, he at once gives up. The two misconceptions of life, I and mine thus becomes fully manifested as the pure self as soon as the living entity becomes situated and thus becomes fully manifest as the viewer self, as the viewer soul. Report by Sundar the two misconceptions of life being the I and mind are barely manifested in two classes of limit. In the lower state the conception of mind is very prominent. The higher state of this conception of I is prominent. The animals take of light. The misconception of mind is perceivable even in the category of cat who fight with one another with the same misconception of mind. The lower saints of human life the same misconception is also prominent in the shape of it is my body, it is my house, it is my family, it is my cast, it is my nation, it is my country. So ever met anybody that says that? In the higher states of speculative knowledge, the sages conception of mind is transformed into I am, it is all I am, etc. There are many classes of men comprehending the same misconception of I and mind in different colors. But the real significance of I can be realized only when one is situated in the consciousness of I am the eternal servitor of the Lord, this is the pure consciousness and the holy literature teach us this conception of life. I am the eternal servitor of the Lord. A misconception of I am the Lord or I am the supreme is more dangerous than the misconception of might. Although there are sometimes directions in the Vedic literature to think oneself honor the Lord, that does not mean that one becomes identical with the Lord in every respect. Not only there is oneness of the living entity with the Lord in many respects, but ultimately the living entity is subordinate to the Lord and he is constitutionally meant for satisfying the consent of the Lord. The Lord therefore has the condition of souls to reap to surrender unto. Had the living entities not been subordinate to the supreme will, why would the living entity be as his surrender? Had the living entity been equal in all respects, then why was he put under the influence of Maya? We have already discussed many times that the material energy is controlled by the Lord. The Bhakua Gita verse chapter 9, verse 10 confirms his controlling power of the Lord over the material nature. A living entity who claims to be as good as the supreme Being control the material nature. The foolish hive would be fine that he will do so in the future. Even accepting that in the future one will be as good a controller of material nature as there may be, then why one is now under the control of material nature? Why? The Bhagavad Gita says that one can be free from the control of the material nature by surrendering unto the Supreme Lord. But if there is no surrender, then the living entity will never be able to control the material nature. So one must also give up this misconception of I by practicing the way of devotional service or firmly being situated in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. So one must give up this misconceptional I by practicing the way of devotional service or firmly being situated in the penance and the loving service of the Lord. A poor man without any employment or occupation may undergo so many troubles in life. But if by chance the same man gets a good service under the government, he at once becomes happy. There is no profit in divine the supremacy of the Lord who is the controller of all energies. But one should be constitutionally situated in one's own glory, mainly to be situated in a pure consciousness of being, the eternal servitor of the Lord. In his conditional life the living entity is servant of the illusory Maiar who and in his liberated state is the pure this conditional life, a living entity, the servant of the Huzrimaya. In his liberated state he is the pure unqualified servant of as long as one is servant of mental concoctions, one cannot be completely free from the disease of I and mind. The Supreme Truth is not contaminated by the illusory energy because he is the controller of the energy. The Supreme Truth is not contaminated by the Hoosier energy because he is the controller of that energy. The relative truths are apt to be engrossed in illusory energy. The best purpose is served, however, when one is directly facing the Supreme Truth, as when one faces the sun. The sun overhead in the sky is full of light, but when the sun is not in the visible sky, all is in darkness. Similarly, when one is face to face with the Supreme Lord, he is free from all illusions and one who is not so is in the darkness of illusory mind. Bhagavad Gita 14:26 construct this as follows. So the science of Bhakti Yoga are worshipping the Lord, glorifying the Lord, hearing the Srimad Bhagavata from the right sources, not from professional man, but from high aversive wisdom, Aquasm in life and being always in the association of pure devotees should be adopted in earnestness. One should not be misled by the misconceptions of eye and mind. The Karmis are fond of the Karmis are fond of the conception of mind. The Gandhis are part of the conception of I. Both of them are unqualified to be freed from the bondage of material energy, illusory energy. Srima Bhagavata and primarily the Bhagavad Gita are both meant for delivering a person from the misconception of I and I am conscribe them for the deliverance of fallen souls. The living entity has to be situated in that vasile position where there is no more influence of time nor of the material energy in conditioned life. The living entity is subjected to the influence of time in the dream of past, present and future. The mental spectator tries to conquer the influence of time by future speculation or becoming Vasudeva or the Supreme Lord himself by means. The perfect process is to reshet Lord Vasuda as the supreme in everything, in the best perfection. Encountering knowledge is to surrender unto him because he is the source of everything. Only in that conception can one get rid of the misconception of Ayan and Maya, both Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhaizama firmly Masuneva has specifically contributed to the illusory illusion, living entities, the science of God and the process of Bhakti Yoga and his great literature. Srimad Bhagavatam unconditional self and the conditioned soul should fully take advantage of this great science. So that ends the prayer point. 