20241022- First Stream — Symptoms of Vaidhi Bhakti

A recorded devotional lecture (Oct 2024) by Jaya Pataka Swami featuring Guru Maharaj and Haladini Mataji explaining Vaidhi Bhakti (scripture-prescribed devotional practice). The talk defines two broad types of dharma—Trivargika/Artika (ritual, moral, and economic aims producing temporary material fruits) and Paramartika/Apavargika (liberation and devotional service to Krishna)—and traces how karma produces cyclic material results (examples: marriage→procreation→pindadhana). Substantial quotations from Srimad Bhagavatam (2.3.2–11) list which demigods to worship for various material ends and emphasize that only association with a pure devotee can produce spontaneous attraction to the Supreme. The lecture contrasts Naitika/Smarta moralism with Paramarthika bhakti, presents the gradual vs sudden processes of bhakti (quoting Caitanya Caritamrita Madhya 19.1449), and endorses chanting and regulative standards as the practicable path. The session closes with practical community announcements urging book distribution (special 30-book Kartika sponsorship) and logistical details for donors and devotees.

Krishna Maha 3 Madhu Sudhanam.
Hare Krishna Dear devotees, today we will continue from Continue reading from Sri Chaitanya Shiksham Bhakti Vinod Thakur so Gurmaj, we are starting with the new shower. Third Shower General consideration of main rule of Vaidi Bhakti First Stream Symptoms of Vaidibhti the Dharma that arises from the rule of the Shastra is called the Vaida Dharma. Why? The dharma is of two types, I.e. artika pertaining to economic development or Trivargika and Paramartika or Apavargika pertaining to moksha or liberation. The Dharma which is found in these three categories of Dharma ata comma is Trivagika. By this there is improvement of the body, mind, society and righteous life and attains heavenly happiness in the next world. Heavenly happiness is temporary. Having enjoyed it, the living entities comes back to Karma Kshetra. The Varnasrama Dharma, as explained earlier is actually Aartika pertaining to economic development. Dharma, Artha and Kama come in cycles. For the living entities, there is no liberation from Karma Jada following the Vedic principles and engaging in ritualistic ceremonies. Money is the purpose behind this Dharma and so its name is Artika pertaining to economic development. Whatever byproducts of Karma is present, all of them are Artha. So in this world to be successful one needs more money. So people worship demigod and don't worship Krishna to get money.
All the rules are go up to the heavenly planets.
If they follow the rules respectively, then they can go up to the heavenly planets.
After they run out of good Karma, they go back down to the Karma.
And after they run out of good Karma, they come back down to the Karma Kshetra. Permanent so like this, nothing is permanent. One goes up, down, up, down, up, down. There's one along the way. If he does too much bad karma, then he has to suffer. If one does.
Want to run around, run around in the material world.
So like this, one is going around and around in this material world. If one does the Parmatika Karma, then he can go back to Godhead. Note quotation from Srimad Bhagavatam. One who desires to be absorbed in the impersonal Brahma Jyoti effulgence should worship the Master of the Vedas, Lord Brahma or Brihaspati, the learned priest. One who desires powerful sects should worship the heavenly king Indra and one who desires good progeny should worship the great progenitors called Prajapatis. One who desires good fortune should worship Durga Devi, the Superintendent of the material world. One desiring to be very powerful should worship fire and one who aspires only after money should worship the Vasus. One should worship the Rudra incarnations of Lord Shiva if he wants to be a great hero. One who wants a large stock of grains should worship Aditi. One who desires to attain heavenly planets should worship the sons of Aditi. One who desires worldly kingdom should worship Vishwadeva. And one who wants to be popular with the general mass of population should worship the Sadhya demigod. One who desires a long span of life should worship the demigods known as the Ashwini Kumaras. And a person desiring a strongly built body should worship the earth. One who desires stability in his pose should worship the horizon and the earth combined. One who desires to be beautiful should worship the beautiful residents of Gandharvar planet. And one who desires good wife should worship the Apsaras and Urvashi society girls of the heavenly kingdom. One who desires domination over others should worship Lord Brahma, the head of the universe. One who desires tangible fame should worship the personality of God help. And one who desires a good bank balance should worship the demigod Varuna. If one desires to be greatly learned man should worship Lord Shiva. And if one desires a good material relation, he should worship the chaste Goddess Uma, the wife of Lord Shiva. One should worship Lord Vishnu or his devotee for spiritual advancement in knowledge and for protection of heredity and advancement of dynasty, one should worship the various demigods. One who desires domination over the over kingdom or an empire should worship Manus. One who desires victory over an enemy should worship the demons. And one who desires sense gratification should worship the moon. But one who desires nothing of material nothing of material enjoyment should worship the supreme personality of Godhead. A person who has a broader intelligence whatever he be full of all material desire without any material desire or desiring liberation must by all means worship the supreme whole, the personality of Godhead. All these different kinds of worshippers of multi demigods can attain the highest perfectional benediction which is spontaneous attraction and unflinchingly fixed upon the supreme personality of Godhead only by the association of the pure devotee of the Lord. This is a verse quoted From Srimad Bhagavatam 2.3.2 to 11.
