20231226 || Śrī Caitanya-śikṣāmṛtam Class || Śrī Māyāpur, India #JayapatakaSwamiArchives

Recorded class by His Holiness Jaya Pataka Swami Maharaj (Dec 26, 2023, Śrī Māyāpur) continuing Part 2 of the preface to Śrī Caitanya-śikṣāmṛtam (Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura). The lecture explains that Varnasrama-dharma is accepted as a bodily/social maintenance system to support sadhana (not for sense gratification), cites Mahāprabhu and Jiva Goswami, emphasizes Bhakti as a scientific practice yielding predictable results if followed, notes Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura's use of contemporary Bengali/scientific terms to make philosophy accessible, and recommends this preface as an introductory study before deeper works. The session includes brief logistical remarks (illness, elevator broken) and ends with an announcement that the main book study will begin next meeting.

Guru Maharaj's message is your advice advantage. The following is a Shri Caitanya Sheikh Shamrita class given by His Holiness Jaya Pataka Swami Maharaj on December 26, 2023 in Sridharmapur.
Hare Krishna. Dear devotees, today we will continue with part two of the preface for Shri Chaitanya Shikshamritam of Sachidananda Bhakti Vinod Thakur. Part 2. Please examine. Please examine these two verses dear to Mahaprabhu and as quoted by Sri Jiva Goswami. As quoted by Sri Jiva Goswami One certainly accepts Varnasrama Dharma in order to maintain the body and the society based on the body. Can you hear? Based on the body. Mahaprabhu's instruction is that one should not accept the Dharma just for sense gratification, but to maintain the body through that Dharma and to engage in the Sadhana of Bhakti by cultivating Ka consciousness. Therefore, one should understand that all the instructions pertaining to Dharma and Adharma which have been gathered from the Smriti Shastras in the second Shaiva have been taught by Mahprabhu as the secondary means in Sadhana of Bhakti.
Today I woke up with a little uti.
So today I woke up with a little uti. Urinary tract infection.
The lift is also broken.
And the lift is also broken.
So things are running a little late.
So things are running a little late.
In here Arn Ashram. There are lots of things in Rajnashram one sees in relation to the body.
So here in Varnashram lots of things in Varnashram one see things in relation to the body.
Talk that we should do Varnashrama in order to further our advancement in Bhakti.
Lord Caitanya thought that we should do Varnashram in relation to further our Bhakti.
He said we naturally developing our attachment.
And we should naturally developing our attachment and love for Lord Krishna and love for Lord Krishna.
So he would not take it very seriously any of the instructions in Varanaturam pertaining to the body.
So he would not take seriously any instructions in Varnashram pertaining to the body.
He would take that seriously as a means of developing a natural affection for Ka.
He'll take it seriously if it's a mean for developing our attachment. Natural, natural attachment to Lord Krishna. Nice has propagated all the teachings present in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh showers in books such as Sri Sanatanas, Rupas and Jivas, Haribhakti, Vilasa, Bhaktira, Samrita, Sindhu and Shadsandarbha. Shri Jiva and Baladeva have propagated the analysis of Jnana and Vairagya found within the analysis of Bhava Bhakti in their respective books as the lots.
So we have a step. This Sikhsh contains many philosophies about Chaitanya.
So we understand that this Sikshastaka contains many philosophies about Lord Caitanya.
Sometimes different aspects of his pastimes, understanding.
Of Ka's pastime, sometimes different aspects of his pastimes or understanding Krishna's pastimes.
So this book goes through all these different things.
So these books go through all these different things like bubbles from the ocean of Mahaprabhu's philosophy. We have produced everything written in the eighth Shava through through our deliberations of his teachings. They cannot be any fault in including all those deliberations in Sri Caitanya Shiksham.
Here Bhakti Nathakur.
So here Bhakti Veena Thakur is explaining.
What he is doing.
What he is doing.
Different chapters are described as showers.
Different chapters are described as showers.
And the philosophical which are presented he describes as bubbles.