3 pages Chapter 2 rather Canto 2, Chapter 9, Text 3. Srimad Bhagavatam answers by citing the Lord's version. Probably forgot what the verse was after all that workforce. As soon as the living entity becomes situated in his constitutional glory and begins to enjoy the transcendence beyond time and the material nature energy, it once gives up the two misconceptions of life, I and mine and thus becomes fully manifest as the pure self. Interesting examples given here. Look to the sun, you see a shadow. You see shadow when it behave like the sun. What shadow do you see looking to the sun? Look away from the sun, look the lighter. Look away shadow. Krishna Surya sama Krishna is like the sun. Maya is like the darkness. Jaha Krishna Saham Maya Nahi Adhikara. Where there's Ka, there's no darkness. Where there's darkness, there's no Kaaba mentioned. Look to the sun, no darkness. People are looking to Krishna. Everything is revealed very quickly. Looking to the material nature, this maze nature is the illusory potency of Ka Praki under my control. This material nature is under my control. That's why Krishna, he does again illusion. It's his illusion. He's the magician. Magicians don't get bewildered by their own magic but they bewilder other people because they know the tricks. Krishna has his illusory energy and that is conditioning us because verses we get conditioned like I am mine, this is me, I am the body, this is mine. This is my country. This is my car, my house, my computer. We don't have this mind. So these are the two illusions. We are experiencing transcendental bliss on the transcendental platform. We start to lose this identification with I am mind. So it is very easy to transcend I am mind by achieving spiritual realization. Trying to get rid of I am mind. Theoretically in the path the surrounded Ka becomes very easy. The ones this Maya body is sitting Mayanpur. He had a big turban. He told one of the ISKCON preachers that I am God. I am God. So then they just said well there's a difference between you and God. He said no, there's no difference. I am God. The teacher took his turban joy in the lobby river. What had he done? Built my turban in the river. People get so much attached my bodies they're really into this mind body. When I met one of the Shankaracharyas for some problems and he had a beautiful Radha and Krishna deity. So I asked him that so you're worshipping Radha and Krishna? He said I worship him myself. So how do you say worshipping yourself? I am Radharak. So beautiful. You're all Buddha. Look so beautiful. He said that's my Leela. We hear the words of the Maya bodies. We're going to hear our princes. They say so many offenses to mission. They have their. They want to believe that they are Krishna. You're walking down the street and then there's. Sometimes you come into this situation where dogs start barking Rufru, this is my house. Get away. There was once a dog following us. There were some other dogs on the street then they were barking at him, you know like this is my area, don't come here at least it seems like then he ran back with us though and the dog kept away. So the dogs I have there, this is mine. We hear that the monkeys they get alpha monkey and beta monkey males. The alphas think they possess all the female Monkeys. If a beta monkey comes, they beat them up. Unless they have to come pick out lights from their back, show them that they're serving. So high boy looked being an animal. Being human beings. That's what we do. Especially when we think that this material world is mine and or we think that I am God. Brahma Lokshacharya was listening as some strict gurus and he was massaging his leg. The Sanskrit guru quoted a verse. What said verse was Kapila, Kapala something. A word that means lotus. But if you translate it another way, it means monkey ass. So he translated it. Krishna is like the red. The red of Krishna's hand, the red of his face or something. Lord, his feet are like the red color of a particular kind of monkey. Herein. When they heard that Ramanuja started crying. The Lord is the Vaishnava. How is he offending the Lord? How is he calling him such a horrible thing? And then the guru said, why is water falling on my lane? He said, why are you crying? The way you translated that verse caused me great pain. What's wrong with my translation? Then he translated it the right way. That means the barn. As the Lord is king, then the Mayavadi guru. God envious. This guy is a Vaishnava. My student is a Vaishnava. He's the greater scholar than I am. If we don't eliminate him, he's going to, you know, defeat our other Ayavadian scholars. So they made a plan to burn a Ravanujan couple plans. One plan that took him out in the forest. Govinda dance. But Govinda Ramaducha was collecting almonds. Some of his relatives were influenced to give him poison. So when he came to their house, they gave him a pot of food that had poisoned food in it. Somehow it slipped from his hand and fell on the ground. And a cat came up and ate the food right in front of Ramanuchen. And the cat died. He lost his appetite. Plate of masala with dynamite as a plate. Then he stopped eating. Raju just had to know. Eating chest. His own relative was poisoned and he ended up. By that time he had some disciples with the noble trust and his mother. He had many gurus. The mother