What would you like?
So what would you like?
Verses how you can achieve all these material things.
So these verses are saying how you can achieve all these material things, all the spiritual things and also the spiritual things.
What do you Want?
So what do you want?
You want to say? Here.
She says the last one. She said the last one. So, spontaneous attraction and unflinchingly fixed upon the supreme personality of Godhead.
Pure devotee of the Lord.
Only by the association of the pure devotee of the Lord. You see, there's nothing hidden. It's so open.
They want to come back here and be a great hero or whatever you want.
But if you want to come back here and to be a great hero, whatever you want, it's all given here. If you want to go back to Godhead and have spontaneous attraction and unflinching faith upon the supreme personality of Godhead, you must associate with the pure devotee of the Lord. Artha, later becoming the form of Karma, produces other Artha. Where this kind of Dharma and Artha cycle ends, this last Artha is called Paramartha or Apavarga Triva can be only by worshipping many demigods of Bhagavan. I'll give only one example. Marriage is one karma and procreation is its Arta. Procreation becoming the form of Karma produces Pindadhana as Artha. Again Pindadhana becoming the form of Karma, produces Artha in the form of the satisfaction of the forefathers being satisfied, the forefathers give Artha in the form of well being of the children. Again, the well being of the children becoming the form of Karma generates other Artha. All this generate temporary fruits.
So forefathers.
So by worshiping the forefathers, one gets their blessings.
All these things are Chandra.
All these things are temporary. But actually to get the paramata, the spiritual fruit, we have to worship the supreme personality of Godhead Truth. Okay, another quotation from Srimad Bhagavatam Haladini Mataji. Yeah. Until his pious results are used up, the performer of sacrifice enjoy life in the heavenly planets. When the pious results, results are exhausted. However, he falls down from the pleasure of gardens of heaven. From the pleasure gardens of heaven. Being moved against his desire by the force of eternal time. In such a degraded body, he unfortunately continues to perform inauspicious activity that greatly increase his future unhappiness. And therefore he again accepts a similar material body. What possible happiness can there be for one who engages in activities inevitably terminating in death? In all the planetary systems. For the planetary systems, from the heavenly to the hellish, and for all the great demigods who live for 1000 Yuga cycles, there is fear of me in the form of time. Even Brahma who possesses the supreme lifespan of 3110-400000-00000,000 years is also afraid of me. Okay. Brahma is okay. 311.40 times 10 to the power of 9 years. So afraid of me.
How do you say that?
3110-400000-00000 years.
I don't.
To the power of nine.
Because his own has time.
Everyone worships. What did you say, Gurma? You didn't hear?
Everyone is afraid of Krishna.
Oh. Everyone is afraid of Krishna because he comes as time.
Demigods.
Some demigods. They live for. They live for many manus. Each manu is so many Yuga cycle. So Guru Maharaj is 311.04 trillion human years. 311 trillion Gurumas.
The chain of Dharma and Artha continues.
Until the happiness of the children. Sorry. The chain of Dharma and Artha continues until the happiness of the children and finally the peace due to salvation and the happiness of Brahman. When Brahman happiness is refined and transformed into the happiness of service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, then the chain of Alta and the only Parmartha has gained his ultimate result. The word Apavarga has two meanings, Moksha and Bhakti. After liberation, the soul is freed from the matter. From matter, Sorry. And gains Bhakti in the form of Nithya Dharma.
In the material world.
So everything we do so everything we do in the material world, Dharma, Eartha and Kama is for material enjoyment.
How are the.
