Jaya Pataka Swami delivers a spiritual discourse on the challenges of spiritual leadership, the guru's role in caring for disciples, and the importance of delegation within the devotional community. Recorded in Mayapur, India, the talk reflects on building temples and supporting devotees through devotional practice.
Like that, like what should have he didn't. He also had hands on work. He was translating his books. But he had a very good system. No email. All good secretaries who ran, answered the, answered the mail. He would dictate and they went just to give a little bit indication what he wanted. And then people would write that. So now that I'll be spending more time in Mayapur, see more of the Mayapur devotees and maybe we can also organic system how to take care of. I'm not giving up, still trying. I need all of devotees patience and help also because now the most important thing that Prabhupada asked me to do was help in building the big temple of Mayapur that's coming up. That's definitely going to take some energy. We're going to do something by night. At the same time Prabhupada told me many things. I'm still going to be visiting people all over the world. I'm still going to visiting people all over my zone. Just a little bit adjusting the percentages. So I need the help also from all the other devotees from the duo. First try to get your questions answered from senior Godbrothers, God sisters, spiritual uncles, older cousin brothers. Then if you can sometimes they'll be here like we'll have question and answer that you can ask to your heart's content. You have the opportunity to ask and you can ask. Don't think that if for any reason sometime there's a delay like the last two months I haven't answered emails as I was in the middle of a festival and been so far maybe 10 emails I answered out of thousands. It's not that I don't answer emails. Maybe there's 30,000 letters I write a year. 15,000, I get 30,000. So $15,000 something. I don't know all the statistics. So Bhakti Siddhartha said he had 10,000 disciples. We heard that he had for he had like a counselor group type situation or for every so many disciples there was a Upadesha, one counselor, one guide. And for so many guides there was a Maha Upadesha who would guide the guides. And then for all the Mah Upadeshas there was one Maha Mah Upadesha, one guy left. So all the guiding in here was going on through a delegated system. When some question came up would come that nobody else would answer come up to him that he'd give the answer. So there's ways of doing things. Prabhupada, he was here in Mayanthur. He would keep One hour or two hours a day when there was open door policy, anybody could come and things like that time when they do get a chance for personal association. Sometimes I want to speak alone. Prophet said, these are all confidential devotees. We do this that all of us, all the, especially the gurus, it's their duty to take care of devotees and everyone who is like what you tend to order everyone to be a guru. So that means you all have to lead, become responsible to help those who come to us for help. I'm not making, I don't want to make any excuses. I want to just say this is the challenge I'm faced with and working on. I think part of the solution is a lot of help from everyone which I have been giving a lot. I appreciate that very much. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the senior godbrothers, God sisters, my God, my God brothers who have been helping our disciples and all the temple presidents. Sometimes it's a thankless task to give people counseling, give them guidance. They don't always appreciate or follow. So I appreciate them very much. Somehow we want to get all these devotees back to Ka. You see, like I was reading once the Mahatmi of this Akadas. He calmed our Kadas and Yudhish. There came the Ka for guidance. He wanted to know what was the glories of this Akash. And then Vishnu told you this theory. Well, this was explained by Vishishta Muni at some other time to somebody. Then he explained that there was in Gandharva Loka another planetary system in the universe. There was a husband and wife, one beautiful Apsara called Lalita and Darva Apsara. And the husband was Lalit, Lalit and Lalita. And they loved each other like anything passionately they were attached to each other. They were intensely enjoying their family life. Frequently for some reason there was a visit from another, from the Naga Loka, another planetary system where all snake entities live. And Lalit was requested to come and sing for them. But he was so much passionately attached to his wife while he was singing for this King of the Knox or Head of the Knox. That supernatural power wasn't like some ordinary little slithering snake. He's a very highly intellectually developed, mystically powerful personality, divine snake. So while he was singing some well known Sanskrit Genshin song, he was blowing the verses saying Ra this night because he had mystical powers. He checked out what is this? What's wrong with this Vandarba? Why doesn't he sing the songs right? And then my God. He's thinking about having, you know, relations with his wife. Lusting after his wife while he's trying to give me some holy kinship. This person is a really fallen person. You can see here this mischief. So then he cursed to you rascal, you're beating me and you're messing up the verses and you're just thinking about your wife. I curse you to be a Raksha Shah. You will wander the earth and you'll be the theme and you'll be man eater cannibals. So they fell down from upside vodka and swanning around eating us poor human beings. I don't know. Naga should have thought what about the human beings? You know, you curse someone be a Rashas. But then he eats us. We get the downside of it. So his wife Gita knowing that because of her attachment to her she was unable to make him Krishna conscious enough inspired him more. And Krishna conscious sides are only inspiring him. On the material side he got cursed and now he's wow, where the world. He's like demon wandering around and smashing people and eating them and doing weird. Just she was really unhappy so she went to this that same Rishi that was the yagya for Lord Ram Rishi Sringa Rishi Sringa Maharaj is Ashram Rishi's Ashram Rishi Sringa Rishi. And see the whole beautiful Apsara extraterrestrial and his Ashram. Whose daughter are you? He says I'm the daughter of such and such Gandharva. I come here from Gandharva Loka. What do you want from me? I have this problem that my husband because of a purse he's become a Rashasa. And I want to free him from this Rashasa. What can I do to free him from this? And he said well, this is Kamal Diakodasi. If you observe the past and Diakodasi you get free from all kinds of curses, all kinds of offences. And so you observe this fast, your husband will be free. She observed it. Then the next day her husband was begging him as an Apsara freed from his Rakshasa birth. Calm down Kaven. See, free us from offenses. I pray that I will commit any offenses. Please forgive me in this holy kindness I get free from all the offenses, curses and especially to those devotees who looking to me for help. I haven't. They feel that I haven't been able to help them as much as they need some help. Lead them, get a list of people that need help and prioritize. But keep working on that. In the meantime don't force. You don't want to become a raksha vikt manager here. Question, answer time while he's asking quick question. What does it actually mean when the guru takes bear the disciples and disciples they complain that the guru cannot take care. Then in what sense should the Buddha take care of the desire? Does it mean he has to say when they should eat and see? Or is it just in a spiritual sense? What does it actually mean that the guru takes care of his dialogue? Well, there's some standard things like as far as when to take the shot of all those kind of things. Brush your teeth. Those are pretty standard. Guru teaches one disciple. That disciple can teach everybody else. Prabhupada taught somebody how to put on a doti. Wasn't he teach every single disciple how to put on a doti. It's a kind of percolation of things. How to elevate, protect. Protecting the disciples from deviation, protecting them from bias, Guiding them so that they can. So much of that is done in group format. The problem that he made programs how his disciples could progress in devotional service. Chanting 16 rounds a day following the four principles, distributing books or doing things. Five odd was coming up with ideas how to help the disciple. He comes up with programs to help when needing facility for disciples to get their questions answered. Says that spiritual mass is concerned, sees concern. Others come too surprising. Like in some other missions. They asked the guru how do your followers? How are they supposed to practice devotional service Best makers even then initiate here. We're trying to create a city in Mayapur that devotees can come and stay here. That they can be ka conscious. It will be example for the world. All these are our Prabhupada's concern for the movement and our concern for the devotees. Thank you for watching our videos. Be sure to subscribe to our channel.