Shiksha guru came and he heard he was coming kind of in the middle of the dry riverbed of that Kaveri river. It's very hot in Tamil Nadu, Sriranga in the summer. And the river dries up and just becomes a little trickle. The rainy season. It's even worse now because they have dams left so much water in them. But here, 500 years ago was also a big pot in the riverbed. The middle of the bed from the new channel. Paid his obeisances with his open chest. And all his disciples renovations is on the sand. They're all burning hot sand with the one by one they all got up. You saw Ramanuja still there, paying obeisance to his guru. And they all imagined how much he's burning, how much he's suffering. So one disciple laid down next to Ramadhua, picked him up and put him over on top of him so that Ramamuja wouldn't be burning in sand. And the guru said, okay, that disciple is good for you. Because his pain, the pain of the guru was more intolerable for him than his own pain could understand. I think that his guru is sufferings when he looked at pain himself. Just like Lord Chaitanya when he was fighting South India and he met the Buddhists between India Buddhism. It's very logical to a certain point. But the Buddhists don't believe in the soul, spiritual soul, eternal soul or eternal supreme being. So there are certain arguments that if the game depends, Buddhists want to dismantle the eye. When you no longer exist, that's perfection. We become nothing. Thailand reading some Buddhist books to see what they're going to do. Showing this one guy, he was a prince. He was enjoying at night, took birth as a princess. She was enjoying. She grew up on back again she died. Her birth is abandoned. This time again was enjoying when she became a Mon. Back and forth, joined boga, khaki, kaga. Finally they got so disgusted with the material world that they became a star. They became a bond. Finally became a star in the sky. Blinking, you know, whatever the star is your twinkling. And said that one day the star went out. No more twinkle, no more light. Perfection. That's Buddhist perfection. It's like a suicide deceased to exist. That's not our permission. That's not what Bhagwat tells us. It says here, when you realize your full spiritual glory and you're in transcendence, then you automatically lose this identity with I. But that doesn't mean you cease to exist. You lose the material identification of I. But the spiritual baham is there that I am the servant of Mishtra. That identification is not a problem with spiritual life. So we start to identify now that I am the servant of Krishna. We can immediately start feeling transcendental bliss. That bliss is not based on this is buying or this is me. I am God, I am nothing. I am the servant of Krishna. That's the aham. Here in Mayanpur. In the beginning we lived in the grass high. The people would come. Not many people would come. The Prophet said that this grand harness in the mortal witness is good enough for our spiritual practices. But for preaching we need to have nice guest houses. Nice for Sundays. I don't know if we had grands huts here. How many do in common today? Some of you like grands huts, some stay in. We have still a few grandsons here. Some of the coffee came out like who's here? Some people like it, but most devotees prefer one single one grand number one chakra facilitate the devotees. Rabbi wanted us to build his building. They said to build out of bricks, stones, concrete, steel. This is in the mode of pass living. Grasshop is more a good place and even more of goodness. They have this possession one time. The witcher of Kahaba in Calcutta. We're waiting for the train to either go to Alma Baghdad or the Kupamela this year. Next year 2007, January 14 starts Ardha Kumba Mela in prayer. 1971 we went to the Arda Kumba Mela Sudhrapan. There was 21 million people there. In 1977, the Poorna Cuba there were 31 to 31 million. You see almost the same amount as Ayurveda. Like that goes every six years. Every 12 years is Purna Mukba and the six years in between is Ardha Kumbha. Arda means Alphabet. So if you're going to be around in India and want to see the biggest festival on earth, spiritual religious gathering, put it in your calendar. Aga Kumba Mela we're discussing. We have a tent camp there where the feature will be have big hari namas. That place is filled with all different kinds of yogis. This one yogi said to be 300 years old. He never touches the ground. I don't know what happens if he touches the ground. But he always lives. He always lives and never touches the ground. He was given Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavad Gina. He was marked by getting all his followers to fight Bhagawad Gita. He was Bhagawad Gina lower. But some of these yogis are real yogis and some are bogi yogis. There's all kinds of people there run strong. There was the one guy with a pig with his hands like this. He's been meditating so long that his fingernails grew off the other side of his hand. They come down from The Himalayas they did just at that momurta. When the nectar falls, says the father of Ghana, Matari every 12 years and 6 years lots of nectar. At specific times they come down, dip in this river, come up hundreds of kilometers away, another sacred river. Dip down another one, dim them all the rivers against Prophet. What are we doing here? So we're here to get association with the silence. Then we realized the Prophet was there to give association. So many people come there to get sadhu. Like a big supermarket of sadhus. He was there and people are coming to meet him. That's how we started Malaysian Yatra. Some very aristocratic Hindus who Malaysia came invited rabbi to come. He went to Malaysia. Hare Krishna movement started there. Now he had 25 temples, thousands of devotees. The sadhus bathe early in the morning. Cold in early January and alaba may be 