But the Paramata means moksha and Bhakti. It's also called Apavarga. Some people also wants the impersonal and some people want to achieve the transcendental Bhakti to the personality of Godhead. The difference between Aartika and Paramarthika Dharma. To the extent Dharma aims only for Artha, to that extent this Artha is called Artika. When this Dharma aims to the ultimate, then the name of this Dharma is Paramarthika Spiritual Dharma. Another name for Artika Dharma is Naitika Moral and Smart Dharma. The name of Paramartika vaida spiritual based on scriptural rule Dharma is called Sadhana Bhakti. Worship of the Lord such as Ijja worship, Vandana prayers, Sandhya Upasana, worship at the at the three junctures of the day, dawn, noon and sunset and Yajnisha Puja, worship of the worship of the Lord of sacrifice, Vishnu, etc. Seen in Naitika, moral or smart Dharma are not transcendental. And through the Nithya Nayamatika, worship of God, material nature of righteous person is nourished or social improvement is achieved. All those Worships are in the form of Karma as they produce Artha. Cease worship of God is only one principle among other principles of Smarta Dharma. And it is not a Parmarthika Vidhi that is a sign of eternal subordination to the Lord. That Karma which achieves only the welfare of bodily, mental and social world, that Karma is Naitika. In Trivargica Dharma, there is purification of conduct by accepting moral action in the form of worshipping God, despite factually denying God. Even C O M P T E com pat an atheist leader in the Western country has made a method of worship of the Lord as a type of purification of mind. All the worshippers, all the worships on the path of Karma are almost like that in Yoga Shastra. There is a system of Yoga Siddhi through Ishvara, abstract contemplation of the Lord, which is also almost of the same type. But the system of Vaiv Bhakti in the Bhakti Shastra is Paramarthika and pure Apavargika Dharma. If we think more deeply, it will be seen that there is a very big philosophical difference between Vaida Aartika Dharma and Smarta opinion of Paramartika Dharma in the form of eternal subordination to the Lord. That philosophical difference is not form of action, but in the devotional consciousness. The atheistic, moralistic and Karpapriya Smartas, considering only moral devotion as the main thing, used to destroy the legitimate Arthika Dharma and gave it Trivargica form by limiting it to Dharma. On the other hand, why the Parmarthika devotees gave a different form to the legitimate Arithika Dharma by increasing the limits, by adding apavarga, liberation and the limitless result of Prema to the results of Artika Dharma's Dharma, Artha and Kama. Therefore, this form of this form appears different. Actually, moral Artika Dharma is a special branch of Paramarthika Dharma. When the Vaida Dharma attains perfection, it acquires the definition of the main rule and becomes Paramartika Dharma. So basically have two people, it's basic. So we basically have two people.
Interested in transcendental Bhakti.
Those who are interested in transcendental Bhakti, known as Paramar, tika, Vaidi Bhakti, and.
On a nice material condition.
And the materialists who wants a nice material condition to do the artifica, which is Dharma.
People are seeking pious work and materialistic success.
Those people who are seeking pious work and materialistic success, those who want Prema and doing the transcendental activities of Vaidi Bhakti. When the Artha Vaida Dharma is elevated, it becomes the Parmarthika Vaida Dharma. When the eternal Dharma of the living entity in the form of subordination to the Lord is added to Arita Vaita Dharma, the butt of Artha Vaida Dharma blossoms into Paramatika Vaida Dharma. Even if the living entities within the material world accept Paramaratika Dharma, the Vaida Arthak Dharma of Varanashma Dharma does not leave them. Their body, mind and society will always be nourished with the help of Varanasrama Dharma. But when one is happy with the body, mind and society and is comfortably situated, the soul attains eternal happiness by the worship of the Supreme Lord. Vaida Arithika Dharma is called Karmakanda Vaida Paramartika Dharma is called Bhakti or Bhakti or Sadhana Bhakti. Therefore, in scientific judgment, the secondary rule of Karma will be considered as a part of the as as a part and the main rule of Bhakti will be seen as a part. So some people do religion to get the blessings of material success.
By practicing Vaidi Bhakti or Sana Bhakti.
By practicing by practicing Vaidi Bhakti or Sadhana Bhakti, one gets eternal happiness. So in ISKCON we try to do Sadhana Bhakti, Karma Kanda, Gyanakanda, Vishe Rabhanda.
These are the Bishop.
Karma Kanda and Jnanakanda. These are Bishoy Banda. They are poisonous pots.
Another transcendental house.
