A recorded question-and-answer session (Dec 30, 2009) with Jaya Pataka Swami addressing practical aspects of Krishna consciousness: quickest means of attaining love for Krishna, devotional practices (chanting, nine practices of bhakti), memories of Sridhar Mayapur, and whether devotees should expect material favors from Krishna. The format is informal, oral responses with audience interaction and occasional anecdotes.
Here's the first question. Dearest guru, how to attain Krishna the quickest way. How to love him, especially his devotees. Thank you. Your servant Jagat Kirti Devidas.
The question is what is the quickest way to get back to Krishna and awaken his own oppression? In the Chan the Charanrita it says Krishna Penanitya Sitta Sadhu Kalunay Sutra Chitte. Or that the pure love of Ka is not something we attain. It's already there in our heart, lying undone. It's awakened by chanting and performing the nine practices of devotional service. Hare Ka Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. So this process of bhakti Yoga is the direct root and the fastest way within bhakti One time Howard said the secret of success is to please the previous cryas. That the previous cryas the previous gurus somehow do the things which are pleasing to them. Then you can advance very quickly and devotional service. I always hate this question I get what is your favorite? So many I don't category like that. This is not wrong number two. I'll just say whatever comes to mind. It's not in order. Just as we are thinking that these ants are very insignificant like that they gave us the higher planets. They looked down on our human civilization and they think all these people, they just lived for a few months. And the calculation of the day was very insignificant. And so he dropped those. Ragini, Ragin, Rajini. She's Talking about Test 29, Chapter 23, Madhya Leela. A fully surrendered devotee always hopes that Lord Krishna will be kind to him. This hope is very firm in him. How does this apply to material things? Especially in the astral life whereby we have to work to live in Krishna consciousness. And sometimes we wish will be promoted, etc. So it is okay to think that oh Lord Krishna will be kind to me and give me that promotion.
From which sides?
I don't know.
Anyway, usually we ask the prayer bodies they expect from Krishna. Some are spiritual gifts. Those who are not feared. What is war? There's Nistkam bhaktas and Sakam bhaktas. So the Sakam Bhaktas, Rajini from San.
Rajini Saudranja, Ranjan from Malaysia. It's an Indian name.
So the pure devotees, they are expecting Krishna to give them some blessings to Electridaya to be Krishna conscious and so on. Some of them they may have material designs so a Krishna can get those too. Just like Guru Maharaj. He had many material desires. But he engaged in pure devotional service. And he was a blessed study to fulfill his material desires.
But.
This vision doesn't always fulfill our material desires. Like if you worship Siddha or Sadhdeva, they're more likely to give the material desires quickly whether we discern them or not, whether using rightly or not. Just like Lord Sri Lanka that he wanted to be able to take anyone's head off with his finger. So she said, okay, you get up, let me turn on you first. What? Hold on, I just get it, I'll turn on you. So a Krishna is a little, what you can say conservative about giving a material blessings can give when a devotee will use it properly, when they won't be diverted from devotional service by that material blessing. So that's why sometimes one may.
Expect.
That everything will work out very nicely in the material world. But this material world is not meant to work out nicely, you know. Then you someone's karma, sometimes it works on nights, sometimes it doesn't work on nights. It's hard to say. So Krishna promises that his devotee will never perish. He rejects his devotee. But he may not give all material things right away. He'll give it eventually. But he'll wait until we're ready for it and then he'll give or other assistants of his, they may get like devas, they may give up without considering if you're ready or not. As a result, someone may go to some neighbor on earth, I want 10,000 rupees, he gets 10. I want a lack of rubies, I want a crow rubies. So but tradition I realized well, this person really needs 2 cords. So he will give 2 crores. One person is ready to work. Is that okay? So maturities, you cannot expect it.