3 degrees centigrade, 40 degrees Fahrenheit again. Take ashes and put the ashes on their body. That's their morning cloth and ashes. You call their Brahmachines. Raise it early in the morning. Interesting. We're going to do a big Hari Nama there. Equal aid. Hari Nama. Hari Nama group distribution. So if anybody likes to do Hari Nama group distribution planning, going to the Kumbamela for two weeks has the like this. He just giving people the holy name. People chant Hare Krishna, feel spiritual bliss and what lots of preaching, lots of talking can do. It will take a long time. Very quickly people can realize I'm not the body. I'm feeling spiritual happiness of chanting. It's not physical, it's not mental. It's something that you can't even explain. Cheetah Dev was preaching like that to the Buddhist. But then I got enemies with them. And these were his big words rather than a selfie. Whoever used to be thousands of years ago, whoever had a better idea, he accepted him. Maybe until that point we were in a particular faith, particular understanding. That was the best you have come. Someone tells you something better, makes more sense. Then you accept that it was like a free market on spiritual knowledge. Then as how you come to regrets. People became sectarian in this religion or in that religion. And even if someone had a better idea, they thought I'm this religion, I've never had a idea is a threat to my religion and for I should kill him. So then the Buddhists also brought poisoned food. The poison Chittenden Mahatma. They offered a big plague eat this joy. When the big bird flew out, picked out the plague, dropped it on the head of the holiest guru. He fell by Francis and his disciples said save him, save him. Lord Chetra means that Chandarakrishna will be saved Sister Chandi, Hare Krishna is here and he revived and he was saved so that way the disciples became a mantra Guru I'm the good of they initiated him in people that come to the holy dove they bathe in the holy rivers but they don't approach the people who are learning transcendental science and they were like as good as animals like fowl goes and babies in the river what's the point we made in the river get purified we come to the holy mountain Here we have our mihe students they're coming to hear from experienced teachers, advanced devotees to learn about ka consciousness that's the purpose of the holy vow to ask questions, to hear not just to bathe firstly also bathe do our worship the Ganges we also come and listen these are very important verses you get over this high and Maya identification you come to the identification I am a servant of Krishna like Lord Chitanga said Hamnyasi no deeper I'm not a sutra, I've had a and the servant of the servant of the servant of the husband of the Gobis that's the consciousness we want I went into Krishna Nagar here in the old days I rode on my bicycle I went to pick up something printed for a festival so I went to the printers and I was waiting because before me there was a school teacher and he was printing the school paper for the Bengali medium second brain exam I'm not a rainbow for that time second I see your exam paper question number two was to my Ki purichoi blank lines right now the tumar means your he means what? Purechoi means your identity, your introduction something like that, why? So I was curious I asked what question? What do you have to write down to get a proper brain? Asul Krishna can tell us whether what we have to get to get the proper grain of this question in NIH There are a few tips here but then the teacher said oh no, I was saying I am a Bengali, I am an Indian in other words you have to write I am this body, this is my country, this is my identification so this Ahab Mama I said what have you put down that I am the spirit soul no, no, you fail Krishna Das everyone are Krishna so our education is a little different than the outside introduce but this is the problem right from the school days, right from second graders of being from you're a Bengali, you're an Indian, you're a you're this body. If we want to be taught at all that I am the eternal server of Krishna, I have a bottle. In Bengali when people come and greet each other, sometimes they say right. Is that correct? Who says it's correct? What does that mean? Sumar means your to me is you to r is your. Sariya means body. Other word we use also in five. How is your body? How is your body? How is your body Doing so Then the languages right now that we say Namaste which means outer spectrum and super soul in Yash. That's one word again. How is your body? So I have a body. I not the body but I have a body. I am this Krishna da. If I have a body, I can take care of my body and use it in Ka service. But it is nay. That's just how the language. How is your body? We're in the west. How are you? They answered, oh I'm feeling good. Are you healthy? Yeah, I'm healthy. So everything identifying that I am the body, I am healthy, I am doing okay. Where the Indian perspective the ancient was that you are the atma, the alibi. How is your body? Atma is okay. Atma is always okay. The body may be sick healthy. We want to gradually change our orientation. So that we see that I am this spirit, soul, living force. I once walked in the room, Prabhupada was talking to my poor Vajra mother. And it was explained there. You see, there is a living force in the body. Everybody has a living force. You understand that you are the living force. When you leave the body, what do you live? Yesterday Mata Sachi left her body before we saw her so many times. So beautiful, smiling, chanting. When she left, the body wasn't the same. She left chanting, right? She was. All other bodies were changing sacred accuracy. Since she surely went back to Gaup. You can also say a friend of thank you for watching our videos. Be sure to subscribe. Subscribe to our channel.