So the Parnatika Sadhana Bhakti is the source of transcendental happiness. Okay, two ways of to attain Bhakti, one more thing needs to be considered here. For the living entity, there are two practices about gaining Bhakti, the gradual advancement process and the sudden process. Gradual Advancement Process in the Madhya Leela of Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita 19.1449, Shri Caitanya Mahaprabhu advises Rupa Goswami on the following process of gradual advancement. Tarmadi Stavara Jangama Dui bera Jangamethri Tirjak Dalas Jalas Talachara Mibait Tarmadi Manusha Jati ati Alpatara Tarmadi Malacha Pulinda Bauda Sabar Veda Nishta Madhya Ardek Veda Muke mane Veda Nishidda Papakare Dharma Nahigani Dharmachari Madhya Bahuta Karma Nishta Koti Karma Nishta Mate Gyani Shrestha koti gani Madib hoy Ek Jain Mukta Koti Mukta Madhya Dhurlab Ek Krishna Bhakta Krishna Bhakta Nishkam Atayev Shant Bhukti Mukti Siddhi Kami Shakalay Ashanta Translation the unlimited living entities can be divided into two divisions, those that can move and those that cannot move. Among living entities that can move there are birds, aquatics and animals. Although the living entities known as human beings are very small in quantity, the division may be still further subdivided, for there are many uncultured human beings like Mille's, Pulindas, Baudas and Sabharas. Among human beings, those who are followers of the Vedic principles are considered civilized. Among those, almost half simply give up, simply give lip service while committing all kinds of sinful activities. Against this principles, such people do not care for the regulative principles. Among the followers of Vedic knowledge, most are following the process of fruitive activity and distinguishing between good and bad work. Out of many such sincere fruitive actors, there may be one who is actually wise and out of many millions of such wise men, one may actually become liberated Nukta and and out of many millions of such liberated person. A pure devotee of Lord Krishna is very difficult to find because the devotee of Lord Krishna is desireless, he is peaceful. Furtive workers desire material enjoyment. Excuse me, Jnanis desire liberation and yogis desire material opulence. Therefore they are all lusty and cannot be peaceful. Oh sorry. Immovable living entities. Sorry. In immovable living entities such as trees are all covered conscious. Sankuchita Chetana, contracted consciousness are Tiryak the living entities who can move in the air like the birds. Jalachara, living entities who can move within the water. Stalachara living entities who can move on land. The forest dwellers like Pulinda, Shabarakht, etc and Malays with science, art and civilization are uncultured human beings. Atheistic humans like Buddhists are only moral. Those who give lip service of following the Vedas are moralists worshipping an imaginary God. Those who follow the religious principles Dharma Acharyas are factually theistic moralists among them, some of them are knowers of the truth Patogyanis among many Tattva Jnanes, some are actually liberated from material intelligence. Among many such millions and millions of Jada Buddhimuktas, some may accept bhakti. Among theistic moralists, those who accept material enjoyment as the fruit of karma, as the fruit of knowledge or Siddhi of the Yoga are not peaceful Only a devotee of Krishna is mentioned to be peaceful. The purport of Prabhupada. The statement by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the Madhya Leela of Sri Caitanya Charitamrita 19.1449 Upa Siksha is that the forest of dwellers should become civilized and learned and then later on accept moral principles and and then later having faith in the Lord become the followers of the religious principles Dharmaacharis. Let Dharma acharys accept Krishna Bhakti without being bound by the byproducts of Bhukti, Mukti and Siddhi. This is the authentic step of gradual progress of human life. This is the pure instructions of all scriptures and the path that gives definite result.
Gradual process.
So by practicing this gradual process one can reach the transcendental platform of Bhakti.
So this is what Chaitanya has given us a shortcut.
But Lord Chaitanya has given us a.
Shortcut by chanting the holy names and practicing the role standards.
So by chanting the holy names and.
Practicing the moral standards, one can eventually achieve Bhakti.
One can eventually achieve Bhakti.
Who here like the Jiva Bhakti?
So who here like to achieve bhakti? So who wants to have just moral smart Dharma?
So smart dust are very regulated.
So the smart dust are very regulated.
They are really attached to the material results.
But they are very attached to the material results.
So they only do the diorama. They got Punya. They got.
So they only do the Dharma to get punya, to get heavenly material happiness.
They don't do bhakti.
They don't do bhakti.
Bhakti, it means to transcend.
Bhakti is the means to transcend everything.
Actually most of the world doesn't know about Bhakti.
Actually, most of the world doesn't know about Bhakti.
Even in India.
Even in India.
Well, the Gyanis and Kandis martyrs, there.
Are also Gyanis, Karma Kandis Marthas, those.
Who are very intelligent.
And those who are very intelligent. They chant Hare Krishna and achieve Bhakti.
To hand the holy names. They got terrified. They got done.
So some people who doesn't eat immediately Bhakti, they were asked by Lord Chaitanya to chant Hare Krishna. What was the last thing Guru Mahaj you said? So how can you can see things are divided up as preliminary trivarga and gradually one gets slowly to Paramatika. So we'll hear about Sadhana Bhakti and how to achieve the higher transcendental Bhakti. Hare Krishna. So Guru Maharaj, please bless all of them.