And the philosophical tattvas which are presented are described as bubbles.
Bubbles of the ocean of Lord Chaichanya.
Bubbles of the ocean of Lord Chaitanya.
Lord Chaitanya's philosophy bubbling to the surface.
So Lord Chaitanya's philosophy is bubbling to the surface. Surface. This book has been presented in the style with which books are composed in today's Bengal and it employs scientific terms that are in current use. Please don't come to the conclusion that I have set aside or changed any aspect of Mahaprabhu's teachings. If anyone wants, I can give evidence for everything that I have written from the books that I have enlisted earlier.
In his preface. This is the preface to the book.
This is the preface to the book.
He has used some scientific colloquial Bengali in his writings.
He has used some scientific colloquial Bengali in his writings.
And sometimes some might think, oh, why is he using all these big words?
So sometimes some may go on asking why are you using this? Why are you using these big words?
What if they want. What if they want to know the original Bengali text like Satsangaras or Rugrats? He's willing to show that reference.
If somebody Wants to see the original Bengali or Satsandarbas or Rupa and Raghunath. Rupa and Sanathans. He's ready to show and.
San, that's it. Is explaining that but he's only. He's only writing in the modern style.
He's only. So he's explaining that he's only writing what's there in the modern style.
Oh, modern style. He's changing now.
Modern style keeps changing.
I think that the modern style 200 years ago and what's in Bengal now.
So I think the modern style which was 200 years ago and what it is here in Bengal now, now it.
Would be a different style.
Now it would be a different style.
So anyway that's the. That's what it was.
Anyway, that's what the book is. Jodi Amra, Shaddamoto Bisha. I have not quoted Sanskrit verses or commentaries in this book. If I were to add in Sanskrit, the book will become incomprehensible to ordinary readers. Ordinary readers. Though I have written the book in simple Bengali language to the best of my ability, one has to understand the topics that have been deliberated upon. One requires a lot of scientific intelligence. I am not at fault if those who have hardly studied the science of spirituality find this book difficult. I pray that they carefully and slowly read through this book while deliberating on its contents. If they do that, they will gradually become sharp in scientifically analyzing the topics of this book later on. A special benefit will be that after learning a little Sanskrit they will be able to easily understand all the books filled with philosophy in Rasa composed by the great souls mentioned earlier.
Prabhupada asks us make the scientific museum of the Vedic Planetarium.
Sushla Prabhupada asked us to make the scientific museum of the Vedic Planetarium.
He wanted to show that the three things are the Srinivad Bhagavatam Bhag are actually scientific.
So he wanted to show the teachings of Srimad Bhagavatam and Bhagavad Gita are scientific.
In his practice. Here he is learning how while writing an ordinary Bengali.
So Bhakti Vinod Thakur in his preface here mentioning how writing in ordinary Bengali.
Bengali sometimes and I see that he's using the scientific words.
It may seem that he's using very scientific word.
And it's because actually Bhakti Yoga is a great science.
And this is because actually Bhakti Yoga is a very great science.
If you practice it, follow the rules and regulations.
If you practice it, follow the rules and regulations.
And then you get the result expected.
And you get the result which are expected.
This is like science.
This is like science.
Experiment properly, I get the result.
If you do the experiment properly, you'll get the get the result.
So do Bhakti Yoga properly, you get a result.
So if you do Bhakti Yoga properly, you you will get the result. Those who wish to study the scriptures of the Vaishnavas and learn about their pure Dharma should first of all systematically study this book.
So here's I think Nantucka is recommending that new homers before they delve into these great works of.
So Bhakti Vinathakur is recommending that the newcomers before they dwell into the great books of the Mahantas and gurus.
He composed this book for making it more accessible to everyone.
So he composed this book for making it accessible. More accessible for everyone.
So he wrote his name.
So he wrote and he signed his name. A servant of the servants of Shishi Goranga. Hi Krishna.
So that was the introduction.
So that was the preface. Introduction, slash, preface.
Tomorrow we start the book.
So tomorrow we start the book.
